Quote:If there is 1 thing i will never look at, when choosing a set, it will be PVP, specialy if the given set still gives big issues on the pets behaviour. One thing I can say is Ninja/TA is very good in PvP.
Ninjas do a ton of ST damage, combine that with Oil Slick, Disruption Arrow, and Acid Arrow=watch the numbers fly.
Oni's hold, Ice Arrow, Patron Hold = hold bosses and players.
Oni's Rain of Fire on Oil Slick is nice as well.
Don't worry too much about Ninjas survivability, unless you are going Bots/FF/Traps(and even then) every MM pet dies, easily at 50.
I do have to say my ninja's on both /dark as /pain are pretty sturdy, /dark having the huge -hit that helps on their defense, while /pain gives healing and a nice resist buff giving them a bit more toughness.
They even stay together more then mercs or thugs, making it way easier to heal them back to full health (along with /dark softcontrol). -
When was your latest update on the launcher? I believe somewhere last week there was an update that made the launcher non-responding for several people. (where re-install was the easiest/cheapest way).

Quote:Its getting a quite common case now that majority of Ati people (specialy 64bit users) having crash-issues. Dumping an output wont help much, rather pick the AMD topic itself and post relative info there (the crash-dump output).I'd recommend starting a thread in the Tech Issues forum, linking back to this thread, and including a copy of the logs from CoH Helper and HiJack This. The people that frequent that section generally know their stuff with various tech issues.

Quote:Offcourse, but aint different from the various tank-sets, some can counter many, some can counter little (FA vs elec or inv for example). Not at all defenders, Corruptors and controllers have mez protection. There are certain sets that allow for it but its not like ever defender takes that, nor does every Controller take the Psi Mastery pool.
But over time, you learn your prefered playstyle and pick the sets that suit this style. The odd few times you are doing missions solo, i still play blasters but mostly just in parties. -
Exact same issue here, Ati drivers, no doubt. CoH just hates Ati, or Ati hates OpenGL, in short... only in time maybe there will be more stable drivers.

Quote:Only shortly ago i went back to do some missions on my granite, all people fearing those Super Stunners. Though with rooted, i didnt even see anything happening except from some lightning going around on the floorYes the end drain resistance is awesome. my elec/elec tanker is about the only tank I have that shrugs off those (in my opinion) way over powered Freak Super Stunners, or whatever the new unit is called. Gahh! My WP/FM tanker with stamina and quick recovery 3 slotted was drained by one of those things >.<

Tomax got it nicely shown on all fiery embrace buffable powers (melee set of brute and tanker etc).
For example:
http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...attle_Axe.Gash
•44.49 Lethal damage PvE only
•20.02 Fire damage (0% chance)
When you hit fiery embrace, the 0% becomes a 100% chance.
Quote:I believe on one of the old dev talks about Dual pistols, they did say the entire 'clip swap' was based on 0% and 100% procs. The suppressive fire has 100% chance of stun and 0% chance of hold, if you select a clip, it will swap to the right 100% chance. (-100% stun, +100% hold), same for the damage. And I wouldn't call it a proc. Unless you count Dual Pistols as a proc set (every power in Dual Pistols uses the same mechanic for enabling the different damage types and effects.)
(kinda like how stealth works from the run IO, if just gives 100% proc chance once activated). -
There is a Freakshow mission (and also a Carnival version i believe?), wich kinda reasemble how the old PDP looked like. Lemme dig through some screenshots, i think i still have some.

Kinda the reason i gave up blasters. Yeah they ditch out more damage then their 'counterparts' (domi, defender, corrupter), but those nearly have all some sort of status protection where controller can get additonal mez-protection from Psionic mastery (though base cooldown of 360, having it up 50% of the time by just 3 recharge SO's give its great value).
Also you have the stun grenades, wich (if they are equal to the AR M30 grenade) is a AoE typed ability and bypass your ranged defense completly. Against rikti i just gave up, you can basicly have a tray full and still get mezzed while getting whooped by a rikti blade.
Blasters are fun in a party where someone else is taking the beating, thats where i like to do my thing. Solo, no way. -
I came to the point to start a dual boot with Win7 32bit and 64bit, as under no circumstances the 32bit Windows 7 crashes. Both clients were idle in Atlas AE near peaktime, where my 64bit locks pretty much every 20-25 minutes, the 32bit just keeps running without a single problem.
The only crash i had so far on 32bit was during stresstest few days ago, but i gues thats more the timeout of the mapserver then the client itself. -
Quote:Are we talking just 'spawns' or ambush spawns? (that goes up to 40-50 mobs). A decent ambush farm takes well over 20 minutes (BAF hall beasts) and gives you little to no space to run dry in insperations and having 16 mobs continues slamming on average resist, you wont last that very long on just 30% defense.Softcap is over-rated. As some have mentioned, the secret is good Inspy use.
My Shield tank (dont remember exactly) sits around low to mid 30s without IOs, has some endurance issues which are also fixable with Inspies and destroys spawns ( Shield/SS ).
The more you can focus on the base triangle, the less you rely on insperations.
The 3 tanks (ice, shield, inv) hit softcap with powers that are commonly chosen, there is no need to skip such and go spam insperations if you could get the easy way.
Every wasted purple because you didnt want to go softcap is 25% dmg lost, i rather pick the damage then skipping powers that i have place for anyway. -
Ageless destiny is new, Tier9 endcrash been around since they made the powers. There are quite a few ways to continue the fight after you popped the tier9. Just pop a few blue and you should be ok untill your recovery kicks back in, from Ice epic you can take hibernate wich gives you a new recovery, an empatch can use that errr.. recovery buff on you, kin troller/defender can use the end-gain power (old days people would actualy pay attention to what others were doing, rather then just spam stuff). /elec and /fire blasters have the +end drain power (dark too?).
Solo its mostly a 'oooooh foook!' moment, where the ice blaster version is probably one of the strongest versions (knockdown and flee) in terms of survivability (pop a blue and use the 2 holds to shut down possible bosses).
Agree, incarnate power does bring the 'frequent' use of the T9 nuke, but the way to handle with crash-nukes is the same as 16 issues ago. -
Gave me lotsa time to play around on the beta server with the powerset
And it looks damn juicy, 9% base defense, 12% base tohit-debuff, heal, rechargebonus, i say very viable for my new farm corrupter -
Quote:Doesnt have anymore.. it used to have the effectBurn doesn't have any hard coded fear effects, but mobs naturally try to avoid damage patches and run if they are taking damage too quickly, so without an inherent taunt mobs may try to escape burn.
Personally with it's low values and lack of taunt I think FA is fairly poor for scrappers. -
I can recall there was a topic about this back on the old EU forums, believe it was bridger that gave more info about this.
But boils down indeed to the part most were just fictional, later some were modified and became 'ingame heroes'. -
Combined with the maintaince, it was nearly a full day downtime.
Personaly the most annoying part was the fact initialy mostly EU players and early US players were online when they started parties on Pocket D. They started giving out random codes for costumes, but as time passed more and more US people came online.
Eventualy Avatea (who did a awsome job though, and she is shy on the webcam!) was doing a rock/paper/scissors match with a huge bunch of US players, maybe would give out few remaining EU codes afterwards. At 1am the US thingie was still going, its pretty lame that the 'few little good thingies for EU players' was overwhelmed with US players comming online.
I did enjoy the Ustream, but eventualy was way too much trashtalk going on. -

From all my years of tanking with every tank-set around, far out Granite (stone) remains 1 of the toughest to take down, but Inv comming pretty close second due the huge defense they gain from their toggle (and tohit).
But there is no tank that can jump in any given group of mobs, positional defense typed will have a huge advantage versus Psi based mobs (wich is the weakness on many tanksets), but they also have lesser resistance to migiate the hits that will pass their defenses.
With only Granite (and stoneskin) you hit cap SL and nearly 80% resist all-non-psi, 32% defense to all except Psi, you can bump this up with Weave, Manu and 3% global to push it near the 45% softcap. From there a bunch of sets you can easily take away the -60% recharge (im at 67.50% atm).
As you take tough/weave (incase you want the 45% softcap), you can even tank pre-32 content, not perfectly par with other tanks, but with a pretty heavy defense against E/NE, Psi and S/L, along with moderate resistance against fire/ice. But the drawback, you have to use rooted to have mez-protection, so you will be still slow and stuck to the floor.
To bump up your survival even further, ice melee. With huge ammount of -slow, a single target hold, a knockdown icepatch (perma) and a AoE footstomp-alike sleep (same dmg/recharge). True, doesnt work against AV's, but against missions, icepatch keeps down several mobs at a time -
As for the perma, it will change like the Tier9 from Shield and willpower, unaffected by recharge bonus/buffs so it will always hve a cooldown (well, unless you use afterburner once).
-
This might be linked to the server goofing up, since the last update people have issues with 'stuck on activating clickies' and sometimes entirely vanishing buff/debuff icons.
In short, this more likely due some serverside issues then MM pets itself. -
Yeah maintaince till 11.15pm, lets up the entire day of downtime

Rule #1 : Never.ever.touch.Granite
Serious, never.
Granite is what granite always has been, pre-ED, pre-hitcap, pre-villains, pre-IO's and pre-everything. -
Quote:Well, Freedom in the current state aint different.. AE is the place to be and hit 50 in roughly 2 days max, the ability to change your primairy or secondairy once you hit 50 through the store, wont give that much impact. Those don't have the potential to drastically cut down the amount of time people invest in playing the game. Being able to basically buy your way to 50 on a new powerset, I'd hazard, would result in many people spending a lot less time playing (which will translate into less money for NCSoft). The question is, does the shortening of play time and the corresponding less of incoming from that exceed the income made from lessing the powerset/AT respec (I'd say probably).
Im not saying they will come soon or in this state, but there will be some sort of 'respec' eventualy available.
