Quote:RoA + Fistfull of Arrows + Explosive Arrow outdamage Ice Storm + Blizzard, and they're still more practical (Blizzard is overkill more often than not, overkill = wasted damage)Maybe, but Blizzard + Ice Storm outdamages RoA since we're comparing the AOE total of a powerset and not just 2 powers.
It's also very easy to gimp yourself on the process, and it still won't beat Fire/Shield + Kin/Arch ^_^Quote:True enough, but it's really cheap to build a 45+ S/L & E defense Ice/Kin Corr and then stack Increased Density with Tough to get about 45% S res and 30% E res. That's comparable S (not as much L) & E mitigation to a SD scrapper. And with S/L & E mitigation of that level, I'm sure people can guess what the farming mobs are. -
Quote:Yes, Archery also has Fistful of Arrows and Explosive ArrowWould RoA make up the difference from Short C and Ball Lightning both v fast and holding 3 procs each ?
RoA outdamages Blizzard (as per ingame numbers) and it doesn't have a crash. Also I doubt 2 Ice/Kin Corruptors/Defenders having the survivability to rush a full spawn in melee range for FS the way a Scrapper/Defender (his current combo) can.Quote:Blizzard is probably the most damaging T9 in game. Coupled with Ice Storm, Ice should blow away Arch in terms of AOE damage. Easiest way I can think of to compare the two is probably to pull up Mids, then pull up the Powerset Comparison chart. Pick Arch vs. Ice for Corr Primaries. Then click Damage (for burst) and compare the AOE potential of Arch vs. Ice i.e. RoA vs. sum of Ice Storm + Blizzard. Then click DPS and do the same comparison. Ice should easily blow away Arch in terms of AoE damage esp once you factor in capped damage and high recharge from SS+SB.
Umm, if Mids is right Ice Storm and Blizzard on Corrs are using Blaster numbers... no wonder Ice seems to shred things.
Edit: It seems /Ice for Defenders behaves the same way, so you can probably swing 2 Kin/Ice Defs for even more destruction due to higher Kin/ modifiers. -
What you got there is a good combo, except instead of Kin/Elec I'd go Kin/Arch which has better AoE damage (RoA is <3).
If we're talking sustained AoE DPS then Fire/Shield beats Elec/Shield -
I only have 10 toons that matter
Fire/Radiation Controller
Radiation/Sonic Defender
Robotics/Traps Mastermind
Fire/Traps Corruptor
My four main and favorite toons, capable of taking down most AVs and GMs by themselves without using any temp powers or inspirations. Their adventures are well documented on the website linked in my signature
Fire/Mental Blaster
Fire/Psionic Dominator
My 'mid tier' toons, also capable of taking down AVs and GMs, as well as 8-man spawns, usually requiring strategic inspiration usage
Fiery/Shield Scrapper
SS/Electric Brute
Electric/Fiery Tanker
Dark/Ninjitsu Stalker
My foot soldiers, capable of destroying +4/x8 spawns of most enemy groups (with the exception of the Stalker, who is in turn a single target specialist able to take out most AVs with no temps/insps). Arachnos, Longbow and sometimes Carnies give the most trouble to these guys -
People who have invested time and effort into getting better gear will have the advantage over those who haven't, plain and simple.

CJ is turned off in your build, that puts your defense numbers at 46-47%
You can also remove the slot from PF and put it in CJ -
Quote:To be fair, some of the other grindfest MMOs I've played DO require math/logical planning skills as well. Much like in CoH, randomly throwing uber gear at your character without any previous planning won't make them very good.Furthermore, personally, the number 1 reason I've played this game exclusivally for so long is the fact that I can be uniquely exceptional by using off-line skill to min/max. In most other games, being *powerful* means you spent the most time online waiting for the gear you want. If you don't have more time then everyone else to devote to the game, then guess what? By the time you get that gear, you're not really exceptional anymore. This game however, clearly has huge payback for mathmatical/logical planning skills and doesn't require an enorumous timesink to place that offline planning into execution.

Founder's Falls.
Why use DOs at level 35 though? you should upgrade to SOs -
Quote:Having soloed all four of them on a number of toons (all different ATs) I have to say I agree with this list and for those reasons.I agree; I'd say the list from easiest to hardest would be as follows:
1. Black Scorpion
2. Mako
3. Scirocco
4. Ghost Widow
Mako and Scirocco could be close to a tie but I put Sci as harder to beat just because of the AoE EMP Pulse with large damage and the dust devils that put him above Mako. Mako really doesn't have any AoE/cone attacks beyond his shark immobilization power (which is easily avoided).
However, there is one way to make Scirocco nearly harmless, and that is engaging him in aerial combat way up in the air where he can't use his tornadoes. -
Some sort of elemental themed Controller or Defender: Fire/Therm, Ice/Cold, Cold/Ice, Kin/Elec or maybe even FF/Energy tinted bright pink
A Blaster would be too aggressive for a type of light hearted magical girl -
Quote:I thought that was Dr. BrainstormPosi was also at the forefront of Power Proliferation as Raymond Keyes discovered that hereoes and villains were able to do new things.

Quite the contrary, actually. In the comics, by being 'cryptic' about it, they made it a taboo and therefore made it more interesting (that is, it sparked more interest in the readers/players cause we want to know more, and they won't tell us)

You guys also have to realize this bio is written in a form of political propaganda that would make Hitler/Stalin/Musolini/BinLaden/Hussein/Castro/Chavez seem like heroes too.

Quote:Recluse has his own ideals too, he wants to establish the world as a "Survival of the Fittest" type of placeI like that Cole is being given a nicely complex set of motivations, even though I do enjoy Lord Recluse's "I'm Mr Villain, head Villain of Villaintown" routine. Hopefully the Resistance will be similarly portrayed as not 100% good.
Not aimed at you directly, but anyone suggesting Lord Recluse is a one dimensional character, who fights just for the sake of being a villain and not for what he believes is right, just has a very bad memory and is easily distracted by shiny, new things -

I tested pet recharge as soon as i14 went live.
I had my Assault Droid slotted with the pet purple set (which has an 89% recharge bonus included) and before the patch, that 89% rech affected all of the bot's powers, making them all recharge twice as fast.
When i14 hit, I opened my bot's combat window and it still showed his single target blast recharging in 2.12 seconds (from a base recharge of 4 seconds), then I went into the RWZ and tested it against a dummy. I timed it myself, the bot was shooting his blast every 4 seconds (instead of every ~2 seconds), which tells me that a pet's recharge is not affected by any outside sources, nor by it's own slotting -
Other potential members could include:
Zenflower
Serafina
Tarikoss the Vigilant
Professor Echo
Flower Knight
Blue Steel
Ravenstorm
Moonfire
Someone else could write up an essay on how and why they became Phalanx members :P
