basically what tufty said. Dark blast in my opinion is nothing special, and I heard that dark blasts will have thier acc debuffs taken away.
Dark miasma on the other hand is one of the best powersets in the game for buffs/debuffs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where on earth did you hear that? Its the first I've heard of it!
Anyway....
Dark blast - the essential picks (at least in my opinion) are dark blast, gloom, tenebrous tentacles, nightfall and blackstar - any others are either superfluous (depending on your secondary, of course) or just not needed.
Dark miasma, on the other hand, only has two powers that can even be considered below average - black hole, and petrifying gaze, neither of which are in your current level range anyway
Shadowfall ideally needs 5 slots (2 end redux, 3 damage resistance), but you can add them in later on, as the extra damage resistance isnt hugely needed till the late 20s.
Anyway, of the three, I'd say shadowfall, then howling twilight - but thats just me -
Ok, I'm not great at the rad/ side, but I can try....
1. You need some accuracy in TG - at least 1, preferably two - I'd suggest 2acc, 3heal, 1 recharge.
2. I'd be tempted to swap out X-Ray beam for tar patch - the earlier you can get that and slot it, the better. It also means that if you drop x-ray entirely, you can fit Aim in
3. Petrifying gaze is possibly the worst ST-hold out there, hands down, nowadays - you could probably do better picking up a leadership power instead, tbh.
Summary - Skip x-ray and pet. gaze - move tar patch to level 2, use the 2 free power slots accordingly.
Please note, this is only my opinion - your mileage may vary -
Hi y'all
I have a rad/rad at level 21 who I plan on speccing for PvP. Anyone out there know enough about these powersets to suggest which powers I'd be mad to miss out, and which powers I can skip? I would assume that the powers to take would be Accelerate Metabolism, RI and EF, LR from the secondary, and NB, Cosmic burst, the nuke and irradiate from the primary. -
Hey Wam - I remember your dominator in the mid 30s - easiest missions I'd ever run with with a large team!

i just picked up drain psyche and i'm not all that impressed and can't see it being practical in i7 basicly because its such a short buff (around 10-15 seconds or so)that it would make using TK impossible.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? I have figures from the US sites (who tend to be on the ball about this sorta thing to the point of mania) that suggests that Drain Psyche's buff lasts 30 seconds, and with 3 recharges its up again in 60....
Plus with I7 allowing you to slot for accuracy in it... -
Morning all
Having decided that my current favourite villain AT is the dominator, I'm having a lookk around for a new combination to play - Wynter is currently shelved till I7, and Scathain (fire/fire) is wandering round Cap every chance he gets. In the meantime, I'm looking at mind/psi, and I just have a few queries....
1. What with I7 adding accuracy enhancements to drain psyche, is a stamina-less build possible/practical now?
2. are any of the AoE control powers useful for PvP? In all honesty I'll be keeping mass confusion anyway for giggles
3. Any general tips?
Cheers!

I can toss ice/ice into the ring based on some experimentation in RV on test today - the test came in 2 parts.
1. A helpful regen scrapper kindly stodd stil and let me wail on him for the 25 seconds it took to build domination from 0 to BOOM! - 25 seconds!
2. A tanker decided to try and gank me while I was sight-seeing - runnin both chilling embrace and artic air, and contantly moving around him, meant the only attacks he could fire at me were hurl boulder - he couldnt get close enough for KN blow, etc, as he was slowed too much (that was fuuuunnnnn) - eventually he gave up and ran off.
So yeah, once I7 hits live, I expect to be doing better in PvP with wynter
Just have to learn how to not get killed -
Well, Stygian Star's currently at 25 and holding (waitin for a few friends to level their Khelds to similar levels - go team calimari!
) but I've played all the way there - partly because of the way I learn (by faceplanting) - ie I prefer to DO something to learn it, which makes me a better team-mate, and partly because the only 100% new stuff with a squid is the kheld-only missions and story arcs, and since they start at level 1, PLing wouldnt do me much goos now would it?
And btw Tech, you actually finished that TF yet? I still want that team at somepoint you know! - assuming that a 25 isn't too low for your rapidly levelling scrapper, that is -
If I can get around, I'll try and bring Wynter in, she's my main for CoV, so getting *some* ability at PvP would be helpful... obviously depends on work commitments though.
-
Whoa, hold the phones.....
When did you get back, Noir?
-
Greetings y'all
Thought I'd arrange a little get together and kick somebody's backside for a few hours, anyone want in?
*Translation*
Sunday 30th April, 3pm, Sharkhead Isle Strikeforce
I'll be in with Wynter (Ice/ice Dominator), and I suspect Romanov (Necro/Dark) Mastermind.
Anyone else? -
The giggle factor - its about the only thing bonfire at level 47 is useful for
-
True, but it has its applications, I think - with the right macros, you could flip almost instantly between Bodyguard mode and "All attack my target" - although ranged-based mobs will probably find this more useful than combat pets.
-
Pppffffff, Elec/Dark for me....
OG - Buildup - Lightning Rod - Lightning clap - Dark Regeneration....
heheheheheheheheheheheheh! -
Well, the "New Power sets" update is on the site - have you SEEN the elec/elec stuff? nice....

Pretty sure I said SG and not VG

Most of us are the same people, in both SG and VG.... -

An MM is no more a liability than any other player, really - to put a spin on it, a buffed MM will just kill a Blaster from range through shields. It takes a lot of effort, and a good sense of bluffing to play an MM well - sending in pets from different directions, moving away and into the fray with randomised movement, working with your team to isolate key targets and more besides, with probably many more things I've yet to learn.
Granted, I can see how people could get highly frustrated by the role, but you can glean a certain amount of satisfaction from stopping Blappers dead in their tracks before they can get their next squishy kill, having Regens crawling away from your Tar Patch in a futile effort to escape from the "easy-target", watching Kheldians TP at the last minute only to be dropped by the last round of Plasma fire, and having all manner of heroes scream "omg get taht mm ffs hes worse than teh Dom" over /b...
[/ QUOTE ]
After having watched this in action several times now, I can quite honestly say that its not only scary, but hideously effective. Its that effective, in fact, that I'm seriously considering rolling a Grav/ dominator, just so I can Wormhole some poor unfortunates into Antithetix's tar patch and watch the robots blast them. Just can't find a concept I like... -
Fulcrum shift + TT + Nightfall = closest you can get to old-style fire tank Burn
-
Yup
Short answer -
Peacebringers - more consistent
Warshades - have periods of less power, then bursts where they destroy everything in sight - although they tend to mature later than PBs - but getting to 38 with a tri-form Warshade and realising that you just got as close as you can come to God-mode is well worth the wait.
Me? I went WS - mainly because I like purple more than white -
Laugh uncontrollably, Hold everything in sight, demolish them shortly after.....
Then jump into the next spawn....
And not realise that Dominations dropped
Then run away
-
Apologies if I miss any out....
Energy assault - Bonesmasher, Total focus
Fire Assault - Incinerate, Blaze (tested by US, /fire has a RANGED toggle drooper!!)
Ice Assault - Ice Sword, Greater Ice sword
Psi Assault - mind Probe(?), Psychic Shockwave (yup, a PBAOE toggle dropper)
Not sure about /thorns, never played it
Hope that helps! -
BuKaauukkkkkk!!!!
/em pecks at ground for seeds
/em realises he's lacking a head
/em runs around in circles
*gets blasted by random blaster #1525
Dammit Syn, I'm gonna end up making a claws stalker called Headless Chicken now! Why did you have to say that?!
-
See, this is the thing - I'll be the first to admit that I'm hardly the best PvP'er around, and no doubt some people will back that up (hey Syn, Bilharzia, other League members, and pretty much anyone in Sirens who's killed Wynter
)
The difference, I suspect, between me and other PvP'ers is that I don't go in wanting to be "T3h U8er L33t PVPER!!!!" - I just go in to have a laugh, and mess about with fellow players of a game I love. Not bein particularly good at PvP doesnt bother me, so I'm not all that concerned about not having the skills that other players do.
Hmmmmm..... now I've rambled on for a while with no discernible point, I return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast -
Hmmmm..... now if I though I'd actually be useful, and maybe get a team with Wynter, I'd join in, although at the moment my interest is mainly the badges (stupid 5+ hours, whose idea was that!). Having said that, my time in WB mainly involves getting a scientist, getting him all the way to his lab, then being AS'd by a stalker, while the hero's kindly let me get my temp power....
-
Hey there, just a couple of points (although I'm not exactly a hard-core PvPer, so take them with a grain of salt
)
1. It's gonna be difficult to stack Holds on people with no Hold SOs in Char
2. There was some testing done over in the U.S that suggested that Blaze (Lv 38 secondary power) was actually one of /Fire's toggle droppers. It's also one of your highest damaging powers in your secondary, if not THE most damaging power in it. Why haven't you taken it?
That's all I can think of right now
