I hate going to the dentist!!
Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel I just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth remove about 1 1/2 months ago. I',m so glad they knock me out for that. Put yea the pain is nuts after the novocaine wears off.

Wow that is really awful. I had my wisdom teeth cut out a few years ago, but they put me to sleep so I didn't have any kind of experience (I did request to keep my teeth, I still have them in a little ziplock bag; so does Ele from when he got his cut out as well). They didn't have to break them or anything. I can't imagine being conscious during something like that though, I'm sorry you went through something like that.

I stopped reading your story because....I hate dentist's too! (and it freaks me out hearing/reading things that deal with teeth/mouth).
Oh and yeah, btw, I'm going to have a root canal done on me this coming up Wednesday....on the same tooth that had a root canal done years ago!

I had to get x-rays when I had my wisdom teeth out as well--even though the dentist already took some. The oral surgeon's staff said it was because their x-ray doesn't give enough info (theirs rotated completely around my head... freaky).
Funny part was waking up from the anesthesia. They were all surprised that I was ready to go so fast, and that I wasn't all woozy still. I seem to recover from it pretty fast, which is good.
My dad was nice and got me some ice cream and some movies to watch afterward. We had a nice marathon of Bridge Over the River Kwai, The Dirty Dozen, and Force Ten From Navronne. Good times, even if my mouth was numb and I had to keep wiping it to keep from drooling.
Probably the worst part of it all was the weeks afterward. I didn't get any infections, but I had to keep cleaning the sockets out while they healed up (they gave me a syringe and told me to use warm water). Nothing like seeing what you ate for supper a few hours later.

Bah. You could have done that yourself.
One of the miners/laborers in my old company was Chico. Huge Mexican with a giant mustache. Nicest guy you've ever met, but LORD was mountain of a man. Guy was built like a linebacker. He once took out one of his own infected teeth with a pair of pliers and a bottle of tequila.

That sucks, KT... I'm a little shocked they tried to push the dental implants on you. Here's hoping you'll feel better soon!

Ouch, I absolutely hate teeth in general. I had to get my wisdoms out a week ago. It sucked.
I say we all just forget dentist and do what we did back in the day - brush our teeth once a week - with elephant tusks!
My wisdom teeth are barely even formed up. Yay for teething late.
I know your pain KT. I'm apparently allergic to something in the novacaine family; it turns into a pretty bad psychotic paranoid trip from hell. So I don't usually get much of any kind of pain killer for teeth work or other minor surgeries unless they have other stuff on hand.
But you're a man. You'll be on for Tuesday.......
I've already forgotten about most of you
God I hate going to the dentist. Had a really bad toothache in one of my molars so I set up an appointment and went in to get it checked out. I was thinking it was a cavity and they'd drill it out. Dentist takes an x-ray, looks it over, and tells me it isn't a cavity it's an abscess (infection) under two teeth. Then he tells me those two teeth will have to come out so they can clean the abscess out, wonderful. So they set up an appointment to go to an oral surgeon to yank the teeth.
Luckily the surgeon could see me today so I head over, fill out a bunch of paperwork and wait. Then they stick me in this upright x-ray machine and take another x-ray (and charge me more money.) Then they put me in the chair and shoot me full of novocaine. The surgeon leaves while the novocaine takes effect but he left the tray full of tools he was going to use. These fuggin things looked like medieval torture instruments, all blades and hooks and stainless steel. Once I'm numb he comes back and gets to work. I can't feel anything from the teeth but I can feel the pressure of the teeth getting yanked out of my jaw and what's worse I can hear him yanking them out and then scraping out the infection.
When they're all done they notice I'm pale and sweating and want to know if I'm all right? You just yanked two teeth out of my mouth, of course I'm not all right, what are you nuts? After the procedure (torture) the surgeon leaves and his assistant tells me what I can get to replace the two teeth. I can get a denture or I can get dental implants. She quotes me a price of 4 grand for the implants and I tell her no. She immediately drops the price to 3,500 but I'm still not interested. I'm not paying thousands for implants just get me some dentures so I can chew. Then she asked how I wanted to pay, I said teeth...she didn't find that funny.
So now I'm sitting here eating ice cream and waiting for the bleeding to stop. The novocaine has pretty much worn of but it really doesn't hurt although I think I'll hang out with Mr. Beam in a little bit.
