Named my Crab Spider Icestation Zero. He's from an Antartic team of Arachnos and sports blue and white for his costume colors.
My Fortunata's named Firestorm Echo. He hails from an Arachnos base in a part of the Shadow Shard known for it's "firestorms" that leave "echoes" in the air as they sizzle through. He sports red and white. -
Vahzilok hands down. Slows, toxic damage, hard as heck melee hits and a guy to rez them? Not to mention the various powers the Eidolons have and at their level range, they're killer. Higher levels "hard foes" are actually easy for the most part since you're also pretty well equipped by that point. Early on, we really don't have squat for "mega powers" and the Vahz can eat you alive fast. Oddly enough, Dr V as an elite boss is easier than a small group of his minions....

Quote:Not to mention his spazzoid haircut. Everytime I've seen him ingame I laugh at his oh so sad haircut....hard to be taken seriously when you look like you just rolled out of bed and into your supersuit.Maelstrom's eyes look like he's had enough caffeine that he could get bit by a rattlesnake and not notice for three days.

I high fived Dean to be sure. And am I the only one that heard Knox Harrington from Vampire The Masquerade:Bloodlines as his voice while reading his text? That super juiced up "oh man, this is so awesome!" feel is just there.

Did it with my main (he's on the left) and my blue/white color scheme translated perfectly to a white/blue one...not really evil per se but, he has this honking long cape....that's gotta count for something in the evil department.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. For now, I'll just deal with the lesser graphics when on my laptop.
edit: No I won't.Lenovo's site had squat for drivers and Intel's site ran me in circles...finally googled around some and found some drivers from last month. Game's back to looking and running good again.
And to think, window's said the driver was fully up to date....

So, until today, I'd been playing COH on my desktop since i17 went live and the desktop ran it fine, as I knew it would. However, my laptop (which ran the game on medium to upper medium settings very well before i17) now has the graphics looking like doodie no matter where I set the unadvanced slider to and when I try to go into advanced settings (which before i17, I had full access to all options), there's less than a handful available. All the ultra mode stuff says n/a as does the vast majority of the normal settings. The only things I can change now are the world/character quality, particle effects and full screen AA. What in the world happened to the options?
I'm running a:
Lenovo Ideapad U350
# IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® Processor (1.30GHz Dual Core 800MHz 2MB)
# Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
# Intel Integrated Graphics X4500
# 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz
# 13.3 "HD WXGA LED 1366x768
# Camera on top of screen 1.3-megapixel fixed focus
# Industry Standard Touchpad
# 320GB 5400RPM
# 4 Cell Lithium-Ion
# Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 5100
# Bluetooth Version 2.1 + EDR -
Indeed, happy 6th Anniversary COH! It's been a wild ride with ups and downs and more remakes of my main than I can keep track of. (I blame the devs for bringing out new, cool stuff that I want to reroll him into :P ) Here's to many more years of arresting bad guys in Paragon City!

Speaking as someone who missed last year's event and very much dislikes going into RV, I liked getting the AV badges.
Would I have liked to have seen more variety in the fights instead of the same few? Yes. Did I start grinning when I imagined a Dev at the keyboard with a few beers beside him going "Release the Kraken......s"? Oh yeah.

Oh Rikti you're so fine,
you're so fine you blow my mind.
HEY RIKTI! <clap><clap>HEY RIKTI! -
I'm pretty sure waaaaaay back in the day, possibly Alpha stage, AR had several different guns that each had to be drawn for a particular power. The supersoaker came about from folks complaining about the draw times.
-
I was talking to some folks the other day, musing about how Stone Armor and Assault Rifle looked way back in the day. I went through my collection of old screenies but, couldn't find any of the old SA or AR looks. Does anyone out there still have screens of the various old Stone Armors (the walking turds that they were) or the various different guns that made up the original AR set?

I'm kinda glad my kids are still just that...kids. My daughter's 13 now and while I do worry about her staying too naive, I'm also happy to know that she doesn't act like she's 20. Let em be kids while they can, adulthood hits you smack in the face fast enough as it is.
My son, I keep away from the "graphic" games because he's only 7. He doesn't need to be exposed to that until he's got a firm grasp on the concept that things on TV or movies or video games are not meant to be done in real life. I'm as pleased as punch to buy games like Donkey Kong, Pokemon or Mario Cart till the cows come home for now. -
I look at it this way, my kids are growing up in a gamer's home, bar none. They both like playing games now as well and their usual standard fare is something like GH2 or Pokemon or any of my superhero games. When I play something that's rated T+, I usually play alone and out of their sight in another room.
I remember playing God of War late one night when it came out. I was in the middle of royally tearing a new one for my foes when I heard an "Eeeeeewwww!!" from behind me. I turned around to see my then 12 year old daughter's face, eyes wide and jaw dropped in shock. She looked at me, looked back at the screen, wrinkled her nose and jetted back to her room. Needless to say, I have no worries of her shooting up a Hardees one day. -
To get an avatar under your name, you'll need a picture (80x80pixels) and host it on the internet. Many of us use www.photobucket.com It's free and has an easy interface.
Once you've uploaded the picture, you'll need to find it's direct URL address. If you use photobucket, it'll actually have the url listed below the picture.
After that, come to these forums, look at the top of the page and click on "my home". Click where it says "personal information..etc". Then scroll down to where it has a place to put the URL for your avatar in, paste the URL in and click submit.
That should get you your avatar under your name here. -
So, more than likely, we'll maybe see them on shelves this Tuesday and folks that ordered online might get them between Tuesday and Friday. Hopefully, they'll have the actual codes working by then. There's been some saying that they can't update their accounts with the boxed editions they bought. (God bless em for finding the boxes)
Has anyone actually seen anyone with the jump pack or the new costume pieces ingame yet? -

*sigh* Called about 15 Wal-Marts here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to check. Couple of them here actually knew about it, but none of them had seen it yet. Really disappointing. Kind of like being told your getting a Red Ryder bb-gun for Christmas, only to open the last box and find a pair of sox and a note for an IOU.
[/ QUOTE ]
Err, I guess the metaphor works if you already have a Red Ryder bb-gun with a slightly different trim. There isn't that much in the GvE edition.

That's not the point Clint. It wouldn't matter if it only came with a jellybean with Statesman's face on it...it was promised in plain text that we'd be able to purchase the game on a set date. As many have said, if they want to make something "exclusive" to a particular vendor, make damned sure that vendor can hold their end of the bargain. I lay blame on both NCSoft and WalMart. NCSoft for making WalMart the exclusive vendor in the first place (fer cryin' out loud people, they are NOT what you'd call a major game retailer) and WalMart for not really giving enough of a crap to get the game out when they had agreed they would.
It's not always about the shiny Clint, sometimes it's the principle. Like it or not, this has put a very bad taste in many people's mouths. -

You know, I still haven't run into any Archvillian or monster that one shotted me unless it was +3 or above. Two shotted yes. If you fight even level or +1 AVs what the heck is one shotting you so often? And if it's one or two AVs in the entire game do you think you could use an orange pill for that one encounter?
I don't know, I hate to sound like a fanboi because there is plenty still wrong with the game and SR even with this buff (cough*tohitbuffs*cough) but for me the one shot scenario is a non-issue. I have never actually encountered it in game and there is an easy and obvious way to prepare for it.
Getting two shotted has been a threat many times however.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've seen plenty melee folks one shotted by an AV. My Peacebringer was oneshotted by an even con Neuron even through my shields. Many of the AVs have some sort of alpha strike that can shred even the toughest of us apart. I'd say you've been lucky if being one shotted has never been an issue. -
Hmmm...people used to complain because the line between an Invul Tanker and an Invul Scrapper was pretty blurred....will this now blur the line between SR and Invul Scrappers? Invul has resists and defense (which seems to be Invul's best bet these days) while SR will now have defense and resists. For someone who doesn't like "cookie cutter" builds, it sure seems as though he's pushing things into that category. Hopefully there's gonna be something really good that'll still set SR and Invul apart.

* Supergroup Name:The Hrafn Warband
* Website (forums only): Hrafn Warband - Coh Forums
* Leader or Recruiting Officers: Sky-Hawke, Power Fist, Cerebus
* Preferred Method of contact: Usually ingame or PMs on these boards
* Guild Description: We're a relatively small branch of a much larger guild that spans many game. As such, we have rules/standards that we use as a guide for how we act both ingame and on forums. Basically, common sense and good manners as well as helping fellow guild mates with anything they need and being a good representative of the guild while ingame. We have an initial rank for new members (a test period if you will, to see if the player and the guild are really for each other) after which, a vote is taken on bringing the new person into the guild as a full fledged member. All members are treated as equals with the only difference being only full fledged members getting to vote on guild issues and the 3 Council (team leaders) being the ones who can call a vote. We have fun and don't take ourselves as seriously as it might seem from all this. -
There's another thread that touches on this mythology as an Incarnate's origin thing. I'll repost my theory here as well:
[ QUOTE ]
Actually, that makes perfect sense. Statesman's helmet has an almost Athenian look to it while Recluse has a Spartan look. Statesman seemed weakened by Sirroco's blade..which, I assume, is magic. Perhaps a kind of magic that interferes with his own powers.
I agree that it seems that Statesman and Recluse both found some sort of "mystic" powersource that granted them immortality and great physical powers.
Maybe, an Incarnate is granted power beyond their current levels by some deity but, certain types of magic (maybe borne from opposing deities...who knows where Sirroco (sp?) got his from?) act almost like kryptonite to them.

Synapse is definitely a blaster. Keep in mind that the Signature Characters all have Signature Powers that may fall outside their normal power sets. The power to call Zeus' Lighning reflected on Statesman's Heroclix figure and Sister Psyche's Mindriding ability (the power to bounce her mind into someone elses body) are good examples of this. You will see these fairly often in our videos, comics and other licensed properties.

Zeus's lightning eh? Yep, Greek deities granting powers...the plot thickens....

Also, in the first issue of the new comic, Recluse uses a major spell on the war walls that takes everyone's powers away...even Statesman's. So, it seems that even the uber powerful Statesman is weak against some form of magic. Interesting.

I'd say Greek Mythology seems to have a lot to do with the Incarnates. -
I think we're all missing the bigger picture here. What if COV goes live like this? Suddenly, every hero's powers go gray except for sprint and brawl...Imagine the knott in everyone's guts when Spider/Arachnos villains start attacking as well as player villains (on the Spider/Arachnos side at least) filter into what zones they can to pvp the now powerless heroes.
Even if it was debt free deaths for the duration, tell me you wouldn't plotz when all powers just simply cut off.

So, we'll have new power pools. Nice. However, this means that a lot of us will either have to hold off on leveling till issue 3 or rush to hit lvl 44 and be able to respec to the new pools. I just hit 41 and now pondering what to take. It'd kinda suck if I took something just because I had to so I could get the slots from level 42 and then, issue 3 comes out a few weeks later....with a power pool I would love to draw from. I've used my lvl 24 and 34 respecs so, guess I'd be SOL.
