  3. @SkyRocker and @SkyRocker 2.0 - 60 and 36 months respectively. Been gaming for a looooong time, starting with the arcades back in the 80's, through the original Nintendo up to the PS2. Quake in the early 90's and other FPS's were my original PC games. First MMO was "Anarchy Online", played that for about 6 months before I jumped ship to CoH.

I love to team, most of my character's search box says "ANY team ANY time" or some variation of that. I haven't made any real friends in the game, I play odd hours and many different characters. Meaning I can meet someone on one character and by the time I get back to that one (alt-ititus) they're 10 or more levels above me.

It's cool though, I can find a team most anytime day or night and regardless of what some of the hard-core SG members will say, PuG's are NOT all knuckleheads. I PuG exclusively and have had 95% positive experiences with them.

I'm not a min/maxer although all of my characters tend to be IO'd out starting at level 27 so they tend to hold their own in any given situation. As a player, I tend to pay a lot of attention to my attack chain, synergy with the other player's powers, and filling the role in the team where my character best fits in.
  4. If you need any help, someone to run missions with, etc, my globals are @SkyRocker and @SkyRocker 2.0 and Virtue is my home server. See the game is so great I have 2 accounts!

    Welcome back.

Yeah I remember when it was an accomplishment to be able to run from one side of the Hollows to the other at level 5. Those of us that would make it, would watch the health bars of those that didn't, go slowly (and sometimes very quickly) red, then they'd start the trek from Atlas and try again.

    Those were the days

Looking at getting a new, yet cheap laptop and wondering what kind of settings ya all think the "NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS" would run. Im guessing Ultra mode is out of the question.

If anyone has such a card Im curious for feedback on it as well
Dunno how they compare, but my laptop, Dell Vostro 1500, has an 8400m graphics adapter and my son uses it for CoH when he plays on the weekends. I don't thin it'll run full on Ultra Mode, but before UM came out, he has the settings up pretty high and the game runs pretty smoothly for him.
  7. YIKES!! What an experience. Good luck with Mr Beam, my friend, hope he helps ya out some.

Close, just polished off a Big Mac and vanilla shake. McD's in our area is having a 2 for $4 sale and the wife ate the other one. Getting ready to drink some ice water now, and cleanse the palate. They've started putting whipped cream (yuk!) on the shakes and it definitely leaves an aftertaste!

    1) If you click on an enemy and get his info, there is a tab showing what salvage he/she will drop.

    2) Enemies that tend to drop magic enhancements will also tend to drop magic salvage. Enemies that drop tech/science enhancements tend to drop tech salvage. "Natural" enemies tend to drop both, or either one.
True, I had forgotten about that! Thanks. I do kind of want some sort of chart for like when I'm picking newspaper/radio mishes, so I can maybe pick most likely suspects, but this will definitely do in a pinch. Thanks!

    Enemy Drops?

I thought that I saw a chart once that told what enemies dropped what salvage and/or enhancements. For example if I were looking for "Reactive Gas" (tech salvage) I would fight these guys, or if I wanted Natural enhancements I would fight those guys.

I've searched and searched and can't find it, anyone remember seeing that, or know where to find this info?

    TIA

I was thinking either Virtual PC (Microsoft) or the free VMWare version. But I guess if they don't do 3D that's the end of that!

Wow, what a knucklehead! They'd rather not have it at all, than to wait a bit for it? After reading this thread yesterday, I had a burning desire to play my earth/kin so I logged on and played him. My observations are that soem folks would rather that be all that you do, they wouldn't mind if you did nothing else but follow the team around and keep everyone sb'd, some folks don't care they can take it or leave it.

I got kicked from an ITF once because apparently I wasn't applying SB "right". It was our 4th time trying to take down Rommy, unsuccessfully, and the leader called me an "Idiot", blamed our lack of success on my inability to apply sb "correctly" and kicked me. LOL! I was ready to log anyway, so I just made my personal note for that character (NEVER EVER TEAM W/ AGAIN!) and logged.
  15. Wondering if anyone does this? I'm thinking a fresh install of Win7 x64, setting up VM's for my wife and myself, install her apps in hers and mine in mine, partially for security, partially for the convienence of being able to revert to a snapshot if something goes wrong. Plus my CoX VM would be as bare as possible to help the game run as fast as possible.

    Running Win7 x64 AMD X2+ 5800 dual core CPU w/ 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9800GT GPU.

    TIA

I agree with this completely IF the OP was saying that they needed to ask/thank EVERY TIME. Politeness is nice, to a point. I have a keybind, shift+t that says "Thanks!" that I use when appropriate, getting a fortune, or getting rezzed, gratz'd or something out of the ordinary. I don't thank a teamate for every buff, but I do thank them for critical buffs that may have helped keep me and/or the team alive and functioning.

If I'm the buffer I don't mind the team letting me know if the buff's drop and need to be re-applied, but SB is one of those ones that people can be especially demanding of. Now I know why some people call it "crack". I actually avoid playing my eart/kin 'troller sometimes because it's just not worth the effort...

Yeah I think that people, myself included, started calling it the sound loop crash because of the awful sounds it would make over and over and over and...

Anyway, update, earlier today I played for 2 hours or so with a different character, did a Manti TF with no crashes at all. Going to play for a bit tonight and see if I get any. Hopefully whatever it was is gone.

I've tried different characters to see if it was caused by the sounds of the powers without success.
Crashed 7 times on an ITF, very frustrating. Played another character for about an hour before the ITF and no crashes, going back in to play some more and see if it happens again. Pretty much the same setup you have except I have an Nvidia 9800GT.

    Thankyou very much!
    I use:

    SHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name Teleport"

Then I just hold down the shift key and click where I want to go.

My first PC was a Tandy. TL-1000 to be exact. My first computer was an Atari 800 w/48k, and at the time that was the most RAM you could get. I remember Texas Instruments had a computer but it had less than 48k.
  21. Dunno if this will help everyone, but the game was almost unplayable since I17 with the mapservers, rubberbanding, etc. I switched from windowed to full screen, and that helped a LOT for me. I also disabled the occlusion (sp?) settings and took a few other things down. I played for an hour or so, fullscreen, and no mapserves or rubberbanding, I tried the occlusion on the lowest setting and immediately got mapserved.

I'm pretty sure for me switching to fullscreen helped the most so if you're currently playing windowed, try fullscreen.
  22. I've only seen it work when I'm on teams. It shows up as red arrows. It's only ever been the last few enemies, not glowies so I don't know if it's different for them.

But it hasn't worked for me solo, only on teams, and then only a few times. I don't know if it's working as intended, or still needs a few bugs shaken out.

Why, is that good or bad? In the past, according to some tips here I had a few ports forwarded for CoH, but checking my router, the only port I have forwarded is for my bitorrent client. I'm having the same problems as the OP, does port forwarding for CoX help or hurt?

My strategy has been to play lowbie alts, some that I created especially for I17, that way I don't have to worry too much about getting something really awesome, or NOT getting something really awesome cause I'm full. Most of the stuff they've gotten I can vendor.

This might be a great time to petition the devs for some sort of alternative storage space, seeing how the market being down has had to have inconvienced (sp?) a lot of folks.
