  1. Ummm, since I don't really see any arcs that haven't been reviewed already, is it unfair to ask for a critique of my Arc without critiquing someones arc?

Tell you what, if you critique my arc, I'll critique yours. Deal? Ok. =P

    *ahem*

It says so in my sig. Arc ID - 223631: Becoming a villain

In-Game Description - Many new villains who arrive from the zig are sent to mercy island to prove themselves. Blood Hilt has come to Mercy to help villains gain a strong foothold in the villainous career... for a cut of the profits, of course.

Actual Description - I designed this arc for the purpose of giving lowbie toons a chance to play AE, without being swarmed by custom mobs or insane AV's. The story focuses around you, as you go and perform various villainous activites to promote your reputation. The more villainous acts you perform, the more the heroes become aware of your presence, and the more challenging the tasks become.
  2. Oh, thank goodness. I almost thought this was going to be another "I have a 5 year account, my new account deserve the rewards too!" or a "Why do vets get all the cool stuff?" post.

I like to be surprised by vet rewards. I don't look at when the next one is. I like to log on and then go "Sweet, another vet reward!" But if it's not awarding on time, do what others have already said and contact support.

I'm not complaining that the trial is "too hard", because in my opinion it isn't. It's only hard when the team leader decides to raise the difficulty to absurd numbers for an average team. (Which happens way too often)

I'm only complaining about how booooring the trial is. Sitting in a reactor room for 30+ minutes fighting wave after wave of enemies, and sitting there twiddling your thumbs while waiting for the next wave is not my idea of fun.
  4. Ugh, yes! I was cursed to hear the song "say what you need to say" over and over everywhere I went!

    Anyways...

"Don't you hate when a joke goes completely over your head, but you laugh at it anyways to avoid ignorance?
  5. Some suggestions for coming up with your own unique name...

    1) Use a Thesaurus

Is the name "Sovereign Right" taken? Try using synonyms like "Sovereign Will" or "Sovereign Law". Are those names taken too? Keep trying different synonyms. I recently made a character named "Sovereign Creed" after trying different names with "Sovereign" in them. (Also, I already tried those names above. They're already taken. =P)

    2) Try a different language

You have to be careful with this one. Someone already pointed out that you may end up with an incorrect translation. You may want to use a single word for a name if you're using another language. Because "Ensayo" sounds a whole lot cooler than "Trial"

    3) Numbers don't ALWAYS hurt

Spelling out numbers sometimes takes away the pain of using regular numbers. Also, try using them in a way that makes sense. Instead of "Prototype15235", which is incredibly painful to look at (for me, anyways) try something simple like "Prototype-Fifteen", which looks way more appealing.

    hope this helps. =D
  6. The villain Respec is a lot more fun IMHO. I agree that standing around in the reactor room is incredibly boring, and takes the fun out of it all.

Maybe Hero respecs could be a bit more like villain respecs. For example, make the reactor room a whole lot bigger, like the tree room for villains, put an Arch-Villain in the middle guarding the reactor, and take away the never-ending wave attacks.

    Battle Arena.

I posted this a few months ago, and it got exactly 1 view and 0 replies before being drowned in multiple pages in a single day. Anyways, onto the suggestion.

If you've ever played the game "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" you may have noticed that in addition to the standard game modes like conquest and capture the flag, a select few maps had a special game mode simply called XL. Basically, this mode had no objectives other than to wipe out the opposing army. There would also be many more troopers than standard game modes. It was really fun. No rules, no things to collect, just shoot stuff. I would like to see something like this added to the Mission Architect.

It would be called Battle arena, and there could be a new room added just for this. What you would do is access the computer as if you were making a story arc, but instead, you would set up your own mini-war for yourself. Think something like the battle hot-spots in Sirens Call.

So, you would pick two opposing sides (within the same level-range) to fight each other. For example, lets pick the Warriors vs the Freakshow. You would then pick which side you would fight for. You could also set certain battle parameters such as the location, number of units per side etc. Then, you would enter the big virtual world thingy (lol) that you use to access MA missions.

After you enter the map, you would spawn with your chosen side, lets say you joined the Warriors. A timer would count down, and after the timer went off, both sides would engage in an all out war! You would then fight until one side is completely defeated.

You would have unlimited respawns, but if your side is defeated, then the game will end when you are defeated, and thus you would lose. There wouldn't be any debt for dying in the battle arena. Architect tickets could be gained from this, perhaps 1 for every unit you helped kill, and a bonus if your side wins.

You could also participate in this with a friend, for the ultimate battle, as two generals lead their respective armies into battle. Gladiators could be incorporated into this, having your own personal squad to aid you in battle. If a player defeated another player within this, no reputation would be awarded.

There may need to be a decrease in XP to prevent insane leveling speeds. (Don't want to revisit that again.) I would see this as a way to just have fun fighting hordes of enemies with your own army to assist you. You could possibly add more styles to this, like just an all out war, or waves of enemies.

So what do you think? Thoughts? Any ways you could improve this? I think this would be a really fun addition to the Mission Architect.
  8. I'm not talking about anything related to the stats of the power set, I think it's just fine. I'm talking about the wimpy sound FX the set uses. With a huge Axe in your hand, you'd expect some kind of loud *SCHWING!!* sound, not some silly little *whoosh* sound. The current sounds would be fitting for a Katana, maybe. But not a powerful weapon of death! (The specific sound I'm talking about is the slice you hear when you hit an enemy.)

But, I seem to remember Battle Axe making a really big "SCHWING!!* sound in the past. Was this changed? Shouldn't a powerset called "Battle Axe" make a sound that's appropriate for it's terrifying name? The current FX sounds like your cutting them with a pocket knife. It sounds kind of... empty.

I'm not trying to make a "The sound FX suck!" post, but it just seems out of place. Has it always been like this?
  9. Don't you hate when you tell your friend to do something for you, but they end up forgetting and you have to remind them about a million times before they actually go and do it?
  10. Like the title says. My game keeps crashing randomly. So far, I've crashed 3 times while teamed, once while trying to zone, and twice when leveling up. I don't have this problem with any of my other games, just City of Heroes.

I used to be able to play this game just fine, until I got the evil gumblar virus of DOOOOM!!!
Anyways, after I got the DOOOOM virus, I went ahead and wiped windows, because nothing else was working.

So, my computer is practically empty, and the virus is gone. I installed City of Heroes onto my computer, and now it keeps crashing all of a sudden.

When your running low on influence, it's also like saying "Hey, you haven't done anything heroic in a while, go beat up Tsoo and I'll give you some more stuff."

So, the currency in this game isn't tangible. You can't save some girls purse, then tell her "Hey, go tell the bank I saved you, so I can store some influence in there."

2)Kill a server. Now that the AE controversy hype (and overhype) has died down some servers are dead again and some stayed dead even during the AE "gold rush".Isn't it about time everyone on dead server(s) was/were moved from one to another.Im not saying kill alot of em but 1 MAYBE 2 would help. You neutered AE to urge people to get back to teaming (and force people to work for a living lol) but while it worked for some servers, others it didnt.

You think the servers are empty now? If they did kill a server, the servers would be even more abandoned, because you just killed a couple thousand players favorite server. Then NC would loose valuble customers, and then they would lose money.

    Gio

Probably server maintenance. It should be back up around noon or so, depending on your time zone.
  13. 3-5 hours in Windows Paint and a blank character select screen someone made for me combine together to create this...

I wish I could play this game...

Did I miss any important characters? I'm pretty sure I got all the major Heroes and Villains in there, as well as some fillers. It's paint, so the quality isn't astounding.
  14. *yanks the remote from early girl and changes it to discovery* OOhh, Mythbusters is on!
  15. One more question.

Whenever I join a team, this window pops up asking me if the level changes are okay with the Super SK'ing feature. This window pops up every time I zone while on a team. How do I get this window to go away? I found two slidebars having to do with auto-accepting level changes above or below XX, but I honestly have no clue what it means.

  17. Got a few questions here that are completely unrelated. Here you go.

    1) Say I set my difficulty to treat me as a four man group solo. With the same difficulty, I make a team of six people. Does this treat the team as a ten-man group? Or will it treat the team normally as a six person group?

    2) I have a toggle that grants me defense to Smashing damage. I go and fight an enemy that does smashing and energy damage at the same time with his attacks. He attacks me with a smashing/energy damage attack, and my smashing defense rolls in my favor. Do I only block the Smashing portion of the attack, or do I still negate the whole attack?

Bonus) Did anybody else notice on the new difficulty options villain side, the fateweaver says she's a part of SRSLY? Goes to show the devs have a sense of humor. =D Go talk to a Fateweaver and read the opening dialog to see what I mean.
  18. Whatever I have to use, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't unintentionally breaking the law. =P

    Thanks for the info.
  19. So, long story short, I got a nasty computer virus and I'm going to wipe windows soon. Before I do the wipe, I wanted to grab a couple of things from my computer first to keep so they aren't lost entirely.

Now, City of Heroes is obviously a big thing to just copy over, so I wanted to copy my entire City of Heroes game folder onto a CD for later use, so I don't have to go through with installing all the patches all over again.

Is copying the game to a CD legal? It's for personal use only so I can start off with all the neat Issue 16 goodies. My current City of Heroes CD is old-ish, and is only up to Issue 8. With the backup CD, I won't have to wait for the obnoxiously slow CoH updater to download Issues 9 through 16.

  21. You know, for them to say they can't do it seems most illogical. They are tech support, they should have access to everything game-wise. They should have /admin commands that can change anything. If they can get enemies un-stuck, auto-complete missions, and give you any bugged badges with a single command, there HAS to be a /give_[player]_[power] command.

Of course, this is just my uninformed view on the situation, and I'm sure the standard code rant applies. But with games where I was the admin (Being a server host in multi-player) there was a command for everything. Someone should go post this in the suggestions forum. I would, except I'm too lazy to do it. =P

But you're right. It probably wouldn't be an issue, depending on what they are using to detect the active subscription. Either way, it probably wouldn't be more than a /petition away to check it over and award it to the exceptions.

    Was just curious.
I hope that's the case. This one time, my credit card was maxed out, and it instantly shut down my account, and I don't want to see a repeat performance during this "loyalty" promotion.
