  1. Yup, I've played it as well and really liked it. They really put a lot of polish into this one, and it really shows. Amazing visuals as well. There's a lot of nods to fans, definitely recommended.

I've also finally finished writing my full review on it today, if anyone cares to check it out. Also placed a few screenshots from my main character's playthrough.

Took me a while to decide whether to review it at all, considering the fact that I was a designer for the first game. But... meh, I'm not connected to the second game anyway nor the DLC's, and haven't worked for BioWare for a few years now, so I just went ahead and did it.

    Best ME2 DLC yet. ^_^
  2. Oh and for those interested, here are the two short films that the movie is based on, made by the same director doing the feature film:

    Rare Exports (2003)(7 mins):

Rare Exports: Official Safety Instructions (2005)(11 mins):

Demented and hilarious! I love the way that the films have a serious take on a non-serious spin.
  3. Here's the link where I embedded the trailer

It's a Finnish horror comedy film that's having its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it features a different view on Santa Claus.
  4. Here's the link where I embedded the trailer.

    Here's a synopsis:
    Quote:
Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.
It's also loosely based on a Korean graphic novel of the same name (very loosely it seems). I might give it a try when it releases in May 2011.

Also one has to remember that being this is a stunt man, he is mostly likely wearing a stunt suit version of the costume. It's padded and more bulky for blocking purposes and to protect the stunt man.

For comparison here's the bulky stunt man suit from the Dark Knight:

Some more details (more specifically, coverage) have emerged for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming mysterious film, Super 8. WTOV9 is reporting that the movie crew is preparing to start filming in Weirton, West Virginia. Various locations are being converted for the film, including a community church that’s been transformed back into a school. And the “Marland Heights Deli will be turned into a convenience store. A downtown church will be converted into a police department, and two area homes will make it into the film”, according to the report.

Click here to see the report which includes a video of the news coverage. We’ve also known for a while that Steven Spielberg is set to produce and the plot involves a 1970′s steel town (see our previous article, which also has the teaser). The article also mentions “It’s a movie about a train wreck in a 1970s steel town — focusing on how the community comes together to heal, according to sources” which is probably just the tip of the iceberg as the original teaser implies.

Another related news is that there’s also a viral website that came out a few months ago, discovered by the Unfiction Forums from fake Craiglists posts. The site is speculated to be run by the grown-up version of the movie’s main character, a fish enthusiast named Josh Minker. The viral site is www.hooklineandminker.com.

Super 8 will begin shooting at West Virgina between September 22nd and the 24th, and will be directed by J.J. Abrams.
Here's the link to the WTOV9 news report, which also has the news video.

Here's the link to the Shadowrush.com article with linked references.

    I'm really curious and excited about this movie. As for the viral site, it's a little confusing to me, but speculation abound in the Unfiction forums. I wonder what it's about. ^_^;
  7. Ha! These are great. Loving it.

X-Men: First Class is currently shooting and the first few pictures from the set have hit the web, and they feature January Jones as Emma Frost. The photos were shot on set at Buckinghamshire, England earlier today and posted on INF Daily. You can checkout the photos at their gallery. Gossip Center also have the photos posted.

    Here’s the synopsis:

    Quote:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
Checkout our previous article for more details. The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Kevin Bacon, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Zoe Kravitz, Bill Bilner. It’s directed by Matthew Vaughn and is set to release June 3rd, 2011.

The movie is set in the 1960's and her outfit does reflect it, but somehow I'm not so sure about how she looks honestly. But these are candid shots, and probably look better on film. And it is just one exterior scene. Still looking forward to this.
  9. Hiya E. I'm thinking of signing up as an alternate. But I gotta ask, can vigilantes join in and get credit for this? Or does one have to be a villain?

    So I saw Machete

Saw Machete during the weekend. I liked it. And I also finally finished writing my review. My full review is up at Shadowrush.com.
  11. Thanks so much for this info. Ransim and Gothess for tweeting these in. Marcian_Tobay for pointing it out, and Orion_Star_EU for summarizing them nicely.

I'm so excited about this, I even posted this on my website here as well. And Massively was also at PAX of course and wrote something here. It seems Massively will also be posting more about it later on.
  12. Here's the link to the Shadowrush.com article, where I embedded the clip and the trailer as well (for those who haven't seen it yet).

    Here's a synopsis:

    Quote:
Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-***) stars as Abby, a secretive 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and, in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbor. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupies the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

Let Me In, a haunting and provocative thriller written and directed by filmmaker Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and produced by legendary British horror brand Hammer Films, is an astonishing coming-of-age story between a young girl and an alienated young boy unlike any other you have seen. Based on the best-selling Swedish novel Lat den Ratte Komma (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist and the highly acclaimed film of the same name, Let Me In takes audiences straight to the troubled heart of adolescent longing and loneliness.
Even though it's a remake of a movie, which was an adaptation of a novel... I'm always interested in seeing new horror/thriller movies (not as much as sci-fi/fantasy films, but close enough). And not to mention, this has Chloe Moretz in it. She was awesome in Kick-***, so I'm curious to see how she does in a movie like this one.

According to Production Weekly, Marvel Studios is now planning to start production on the film adaptation of “Runaways” on March 2011. The movie will be filmed in Los Angeles and is being produced under the fake production title of “Small Faces”, reports SlashFilm.

Based on the award-winning comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan, Runaways tells the story of a group of teenagers who discover that their parents are actually supervillains called The Pride. The teens run away from their homes, band together and begin a journey to discover their parents’ origins and their own inherited powers, while trying to make up for the evil done by their parents.

No cast members have been announced yet, but a casting call has been released last month, so we should be hearing something soon. Drew Pearce, known for the UK superhero TV series No Heroics, is reported to be writing the film adaptation, while Peter Sollet will be directing.
Here's the link to the article.

This sounds interesting. I haven't read the comic book series, but I have heard some good things about it. Will be looking forward to this as well.

Mark Millar, the comic book creator of Kick-*** was a guest at a BBC Five Live radio show yesterday and has revealed that the sequel to the superhero film has been officially greenlit. Here’s a quote from a transcript from BleedingCool:

    Quote:
The estimate is [Kick-***] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, you know, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment. So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to.
The film sequel is currently titled Kick-*** 2: Balls to the Wall and won’t go into production for at least nine months from now, reports MTV, as Matthew Vaughn (the director of the first movie) is working on X-Men: First Class at the moment. Here’s another quote from Millar:

    Quote:
We’re probably about nine months away from production starting, at the earliest, because Matthew [Vaughn]’s got to do ‘X-Men: First Class. Matthew just wants to get ‘X-Men’ done next year then hopefully we’ll just go straight into ‘Kick-*** 2,’ that’s the plan.
The stars of the first film, Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse have expressed interest to return.
Here's the link to my article, which also has links to the BleedingCool and MTV references.

I really liked the first film, and can't wait to see the next one, so I'm pretty excited about this. Although, half of me is raising an eyebrow on the sequel title... while the other half is laughing out loud.

EDIT: Oh and yeah, frikkin forum censor. >_< (Fixed the article link)
  16. He pulled out of making films at around 96 or 97, after a few years when his wife died of liver cancer in 91. He wanted to focus on raising his kids I believe.

As for Bill Murray, we may still see Peter Venkman alive, at least at the start of the film. You can see an article and video of him talking about it back in March with David Letterman, where he mentions being killed during the first reel of the planned GB3. Here's a link to it. At the time he seemed, well... not fully invested into coming onboard.
  17. Here's a quote from Shadowrush.com:
    Quote:

There have been some news on Columbia Pictures’ Ghostbusters 3 this past year or so. A script has been written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky. Ivan Reitman is returning to direct. The four original Ghostbusters will be coming back (Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson). Bill Murray only agreed to come back if he’s in the movie as a ghost. The screenwriters agreed. Also, the new movie will be a passing-the-torch film, where the previous cast will mentor and train a new generation of ghostbusters.

The latest news comes our way from a report from BloodyDisgusting. It seems early word is that it will be revealed up front that Oscar, the baby of Sigourney Weaver’s character Dana Barrett from Ghostbusters 2, is actually Dr. Peter Venkman’s son. In the new film, he’ll be around 21-years old-ish and ready to take on his father’s business as one of the new ghostbusters. The age sounds about right, since Ghostbusters 2 was released in 1989.

The other bit of news from the report is that Rick Moranis will be coming out of retirement for this film. He played Louis Tully, Dana Barrett’s neighbor in the original film and eventually became the Ghostbusters' accountant and tax attorney in the second film. Sigourney Weaver is also expected to return.

There’s no confirmation yet of when the movie will go into production. But there have been talks with Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd earlier this year on when the movie is planned for release. There’s been some confusion on this, according to a report from SlashFilm months ago. On April 2010, Ramis mentions a 2012 release to ABC7, while Aykroyd mentions that filming may begin this fall with a possible 2011 release.
Here's the link to my article, which also has links to the referenced articles.

I'm not too surprised that they're going this route. I guess it didn't occur to me before that they could use Oscar, which does kind of makes sense. But I have heard that it was unofficially mentioned before by GB fans that Oscar was the son of the violinist from GB1, and not Peter Venkman's. But then again, since it was never mentioned in any of the films who Oscar's real father is as canon, this tiny bit of retconning works for me. Looking forward to hear more about Ghostbusters 3.
  18. Ooooh I likey.

Looks like this was a concept trailer shown during Comic-Con. I wonder if any studio has picked it up yet?
  19. I've embedded them here.

Hehe, I'm always up for some CG-animated fun. I'll give this one a try when it comes out.

Two new photos for the upcoming superhero comedy “Super” has been posted on James Gunn’s website, who wrote and directed the film. The image above features Ellen Page as Libby and Rainn Wilson as Frank Darbo, also known as Boltie and Crimson Bolt. Also checkout our previous article for more photos of the movie. Here’s another decription, this time from the Toronto International Film Festival:

    Quote:
When sad sack Frank D’Arbo (Rainn Wilson) sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler) willingly snatched by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), he finds himself unable to cope. But when the finger of God blesses his brain (don’t ask), D’Arbo decides to fight back under the guise of a DIY superhero called Crimson Bolt. In order to get his wife back, he must first fight his way up the criminal ranks, and he begins by taking a monkey wrench to the foreheads of a couple who cut in line at the movies. As Crimson Bolt begins to make the headlines, a young woman from the local comic book store (Ellen Page) joins in on the fun as his sexually charged sidekick, Boltie.
The film stars Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon and Nathan Fillion. It’s written and directed by James Gunn and will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September 10, 2010.

Below is another photo, this time of Rainn Wilson in costume, warning criminals that the Crimson Bolt is on the job.
Here's the link to the article, which also has clickable pics for bigger images.

You know, while I was writing this on my site... the thing that crossed my mind was...What did the TIFF description mean by "sexually charged sidekick", I wonder? >_>
  21. Hehe, I'm looking forward to this too. I don't normally post TV news on my site, but I liked this so much, I went ahead and created an article yesterday for the trailer anyway.

    The same as ChrisMoses I was thinking of posting this yesterday in the forums after I embedded the trailer, but in my case, I just forgot. ^_^;

This will give me something scary to watch on Halloween night.

A film based on the Marvel superhero, Iron Fist, is now moving forward. Marvel Studios has hired screenwriter Rich Wilkes to pen the live-action film, reports Deadline. Iron Fist was one of the second-string heroes in the minds of fans, when Disney paid $4 billion for Marvel’s superhero library and promised to do something with some of the lesser known properties.

Iron Fist is a martial arts superhero with supernatural powers. Danny Rand was the son of a wealthy explorer and trained in the mystical arts at a fabled city in another dimensional realm. He gained the legendary power of the Iron Fist by defeating a dragon and plunging his fists into its heart. Rand gained the power to summon mystical energies turning his fists into indestructible weapons.

The comic book series was created in the 1970′s by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, when martial arts movies were very popular. Marvel tried to make an Iron Fist film with Artisan a decade ago, with actor and martial artist Ray Park (Star Wars, X-Men, G.I. Joe).

Screenwriter Rich Wilkes is credited for writing Vin Diesel’s film about an extreme sports hero, “xXx”. He also wrote The Dirt and Ballad of the Whiskey Robber.

Considering that Ray Park wanted this role a decade ago, I wonder if he's still going to be in this?

Warner Bros. has signed on Doug Liman to direct the sci-fi action film “All You Need is Kill“, reports Variety. The film is being produced by 3 Arts Entertainment, and is based on a 2004 Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Dante Harper wrote the adaptation for the upcoming movie version.

The film will be about a new recruit in a war against an alien force. He dies in battle and ends up in a time loop and wakes up alive and well in the past. The cycle then repeats, but he remembers everything and soon his skill as a soldier grows. He then starts to find a way to change his fate.

Here’s the official description for the novel that the movie will be based on:

    Quote:
There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again… When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the ***** of War. Is the ***** the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?
Liman has been rumored to helm “All You Need is Kill” for several months following the delay of a new adaptation of “The Three Musketeers”, which he signed on to direct. Liman’s credits include Fair Game, The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Jumper. He’s also signed on to direct an indie film called Attica.

According to a previous report from HeatVision (when Liman was not yet confirmed to direct), part of the deal for the film is for it to start filming soon and production could start as early as Spring 2011.
Here's the link to my article.

I like it. It sounds like Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day. I've never heard of the book before, but for those interested, the novel has been translated into english last year and should be readily available.

EDIT: Oh the forums censored out the female soldier's name in the quote. It's the B word, you know, meaning female dog. >_>

I've never read the books, but I enjoyed the movies. Looking forward to seeing this one as well. This cousin of their's, is somewhat annoying isn't he? But it looks like he'll have some character developments through the adventure based on that third clip.
