Quote:Nope, but thankfully after I have already discarded the creepy folks, I can pay more attention to the social cues of people that only make my radar twitch instead of scream.Because all people who might want to harm children appear inherently creepy?
Quote:Here's an idea, rather than just judging someone on first impressions, actually get to know someone before leaving your children with them.
I would never leave my children with someone I'd only met once, regardless of my first impressions.
Quote:Why do you believe that a bad person can never give a good first impression and a good person can never give a bad one?
But to say that one should ignore first impressions is foolish IMO. -
Quote:Yes they should. If someone creeps me the **** out upon meeting them for the first time, I am not going to leave my kids with them.Yes, human-beings naturally judge someone based upon first impressions, but, that's not a good thing.
It's an animal instinct left over from millions of years ago. It's the main cause of racism and most bigotry.
Yes, humans do judge based upon first impressions, but they shouldn't.
I can logically work my way through and ignore ridiculous stereotypes and avoid bigotry and racism.
It's survival instinct, and my experiences in life have taught me not to ignore it. -
Oh! Hi dug. Where you been?

Quote:Interesting, let me try.Like any addiction, if you go out and say, Hey, from the looks of it, Id say you are showing classic symptoms of an addiction. Most of the time, well outside those one or two, they will absolutely deny any addiction and say their behavior is absolutely normal behavior. The more people try to convince an addict that they have a problem, the more they probably will deny it. This usually end the way it began. The addict will still be an addict and the person that pointed it out gets no closer to doing anything useful to get that addict to see the addiction, the unnatural and potentially, in some cases, dangerous behavior.
Like any deviancy, if you go out and say, Hey, from the looks of it, Id say you are showing classic symptoms of being bat **** crazy. Most of the time, well outside those one or two (examples?), they will deny any abnormality and say their behavior is absolutely fine. The more people try to convince the loon that they have a problem, the more the kook will resist reality. This will usually end the way it began, except with a large population all facepalming at the same time. The nutter will still be a flake and the people that point it out are no closer to getting the crackpot to see their behavior deficiency. This is perfectly natural and in most cases, working as intended.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your... Er, someone elses I guess, thesis(maybe) on gaming addiction. Maybe this should be posted in the guides section as there isn't much fun about it at all... -
Quote:First impressions and all that. I have stopped listening to a few different bands music because I had the unfortunate chance to interact with them after the show. It's a shame, because I really liked their music, but I am not going to pay someone to piss* on me.He could have just been having a bad day.
I don't know, I've never met the guy, he could be a complete ****-hole for all I know, but one bad encounter is hardly enough to make such a judgement.
And, as a general observation, people on internet forums seem to love finding fault with the personalities of web-comic artists, for some reason.
One bad encounter is enough. They will need to work hard to get me to change my impression of them.
*At no point was I actually pissed on at a concert. -
Have always preferred Perez over Hollows for my hazard zone street sweeping. Much like Crey's Folly over Eden and Terra over DA.

Quote:Why wern't you on the writing team again?I'd like to take this moment to announce a new effort.
Please help Alpha Wolf stay at Level 1! We need the community to really band together to help train as many purple mobs to Alpha Wolf, wherever he is. Don't think of this as griefing, think of this as helping him become a stronger, more durable and more seasoned player. It's like how Daniel-San learned how to be a Karate Master and a better person by having all of the cool kids in his high school relentlessly harass him, beat him up, and even break his leg so he could learn how to fit in.
The winner will find out Alpha Wolf's secret identity of Clark Kent!
Whoops. -
Quote:I remember this. Fun was indeed had.Badge was a good one for odd ideas. He was also all about getting a bunch of us to go over to other servers in large groups and in one theme. I think the first time was to have everyone doing /e newspaper, but it was different every time.
The reactions of the other servers varied, but the best one was Justice, who decided to try to do the same thing back to us.
So we held a Robot Rampage on their gathering.
Fun was had by all. (not kidding, either. There was a lot of comments much the same as your own about this idea.)
My favorite was herding a full map to a designated trip mine field set by my buddy. No aggro or aoe caps for the win. -
Just to update. On Virtue tonight, we actually had an iTrial team running. Was good to see peeps coming out to run a few trials again.

Quote:Www.reddit.com I apologize in advance if you go there and find yourself getting up from your chair 3 days later covered in your own filth. But, better yours than someone else's no?And this is why I hate memes. I have never even heard a hint of that one before a minute ago. It would seem I don't spend enough time on the internet? I mean, where do folks actually see these things?
-
Yep. Pretty sure it's my favorite mission in the game.

This has been my experience as well. Morale seems to be at an all time low, and the folks that are playing seem to be trying to lvl their lowbies up.
I know it does nothing for incarnate content, but I tend to fill teams very easily if running a decent arc like Maria or some such.
Also, I am playing on virtue. -
Can someone Eventually transcribe what tony has said. Too much jibber jabber going on.

My first 50 will be most likely rounding up critters in boomtown and frying them off like he just got burn again. My other account may hero watch in atlas and reflect on my first log in.

Yes. It doesn't need an explanation.

We need a missed connections sub forum.
I am amused at the thought of the dude trying to plug your globals into working phone number.
