Anyone care to share their gaming experience with this laptop if they own it? I'm about to pull the trigger, but definitely want a laptop that will allow me to enjoy some higher graphics settings in CoH. I know I could bump up to the 560M for a almost the same price, but my battery life would be cut in half and I can't do that.
Specs would be the Intel Core i7-2630QM, nVidia GT 555M, 4GB 1333Mhz, 1920x1080 15.6 inch display. -
Who cares if it's similar, damn. Find something better to do with your time than sit on a forum saying, in a vague manner, how similar someone's build looks.
To OP, I think it's solid considering what your goals are. I do think you should drop Darkest Night for Soul Tentacles. In my experience, there is nothing greater than having a solid immob/hold for TFs ect. A perfect example is the popular BAF. Being able to slow down the minions really helps out the team and yourself while you focus on the Lts. -

Where can I find the most up to date, solid farming SS/Fire Brute?
-
Quote:I'm sorry, but no. You make a pretty stupid assumption. I have both fully IOed out and the SS/Fire is much faster than Elec/Fire. Get your facts straight.Yes and you just made my point SS/fire is not a great awesome farmer because you have to support it with the same stuff any other toon could grab. So ya the whole reason you grab SS is for FS+Rage.. which turns out to be a lousy combo in a farm. Many people who praise the SS/Fire also don't bother using Rage in the farm to avoid the crash.
What makes a good farmer? Lots of AOE that does good dmg and there are other sets that give you more AOE options than what SS can offer you.
Build up an elec/fire then come talk to me about who knows what. -

Welcome back!
Quote:I wish they'd just offer RV Zone 1 and RV Zone 2. Zone 1 would have PvP 2.0 and zone 2 would have PvP 1.0. It would prob be difficult to do that?Don't forget suppression for being attacked (lol) or using heals (lol) or Kins not granting unsuppressed movement (lol) or Sonics being complete garbage (lol).\
In short, they completely gutted the usefulness of two fairly common powersets and an entire AT (anyone remember when Defenders were actually good?) in order to make everything more fun for everyone. Unfortunately the side effects were making everything less fun for just about everyone except the bad people who get kills now and again and think they're good because the system dumbs everyone else down to their level. -
Quote:So you'd rather hold hands and sing about butterflies?Hello fellow PvPer's and all player of CoH/V i have one issue...the trash talk and all the hating.
WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS?!?
i mean seriously there is always so much e-rage goin on between all of us..standing up for our e-pride so can be the e-best in the whole entire broken e-world we call the city of heroes..
I apologize..
SoulTouch- i am sorry for farming you in RV the past couple days and for the the downie and "your bad" coments
Barrier- I've never rlly done anything to offend you..u helped me get into pvp so i just wanna say thanx
everyone else- sorry for bein such a e-bully and thank you for all the help you have offered me..
Stop all the e-hate! be friends! we r united in this game.. FOR FREEDOM!!!!!!! the only "real server"
PS: no disrespect to all the "little servers"
HAVE FUN PLAYIN YALL!! -
I'd like to know as well.
-
I usually take Grant Invis on my Stalker, but I think I'll give Invis a try. I always assumed it was useless if I was at the stealth cap. And Hiber/Phase is nice for an option in SC. Not to mention being able to get away in RV after hitting Hiber.
-
If you ever face off against a PB/WS, surprise them with a temp Kheld gun. It's funny.

Okay, this has all got to be one big joke.......

Quote:When you have Mids' up, at the top, click Import/Export and choose "Short Forum Export..."Thanks everyone for your input. I am way too tired to completely understand it right now and compare to what I have. I have been working 12, 13 hours a day . .I even forgot about writing this post until Fury Flechette reminded me of it...thanks so much Fury Flechette, I totally owe you one
Darn but I want my mind to be awake right now.
And, err, how do I post my build. I do have Mids, but last time I tried to post a build I failed.
Hugs to everyone.
Lisa.
Then, on the top right box titled "Formatting Code Type", highlight 'phpBB / Zetaboards'. Now just click "Export Now" at the bottom and right click/paste here. Hope this helps! -
Quote:+1 Fire/Shield/BlazeI farm with a fire/shield/blaze scrapper and am able to get to the 25-26M/hour benchmark in a hour's worth of casual farming (chatting, taking breaks). I think the build is more flexible than an electric shield largely because it has a better single target attack chain, which is a non-factor while farming, but anything but when taken outside of a farm.
-
Well.. either my build is beyond fixing or it's solid. I made a few minor changes. I planned to start IOing today and then I found out about server transfers. I've got a 50 Arch/MM that has been sitting collecting dust. I can't decide which to drop all my Inf into now!
-
Alright here's my revised build. I'm still sticking with S/L defense, but a few things were changed that I feel would make it better. I went ahead and dropped Weave for Maneuvers which was a great idea. This allowed me to pick up a couple extra powers. I've got an extra slot that I'm really not sure where I want to put. Was thinking maybe SS for some Ranged Defense from BotZ. Hoarfrost will be used mainly as a heal in those dire situations where Hibernate might not be up and I'm out of inspirs.
Also, does anyone have experience with the Epic power Repulsion Bomb? It looks like it would be pretty good.

I've been working on a Blaster and it's been ages since I made my first one.. so I could definitely use a few pointers. I seem to recall using Aid Self and PFF on my first one (Ice/EM) and this time, thanks to IOs, I tried going for the S/L cap. I'd really like to have my main 3 Ice Blasts but I'm worried I won't have enough AoE without Frost Breath. I could drop Charged Brawl? Some S/L would be lost putting me under the soft cap, though. Anyway here it is! Please let me know if there's anything I could do to make it better, thanks.

I can't wait to play with these new graphical settings. I've got a GTX 275 with an OC'd 3.4GHz Q6600.
-
Sanc, I think the best thing you can do right now is to go PvP with your Fire/Regen and start to get a feel for it yourself.
-
You're 1 enhancement short of recharge bonuses for a lot of those powers.

Quote:That and Tanks have an inherent taunt.Mobs run away from my scrappers w/damage auras when their HPs drop to a certain level. Spines/Dark, Fire/Fire both have to kill stuff very quickly (fortunately, not really a problem, but still annoying) or things will run. I have to wait til most mobs' health goes down where a single big PBAoE (say FSC) will just kill them all, because if I lead w/the PBAoE and the damage aura takes them below a certain level, everything will just scatter to the four winds. This behavior is very consistant, btw, and the con of the mobs don't seem to have that big an effect.
Few things run away from my Kat/Regen, DB/WP, DM/SD or ELM/SR. It may also be a function of how I play, since w/my Spines & Fire scrappers, I tend to throw down a lot more AoEs, which kill more mobs, but not quite as quickly. My Kat, DB & DM scrappers are more ST oriented (my Elec's still in his 20s) and might be finishing off most mobs faster than their run impulses are triggered, but then bosses and above don't run on those guys either, even when I have to wail on them for a decent amount of time.
Nothing ever runs from my tanks because of damage auras (or debuffs). -
Quote:That looks solid. I might make better use of the slots in Health, though. This thread contains some of the worst farming builds I've ever seen. At first I thought they were budget builds, but they actually use purples and pricey IOs.
If you're going to farm with a fire/kin, understand these simple principles:
1. Recharge is more important than damage. When you've fulcrum shifted (especially when you're double stacked), much of the damage enhancements in your epic blasts don't count because you're already at the cap. So, you want your epic damaging attacks with a decent amount of recharge and as much global recharge as possible.
2. Accuracy is important. Missing your heal, missing mobs with fulcrum shift, missing siphon speed or transference are all bad. Builds without tactics or without lots of global accuracy bonuses stink. Accuracy means the difference between farming even cons and farming higher conning mobs for more loot.
3. Survivability is important in farming builds. Having kb protection, capped (or near capped) defense and good hitpoints/regen are all nice to have. However, I'd rather have a build with more recharge than capped defenses given the choice, largely because you can open with flashfire and not worry about it as much. Survivability comes in when you want to farm higher conning mobs or mobs with a lot of mez.
4. Even SO'ed fire/kins can farm decently. Before inventions, I was farming Battle Maiden with mine with 5 padders, so I know it's possible. However, having lots of recharge, accuracy, survivability allows you greater farming efficiency. In order to have great efficiency, you want to invest in your build.
5. Don't take your farming build outside of the farm. Farming is really an exercise of maximium gain for as little risk as possible. You are purposely fighting against things that are easy for your build to take on. I hate seeing farming builds on TFs because outside of the controlled environment of a farm, farm fire/kin builds are rather awful. They often don't have their key buffs and the smash/lethal defense they rely on so much on the farms are useless against exotic damage types or against stuff that debuffs defense.
Just so that I'm put on an even footing with everyone else, the build below is what I use to farm. However, I largely use her primary build now (which is fire/kin/fire and built as a support character) because I no longer believe that fire/kins are the best farmers in the game.
