Have we talked about possibly nerfing stalkers yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoops, looks like that forum reader perception nerf has gone live.
[ QUOTE ]
Or it could be I misread the title of this section of the forums thinking 'General discussion' meant just that not 'General abuse'
[/ QUOTE ]
Looked more like a case of self abuse. This will lead to the perception nerf mentioned above, so be sparing. -
Frankly the constant adjustment of game balance in response to both player feedback and in-house expertise the Devs seem to deem necesary is quite impressive.
1/ They balance both under- and over-performing AT's whilst generally leaving alone those that really do perform the function they were designed for (Yes I'm looking at you Fire/kins and stone tanks)
2/ They spend an unspecified amount of time with their DPS counters and Animation timers out critiquing their own work, again based on in-house expertise, whilst at the same time creating new content for us all to enjoy in the form of the next Issue.
At the end of the day as we contribute to their salary via subscriptions shouldn't they be doing the jobs as specified by their employers and according to their own experience as modified by player feedback, not appeasing whingers?
A famous old phrase goes 'If it ain't broke then you've not been testing hard enough'. -

I don't see why we can't have a similar mask, then.

"Why hello Stateman, Statesmans, Statemans., Statman, Statmans, and STAETSman!" -
PvP can be fun, I've dipped in from time to time. But the fun is always, always spoiled by the appearance of one or more Stalkers. Ignoring for a second they can rip most non-Tanks in half by flicking a fingernail at them, placate followed by stealth and superspeed means it's virtually impossible to track and take them down unless you're constantly eating yellows on top of an impressive +Perc toggle.
Stalkers make PvP frustrating and pointless for non-Stalker Heroes, either solo or as part of a team. And that is mainly why I do not PvP. -
It's a nice though, but in addition to fundamentally changing gameplay I think you would open an unbelievably large can of do not want. Precision blasters would suffer, for instance.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Really? Want a list of observations I made that have come true? It's really pretty big you know.
[/ QUOTE ]
WANT!
That said, some of you folks are being a bit abusive to our boy here. That's a road to fail. -

One thing you'll never get me on is this subject.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHA!!!

Play nice, children. Another fabulous doom post fattened out by bickering forumites.
As long as teams are still happy to see Tanks, Scrappers, Brutes and (even) Stalkers I cannot see them becoming obsolete. Not to mention the soloing Scrappers, Brutes and Stalkers I see flying/running/bouncing around across the landscape in play. -

Once the avalanche has started, it is to late for the pebbles to vote.

Who are you? What do you want? Where are my pants? -
Fair points, Praf and Carnifex both. What I would like to see less of is one-line (or one-word *) dismissive responses to suggestions.
Not everyone comes from a project management and/or software development background - sometimes a flight of fantasy can make great reading, or at least be a laugh. Inspiration can leap from the daftest of places.
That said, whilst I have anyone's attention at all, I would ask them to have a look at the sticky in this forum. If nothing else it's interesting reading.
(* B5 is an acceptable reason, if only because the truth is a three-edged sword.) -
[ QUOTE ]
So I'm fronting the battle cry on behalf of this game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I put it to you that the game may not need you to speak on its behalf. I say that not out of spite or malice - you've got a (maybe overly?) keen eye on the PR side of things. But I have to ask - does the infection of multiple threads with apparent doom mongering and persistant demands for advanced information really help the PR process?
Does it?
If you are this concerned (and you may be rightly so) - why not get some grass roots campaigning going on this and other forums? Use these insights to a positive end. Prove that these are not merely impatient demands for information from NC.
Go forth like a herald! Hell, take a silver surfboard with you. -

Just look at Devices' turret which changed to a flying machine of almost uselessness, which affected Malta's turrets (which were better than player versions anyway) so that they could fly too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I quite like my flying rocket turret. With a little slotting and occasionally remembering to hit the clickie before a fight it's a nice little spur to my Archer's overall damage. -
[ QUOTE ]
I personally have deleted a lvl 30 PB + Lvl 34 WS.. I'm sure many of you are in the same boat.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not me. I have a triform PB at 50, and boy that was alot of fun. My WS is sat at lvl 20 only because I've not entirely decided what way to go and I'm currently having fun with some other characters.
On a logic side I don't think that dev time would be plowed into an AT that can only be unlocked by getting another unlockable toon to 50, which in turn needs a toon that needs to be raised to 50.
From an aestetic point of view I would rather see something completely different. If I were a gambling fellow I would say the next Epic AT we will see will be a Rogue in whatever form it takes. If I were to dare to make a suggestion I'd say that I'd like to see a neutral epic based on Technology (since we have Natural and Science already) - some sort of nanotech-based AT perhaps. -
It's a good shortcut to destructible terrain. I like it!
-
New posters posting a new thread and stirring up some interest? How dare they! Such impudence! Put them in their place, old timers!
Mak tal shree! Lok tak. Mekta satak Oz! Mok tal Oz kree! -

And I guess something like this brought out the worst in me, not for the first time. I'm sorry.
[/ QUOTE ]
Recovery and self awareness! Genuine joy in seeing a thread on a downward spiral pick itself up.
You are not wrong, the restrictions are a little too high. However I would rather see an initial erring towards strictness that has resulted, certainly for me, a less cluttered and annoying experience. Now, with some course correction, the restrictions can be loosened with the valuable feedback. And then perhaps tightened again as the pendulum swings back and forth in ever-decreasing arcs towards the Ideal.
edit: rockandrollrebel - I think you are wrong. Do not make your post a self fulfilling prophecy. Lionsbane gets passionate on marketing and PR issues because (I gather from other posts he has made) it is his job and his vocation the lucky fellow - not everyone gets to make those two the same thing. As you saw he pulled back from a dangerous spiral. Follow his example I say - add something constructive, some insight? Anyone can 'DOOOM'. -
[ QUOTE ]
So after the huuuuuuuge thread already discussing the same thing you had to infect this one with it Lionsbane?
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
[/ QUOTE ]
Nearly, buddy. It's:
"Tell me stuff SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON [tm]!" -
I thought it meant "Incubator for baby forumites". Or possibly a disturbing visual of the Queen from Aliens tapping away at a keyboard.
Cheers for the update! -

Way to post like a complete jackass

Reporting your post to mods
[/ QUOTE ]
Congratulations, you win the "Coffee Stained Monitor Seal of Approval". I tell you something, strong Monsoon Malabar blasted out of your nostrils doesn't half chafe. I have a few tips I've learned the hard way from also posting with poor judgement in the past:
1. Don't post a quote of someone else's post that scrolls several pages and then accuse them of questionable posting,
2. Don't post in anger.
3. Never post in rage.
I'd also caution against telling people not to 'lose it' then posting,
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, so narrow minded, so selfish, you may as well just say "I like them as they are WAHHH WAHH WAHHH, i dont want to discuss things, if anyone says something I dont agree with I will lie about them and spread misinformation based on nothing but my own BS"
[/ QUOTE ]
You get kudos for making the most believable impression of the 'Wahmbulance' I've seen to date, however. -
RPer snobbery! Outstanding.
"Oh no, those arn't *our* sort of roleplayers. We keep the riff raff out..." -
PuGs are great for finding yet more good players and adding them to your friends list, or even globals if you either team with them a few times or just hit it off with them (think about a third of my globals list were made that way).
I had a very bad PuG experience recently, but generally I've not let it put me off joining or building PuG teams. -

To the best of my knowledge, RPers don't actually bother ANYone... Of course, I can only speak for myself and the friends and people I RP with.
[/ QUOTE ]
The only time it bothers me is when I occasionally zip through Pocket D with a pre-Ouroborus toon picking up scintillating conversation fragments from the bar such as:
"So what are you doing here?"
"lol"
"I am Evenbland of the Far City Nostril, come to do/fight justice by hanging around at a bar and trying to chat up people whom I *assume* are played by chix" (I may be paraphrasing here)
"^_^"
"lol"
"Interesting" (perenial LARP speak too)
"Do not touch/look at/lick me puny mortal!"
"lol"
And so on ad nauseum.
Personally I think the problem is down to Farmers/ED/Lack of Animated Hair/Devz0rs hat0rz uz. We need i13 details NOWNOWNWO damnit!!!1 -
[ QUOTE ]
Firstly folks really need to read what has gone before as im having to repeat myself quite at the moment because folks are only responding to a response or two previous and so arent in full possession of the details they are repsonding about
...
Now admitedly all that could be a complete fiction made up by them both though for the sake of robbing someones salavage racks I cant see them constructing an entire fake life..can you? He may have been a muppet but he wasnt machiavellan lol
[/ QUOTE ]
The first part of the above quote isn't helping you out, I suspect. It leads me to two possible conclusions:
1. You are not sure what you are looking from this thread. More sympathy? Cyclic grinding of points and a refusal to acknowledge disagreeable positions reduces this likelihood. I would consider busking or a whist drive if I were you.
2. You are the one that is not fully reading what is being posted. Turn about - fair play?
As for the second part - I could absolutely believe someone would make up a set of false RL details if they are prepared to infiltrate an SG to swipe all the sweet lute. To assume otherwise is naivety. "LOL."
[ QUOTE ]
"I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. Broadcast flames on fire off the shoulder of Orion Beltway. I watched gold-spam glitter in the mailbox near the Talos Island Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like debt on your main. Time to log off."
[/ QUOTE ]
Outstanding and nuanced. My hat goes off to you. -
A vast majority of my PuG experiences are positive, to the point that I'll even accept a blind invite if I am not doing anything else at the time. I've even been on a PuG ITF that worked very well around the time it was launched.
Building PuG teams can also be extremely rewarding. -
[ QUOTE ]
But the main issue for me is that as things stand he has essentially been protected by the current rules and policies in place
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Existing policies do not cover such an incident - there is no recourse here. It's unfortunate you got conned, but arguing on for 'justice' in the face of responses from Red names and (arguably) experienced players does seem like either a venting exercise or a fools errand. It serves no purpose.
Instead of railing against the known and officially acknowledged shortcomings of the existing system and entering questionable debates of morality why not explore ways of stopping this from happening?
From memory the most common request is to allow seperate permissions for each individual storage unit by both group and/or individual player access. Example: the top quality swag can go in a 'bosses only' access storage bin, each player has a storage bin, and one or more storage bins exist for communal use. This won't protect you from getting conned by someone for access to the sweet lute though.
An idea I had triggered by this thread was some sort of per-instance permission system - an sg member effectively submits an order form for the items they want to take out of storage (e.g. "3 green insps, a Photonic Thingy salvage and 12 Nimrod salvages"). The person in charge of the sg storage gives a yes/no response next time they log on.
There's alot of problems with the above system. It's not instant, it needs a scheme to resolve the cases of when permission granter leaves the sg or does not sign in for a long time, and it smacks of control freakery. It *is* a sure fire way to stop someone swiping all the sweet lute however.
