You (de)Buffoon! My Rad/Dark Respec
Ok, I'm not great at the rad/ side, but I can try....
1. You need some accuracy in TG - at least 1, preferably two - I'd suggest 2acc, 3heal, 1 recharge.
2. I'd be tempted to swap out X-Ray beam for tar patch - the earlier you can get that and slot it, the better. It also means that if you drop x-ray entirely, you can fit Aim in
3. Petrifying gaze is possibly the worst ST-hold out there, hands down, nowadays - you could probably do better picking up a leadership power instead, tbh.
Summary - Skip x-ray and pet. gaze - move tar patch to level 2, use the 2 free power slots accordingly.
Please note, this is only my opinion - your mileage may vary
Well, I put this build onto test, and it worked fine, once I stuck some extra end reds in a couple of powers.
I managed 35 levels without tarpatch - and now I quite like it , so that is staying. Agree about petrifying gaze - that is being binned I think (the only change to the test build was swapping proton volley for aim - i miss my torpedo sounds, but it is situational at best.)
TG has always been slotted that way for me - the stacked -def from a very fast neutrino bolt/xray beam combo means it damn near always hits without any acc slots, and the 3 recharges mean it is up in 4 seconds if it does miss. I solo'd 5 missions on relentless on test - only died once, and that was because the freak tank kept stunning me. 1 breakfree purchase later, he was toast. In those 5 missions, TG missed twice.
But I know it is only because I'm rad/dark that I can get away with that
Will have a little further play around, see if I can tweak a little more out of it.

Yup I have, and I stand by my opinion - BFR, as bad as it is, still does a little damage, and has ice's usual secondary effect, whilst petrifying gaze does neither!
Again, this is only my opinion though

With that in mind, is it really necessary to have two accs in all your attacks, then? I know my Rad/Thermal managed fine with one for a long time, and I only boosted her up to two when I started taking her into PvP.
Speaking of PvP, if you will be in there even a bit, I'd suggest at least the one acc in TG. The higher base def in there will likely cause you problems. Since you're not really planning on using this as a dedicated PvP toon, from the sound of it, it might not be worth going with the two it would really need, but one would at least mean you can more often hit than miss when you do go in, and it certainly won't hurt in PvE, either. The third recharge speeds you up by less than half a second, I think, so consider whether having a miss at a vital time might overall be worse than it being half a second slower. It could go either way, but I know I'd rather have the accuracy so I can try to get a heal off something that's hard to hit if I need to. It may also depend on what level enemies you tend to fight.
A good point cybercel - the two accuracy is due to habit on most of my toons I think.
I may try with a 1acc, 3 heal, 2 recharge slotting on test before I take the plunge on live. Thanks for the advice
As for PvP, well, the last time I took him in, I only had TP as a travel power (no hover, no nothing), and to say I got a beating would be well, probably the biggest understatement I can think of.

Yeah, I tend to always put two in now, just in case I want to PvP - it seems like even when I start a PvE toon, I end up in a PvP zone after a while. That and I've become used to being able to hit high level mobs almost all the time. With a rad, though, it has to be worth trying just one, for PvE. If you keep two accs in Irradiate, you could fire it of first, debuff a good part of a spawn of mobs, and then get to firing off your single-target attacks and heal.
Ahoy forumdwellers.
It's about the time that I dusted off the Captain, but he could do with a bit of tweaking. I need to get rid of TP because it is doing my nut in, and generally getting him into shape.
So, here is the proposed build.
I'm not a huge fan of irradiate, but figure it's -def has got to be useful for AV fights/big spawns. I really don't like electron haze or neutron bomb. However, I am a fan of aim, and the leadership pool, so if anyone has any idea of how to get it in, that would be cracking.
This is a respec build at 35, for PvE mainly, although the occasional foray into the zones isn't out of the question.
