    Grav/Time Build

    With the new year I'm redoing a few builds for some of my characters, so here is my build for my Grav/Time Controller. He's still a lowbie (only 25 now) and my biggest issue is definitely endurance.

    In this build, I went for defense, +MaxEnd, recovery, and recharge time. I have perma-Hasten, perma-Farsight. With Power Boost, all my defenses are at at least 52.3% or more.

    I went for Cardiac (the 45% end redux) for Alpha; Vorpal (with the brief 30% defense boost) for Judgement; and Ageless (with the recovery boost) for Destiny. With Cardiac, I am at 0.95endurance/sec and 4.87endurance/sec recovery.

    I'd really appreciate feedback on this build. Did I slot anything oddly? Any better suggestions?

    Also, I suck at calculating costs - does anyone have a guesstimate of how much this build might cost me? I will say that I did plan this build in a bit of stingy manner in terms of costs (even though I did use some purples), so if there are any suggestions for changes to make I'd rather not go significantly more expensive than what I have (that is, I don't want to fully slot out powers with purples).

    Anyways, would appreciate any and all feedback!

  2. Yeah, I built the Dark/Dark Blaster to be largely melee-based, a Blapper basically, with decent defenses to most types and built with a lot of -ToHit (with Intuition Alpha) and the -ToHit Interface, and decent resistances.
  3. I really want to create a Dark/Dark character, but cannot decide on what. I really would appreciate any help or feedback or comparisions or suggestions to help me with this decision.

    I made three tentative builds, one for each.

    As far as my playstyle goes, I do prefer damage dealers usually - but can have a lot of fun playing support. What I suppose is most important to me is that when I team, I am able to see and know that I am contributing to the team in whatever role I am filling, whether its damage or support. I like to be clicking a lot, I don't like to just sit back and watch stuff happen, pressing a button every now and then.

    I have Level 50 Blasters, Scrappers, and Corruptors, and high level Defenders and Controllers, so I'm familiar a bit with each archetype and playing both damage and support.

    Pet peeves are endurance issues and (too) frequent deaths. If I can't make it through a mob without endurance crash or a death, then I'm seriously flawed! I also like to be able to solo, even though I rarely do.

    I like powers with awesome animations.

    The character concept is sand-based, and will be recoloring the dark powers to look like sand.

    I could really use feedback on all of these builds, and a suggestion on which I should go with!

  4. I whipped out another build in Mids, I'd love to get some feedback on it. This one is for a Dark/Dark/Soul Blaster.

    I went for defense and HP cap mainly - and I went for all types of defense. This character is definitely a Blapper with a close-range focus.

    The numbers are 35.1% S/L defense, 26.7% nrg/neg defense, 23.9% fire/cold defense, 26.7% melee, 22% ranged, 23.9% AoE.

    Yes, these numbers are not softcapped. However, I did slot for -ToHit in two powers, and because of Dark's inherent -ToHit capability, I didn't think I needed softcapped defenses to survive. I have resistances at 45.2% for S/L and 24.1% for negative and am at the HP cap, so hopefully that helps me a bit!

    With powers like Dark Consumption and Life Drain with a chance for endurance proc (albeit only a 20% chance), I hopefully won't have an end issue - although the consumption is at 1.45/s with a recovery of 3.54/s. I could go Ageless for Destiny if this is an issue.

    I went for Intuition Radial Paragon for Alpha. This is for the -ToHit boosts that it gives, also the Damage. The Range and Hold boosts can be handy as well!

    I also went Diagmatic for Interface for even more -ToHit!

    I skipped Blackstar and Touch of Fear. I didn't want the end crash with Blackstar since my character is going to be up close and dirty and relying on toggles, so the crash could be the death of me. Touch of Fear I simply decided against. I also did not pick up Hasten, because I didn't view it as necessary for the powersets.

    Anyways, I'd love some feedback!

    edit to add: That's with accolades turned on. If you're not planning on getting the accolades, it makes more sense.
    I had taken it for a self-heal, but I didn't realize that I was so close to the HP cap!

    Knowing that now, I will probably go for non-perma hoarfrost, and just use it as a self-heal. Although I do have Hibernate, so I could swap Hoarfrost for Aim or Shiver or something.
  6. I'd appreciate some feedback on this build! I went for softcapped smashing/lethal defense, and then recharge. I went for Agility as Alpha, and Ageless as Destiny.

    Hoarfrost is near-perma.

  7. Can anyone look over this build for a sonic/sonic defender and tell me what they think of it?

    With Stealth, I have 48.5% S/L defense, 43.8% fire/cold defense, 54.4% energy defense, 38.8% negative defense, 28.1% psionic defense, 25% melee defense, 37.5% ranged defense, 43.8% AoE defense.

    Of course, its a Sonic/*, so there's resistances too at 51.5% for smash/lethal, 37.4% for fire, 29.9% for cold, 27% for energy, 46.4% for toxic, 30.2% for negative, but only 3% for psionic.

    Psionic is clearly my biggest weakness, but hopefully with these numbers I will be pretty survivable?

    I think endurance/second cost might be an issue, so I went with cardiac (since that will also help with resistance). I am thinking I'd go Ageless for Destiny for the +Recovery bonus.

    Any suggestions?

  8. Yeah, I hope that isn't the case. I'd love to see them available year-round or more frequently at the least, even if they were available at a higher price during other times of years or not sold as a bundle.
  9. Is there any chance that the Halloween costume bundle that was released in the Paragon Market this October will ever make its way back into the market? Hopefully before next Halloween?

    I really loved that bundle, but missed the chance to get it by a few days and would love to have that opportunity again. They were such great pieces with so much potential, and so many of them, its a shame to see them be so limited in their availability!
  10. Okay, I have a Level 32 Rad/Rad Corruptor that I started way back when CoV was first launched in 2005. At one point, she was my favorite character. Now? Can't stand her. Can't last a single battle without running out of all my endurance.

    So I decided to make a build that would hopefully fix that. This build is focusing on perma-AM, perma-Hasten, good recovery, good recharge, low end cost, and decent damage. It pretty much has no defenses or resistances, other than Hover + Stealth.

    One thing that you may notice is I slotted a lot of Achilles' Heel: Chance for Res Debuff procs in the AoE radiation blast attacks, and in Radiation Infection. This probably seems like an odd choice, but if I am firing off these attacks a lot, then there is a decent chance the proc will be used, which would help me take these guys out sooner, I think? Radiation Blast isn't the best damage-wise, so I feel this might help.

    For Alpha slot, I am going with Cardiac (the 45% end redux one).
    For Interface, I think I will go Degenerative (the one that decreases Max HP and has some DoT) - again, to help with killing guys faster.

  11. MMM, nice guide. I have an Emp/Arch Defender at 45.

    Archery is so darn awful, though, that its difficult to motivate myself for the next five levels. On teams I feel unneeded often - at that level a lot of teams seem to be surviving fine without my heals or buffs (AB and Fort and CM are still useful, yes, but not as mandatory; the heals are rarely used) and my damage is too low to be noticed (I can't even solo a mob of only minions on default difficulty settings). So whenever I make my build for it I'm going to have to focus on recharge and damage, somehow.
  12. Rerolled my Lv20 Spines/Regen Scrapper as Spines/SR Scrapper.

    Went from Level 1 to Level 45.

    Once I hit 10, I did Positron (enjoyed nice load of xp for finishing the WST), Synapse, Sister, Citadel, Moonfire, Manticore, Katie, Numina, ITF and then missions and another ITF until I hit 45.

    I've been playing a Grav/Kin Controller for about a year - love him way too much to scrap him - and he is about level 40 or so. I will also be making a second version of him.

    Currently his name is Edwin Schmidt, but I'm leaning towards Timetronic as his secondary version - possibly Praetorian version.
  14. I feel the main effects are going to be Recharge, Slow, movement speed, maybe some minor +Recovery/+Regen and some +defense (after all, if you are moving at a faster rate than everyone else, you can probably dodge an attack by seeing the attack coming at a slower rate than you are).

    Not to step on Kinetics toes - I do think that any Regen/Recovery effects that can be seen will be nothing compared to Kinetics'.


    I envision powers like....

    1] A PBAoE toggle power that has a Slow and -Recharge effect to all foes in the area.
    2] A PBAoE click or toggle buff that increase the defense of you and all your allies.
    3] A teleport power that teleports you into the combat (sort of like Lightning Rod or Shield Charge). However, instead of doing damage, all foes around you may be Held and otherwise face a major Slow effect. Sort of like "stopping time."
    4] A clone-pet power that lasts for a little while.
    5] A PBAoE click power that increases movement speed and maybe recharge times (maybe not quite as good recharge reduction as to not to steal from Speed Boost there is a target required - or maybe just a self-buff instead of a team buff?)
    6] An targeted enemy intangible power - sort of like Dimension Shift in Gravity Control?

    Unsure on the rest.

    I am really hoping for a travel-power from it though. I really enjoy Siphon Speed on my Grav/Kinetics controller (who is time-traveler themed), so I would like to have a self +movement speed power. I use Hover + Siphon Speed and can hit the flying speed cap!

I am crashing often but I notice that its in the new warehouse tileset maps and inside the Rikti War Zone base map (whether its a mission using this tileset or the actual RWZ - I very often crash in these), and Pocket D. Its very frustrating as RWZ, Pocket D and the warehouse maps are becoming increasingly common destinations for end-game content.

  21. Same thing happened to me. I just assumed I had outleveled the contact when I hit 16. I was really disappointed though, I was really enjoying the arc and wanted to see it through to the end.

    I was really sad that Sinclair told me he had no more missions. I really wish there could be a way to flashback and repeat old Praetorian arcs for Praetorian characters.

    A lot of characters can't solo through the content so have to team doing other people's missions, then outlevel their own missions, and can't go back. I avoided Praetoria during 2XXP for that very reason. Didn't want to outlevel it before I finished stuff.

  23. So for a while now, I've been wanting to build a super-strong demon-themed character. Basically, a lot of my characters have received powers by deals with a devil, or are possessed by an evil demon. This character is that demon.

    The character, for all story purposes, is practically omnipotent. Its a shapeshifter, it possesses people, it grants abilities, etc.

    The character has "existed" for a while, in all sorts of planning stages and in other character backgrounds, but I want to implement him/her/it (genderless shapeshifter) into the game, but I cannot figure out WHAT to do as far as power sets go.

    Demon Summoning seems like an obvious choice, but I do have one (related to her backstory), and I'd rather have a more directly-offensive character than an indirectly one. I'd like it to be a character that can dish damage, take damage, and feel awesome when playing. Melee ranged might be best, but I also like ranged.

    Here are some ideas I'm thinking about:
    - Fire/Fire Brute
    - Fire/Cold Corruptor
    - Demons/Dark Mastermind
    - Demons/Thermal Mastermind
    - Fire/Kinetics Controller
    - Fire/Cold Controller
    - Fire/Fire Scrapper

    - ANYTHING. Seriously. With power customization, I can alter it to fit the theme, but I'd like something that's awesome and versatile. The only catch is I'd rather not have to "wait to 50" or anything very high in level to finally get the build together, and would rather not require set bonuses to be manageable.


    If anyone can give any suggestions, that'd be amazing. I've been stumped on this for quite a while.
