Huh? Here's a beta AR shot - the gun looks just the same.
Looks like the same Super-Soaker 9000 to me.
I'm pretty sure waaaaaay back in the day, possibly Alpha stage, AR had several different guns that each had to be drawn for a particular power. The supersoaker came about from folks complaining about the draw times.

Really? And who were all those folks complaining about it waaaaaay back in Alpha? Could you have meant Beta 1? When I started my AR in Jan. of '04, it was Beta 2, and the Super-Soaking was all we got back then, too.

It would be so easy to make a nice looking streamlined rifle that people would love. And the argument about firing different types of ordinance is moot. It could be like the Lawgiver firearm that Judge Dredd used in the movie. Same gun, different types of ordinance brought up by voice command. Use that line of thinking and we could have a cool looking Assault Rifle.

If it's going to do the flamethrower thing then it's going to need to look a tad super-soaker'ish because it has to be able to spray liquid. And those M30 grenades aren't exactly tiny, they need a big barrel. And you ain't gonna snipe with a big barrel so you need a long, small barrel as well.

As a guy who's main is an assault rifle blaster, I actually thought the gun design was practical and kinda neat looking. Honest. *keeps one eye on the emergency exit*

I was talking to some folks the other day, musing about how Stone Armor and Assault Rifle looked way back in the day. I went through my collection of old screenies but, couldn't find any of the old SA or AR looks. Does anyone out there still have screens of the various old Stone Armors (the walking turds that they were) or the various different guns that made up the original AR set?
