  1. My wife has 3 Kins... We duo... Does that count?
  2. CP really only needs some Recharge (it's got a pretty nominal Endurance cost to activate) - my current Incarnate Build is using a Spiritual boost to act as 1 recharge, with 2 L50 Recharge IOs slotted in the power - it comes up more often than I actually find myself needing it.

For Health and Stamina, you don't want to really bother with more than 3 SOs, and 2 IOs push you into Enhancement Diminishing returns territory (or Enhancement Diversification, as you might know it). Some people find that it can be useful to use IO Set 'procs' instead of actual enhancements - for example, I have a Numina's Convalescence +Rec/+Regen proc, a Numina's Convalescence Heal IO (which acts like a 'normal' enhancement), and a Miracle +Rec proc slotted into Health.

If you don't want to get into the specifics on an IOd build, though, just stick with the "No more than 3 of one type of SO" rule.

Oh, and I'm an unrepentant Onionite (one of that weird Roleplayer crowd), just so you know, but I know that Defunct is quite lively.

And, because I forgot to say it before:

    Welcome back!
  3. I agree that the Endurance thing is most likely a perception issue - especially with Holtz, if she dropped the Curse of Extreme Dev Cheating (-50 Max End).

Having Energy as your Blaster's secondary, you might want to consider squeezing Conserve Power into your build, perhaps in one of the places you currently have a Fitness Pool power - My main is an Eng/Eng Blaster (and has often been a bit of an End-hog in sustained combat), but after my last few respecs, I just pop Conserve when I get down to about 25% End, and all my worries are gone. Heck, when I faceplant, I'll often pop a wakie, a break free and a catch breath, Conserve Power, then use only my Tier 1 and 2 Primary attacks for about 20 seconds, at which point I'll be clawing back End faster than I can use it.

Which EU server are you on, Blackfox?
  4. There's a way to get your current build perfectly in Mids: Get Titan Sentinel from the Titan network - it has a build exporter.
  5. Go into your Game install folder and find the CohUpdater.exe file. Rename that file to CohUpdater.eu.exe

Check the properties of your shortcut for the game: The target should be "...City of Heroes\CohUpdater.eu.exe" and the 'Start In' should be "...\City of Heroes"

    Try the Shortcut again.

    EU downloader

You should have 2 folders - one called "City of Heroes" and another called "CoH EU" or something.

Inside the CoH EU folder, create a folder called "City of Heroes".

Paste your previously installed US version of CoH into this folder.

Find the cohupdater.exe executable and rename it "cohupdater.eu.exe"

Right-click on that file you just renamed and Send To... desktop.

On the newly created desktop shortcut, go into properties, and ensure that the target is "...\CoH EU\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe"

Ensure that the "Start in" is "...\CoH EU\City of Heroes"

    Run that shortcut.
  7. I think GG is saying that the dev's collectively presented middle digits by giving us the Alpha unlock arc and the Apex and Tin Mage TF. They gave us fingers.

Not a good joke, but a joke, nonetheless.

    Third Build Woes

I recently (yesterday) opened up the second build on my main. It now has 4 enhancements in it, right now.

Yep. Four. It's going to become (eventually) my exemplaring build.

And I respecced my first build today, after the I19 Stamina changes.

    Yep. Today.

Oh, and I've had a third build since the day I19 went live.

And he's the only toon I want to have 2 builds on.

3rd build is not essential for anyone. Anyone who moans at being forced to slot it... is laughable, IMO. Just play the game however you normally would, slot what you can afford, when you can afford it. It's worked for me for 5 years.
  9. I've noticed this odd little thing on my Rad Defender:

Dead teammate = Fallout + Mutation, but now targetting is lost after Fallout is used, so teammate has to be reselected to rez them.

    Sound like a bug?
  10. Solo +0/x2 rate so far: about a drop every 3-5 missions.

Purple drops at the same settings: once in a blue moon.
  11. You do know that you can get all the incarnate stuff solo, don't you?
  12. Shadowe's translation of the original post:

    Quote:
I don't like doing missions and I can't get on TF's, but I'm a "skilled player" (honest!), and I want my rewards as fast as those who do TF's! QQ
  13. Well, the arc went up (and what a pain in the proverbial that turned out to be!), and Birdy has run through it IC.

    Arc 472174

Birdy's version of things overrides my intentions for the events of the mission (and there are some significant differences!), so I'm in the middle of readjusting my expectations.

Expect more fiction including Timmy, Doctor Infamy and his lovely (if decidedly deranged) assistant (she does have a name, but I'm keeping it quiet for now) in the near future!

Oh, and I consider this experiment to have been a success.
  14. Dirt on War Witch?

    Well, it's not much, but...

A couple of years ago, over here in the EU, we had the Omega Sektor player meet, which was an utterly brilliant fun weekend - The (old) EU community team, War Witch and that guy we now call Noble Savage, 50+ European CoH players and VERY LITTLE SLEEP.

Now, this was when War Witch was "she in charge of zones", and it happened to coincide with a problem that some people might remember - The Supatroll Spawning problem.

(To the uninitiated, this was a problem where Supatrolls in Skyway City failed to despawn properly, so it wasn't even remotely unusual to see over 200 of them in one place.)

So my good buddy FFM collars "She in charge of zones", and drags her over to where I'm on my main, flying around Skyway, and we ask one simple question.

    "Is THIS meant to happen?"

Cue a tight crowd of 80 Supatrolls coming into view.

"Umm... No... That... that's... yeah, that looks like a scripting problem... no, it's NOT meant to do that. Wow. Umm... Wow."

"Anyone for the Dee Jay badge? Get it while you still can."

I think that bug lasted maybe one patch more before it got fixed on the live build.

That's the only time I know of that She Who Must Be Obeyed has had player assistance on fixing something in her bailiwick.
  15. All we need now is Cass, CB and Pious to chime in, agreeing with everyone, and we'll have to ask Avatea to shut down Union for a few days while we all recover from the shock of all of the vocal personalities agreeing with each other.

Failing that, we ask her to organise a city-wide Malta invasion (a la the Carnie ones they did a while back).
  16. I appear to be having some technical difficulties with getting this arc published (and I'm utterly baffled as to why - if I had any arc slots open, I could publish it from my own account, but the person who's the current planned publisher gets an error message and it's not about unlockable or custom content), and the launch of I19 has thrown a further spanner in the works of my original plan (so my publisher and I haven't been able to sort the error messages out because we were both too busy playing the game).

So, time for backup plan A.

(Yes, I really do have backup plans. Three of them. Maybe I'm over-thinking this.)

This will be published before the weekend and I will be informing Birdy of the arc ID, to ensure he gets first refusal. Once it has been run IC by someone, and RP off the back of it has had an opportunity to occur, I will make the arc ID publicly known.

... and I'd better finish off the follow-up mission, too. Damn. I've got a lot to do tonight.

    And the in-laws are visiting...
  17. Haven't had that email of doom, but if that's what it says, and if that's talking about Issue 19 then I would expect the following to have happened:

Zone destruction to match the war.

The Freedom Phalanx NPC's to be removed from their places (though it might be reasonable for the phasing tech from Praetoria to be used if the defeat of the Phalanx is part of the TF's and the email is a blurb like you get on the back of a book, so that they are not there for people who have run the Apex and/or Tin Mage TF's).

Random groups of IDF appearing throughout Paragon.

Random groups of Longbow and Arachnos appearing throughout Praetoria.

So, unless that email is just a "here's the hook for the new TF's" note, I'm sure as heck not treating anything in it as canonical.
  18. If that was your point, I'm afraid you singularly failed to make it.

What you said was that you "hate" (in a non-extreme fashion, despite hatred being a very extreme emotion) having to do content to unlock other content.

I presume you've never led a Katie or Hess TF, either?

Oh, and as a point of utterly valid interest:

You "HATE" something in a game?

    Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe hehehehehehehehehehe.
  19. So. 18 hours to go (well, just under).

And I finish work tomorrow in... oh, look, 18 hours. See you all on the other side!

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that Good people do nothing".

It does give other Union RPers the impression that some excellent RPers, such as Shadowe and Zortel, tacitly condone the rude, aggressive, and entirely unmerited authoritarianism of their fellows telling people what is right and wrong, and how they may or may not react IC to IC events.
Got to bring myself to respond to this bit.

I have very consciously attempted to avoid "whining" or "name-calling" or anything else of that nature in this thread. I doubt I've managed it, but I will not sit by and be told what amounts to "if you think X is being a twonk, you should tell them that they're being a twonk" - because that's what causes arguments like the one that's spawned on this thread.

I have very little against any particular RPers on Union. There are one or two that I would cheerfully never have to cross paths with ever again - there is a VERY good reason I'm not active on the Militia forums, for example, and it's not because the RP doesn't suit me - but the majority are people that I would prefer to give the benefit of the doubt to, and I will take each character as they come.

Take Forse, for instance. The majority of his characters I really enjoy playing with. One of them, Theo, winds me up something chronic and I can barely stand to be involved in RP where he's a character present. Does this mean that I think Forse shouldn't RP Theo? Not on your nellie.

Fea has recently introduced a character to GG that I also don't like all that much. FFM's MAIN is one that I am never going to sing the praises of. One of Zortel's characters makes me want to SCREAM at the screen, sometimes.

These are all people that I RP with on a daily basis, that I have out-of-game contact with, that I am able to communicate with in more ways than just kicking off in-game or on these forums.

I do resent the implication that I, in my apparent silence, am not expressing my disapproval of actions taken and things said.

I go out of my way to try and help people who are new to GG to integrate. We do not want to exclude anyone who is interested in getting involved. I try to give a balanced view of RP at GG, too, so that people know what to expect.

But please, do not tell me that by being apparently silent that I am condoning any form of RP elitism or exclusionism.

The EU RP community tries, on the whole, to accommodate the maximum number of people possible.

However, there are a few vocal "personalities" (and for all I know, I'm one of them) who may appear to dominate things.

    This is not true.

The only things we've sought, in the growth of the Unionverse, are that we do share a history, that any character that becomes involved in any plot can fit into any other plot elsewhere in the 'verse, and that each player has a right to choose for themselves what plots they get involved in and which they don't.

That shared history and 'right of plot refusal' thing are where the problems crop up.

In the main we can sort them through, but sometimes those "personalities" I mentioned can get overly vocal in their opinions. It's a shame, but it's the price we pay for a universe where someone could actually write a coherent timeline, because we've all agreed that's what's happened.
  22. Not everything we encounter in-game flat-out has to be taken IC.

Sorry, but it really, really, REALLY doesn't.

    Want proof?

Create a new first level character, take them to Talos Island and go watch how many CIVILIANS are able to hold off Tsoo. Then try it yourself.
  23. I'm very much open to leaving that to the player who decides to do it. The only requirement (which I have no great problem revealing, since it got mentioned in the last IC story I wrote) is a necessity caused by the fact that the mission takes place on a (*yawn*) warehouse map in a city zone - not overly suited to Founder's Falls or Dark Astoria, for example. Anywhere else is up for grabs, though.

Oh, and I would ask for a little forebearance from anyone who takes part in the Dr Infamy plotline - while I'm trying very hard to play them straight, the NPC's are all cliche'd up to the eyeballs. This is not a serious, angst-driven or drama-ridden plotline - it's here for fun and laughs from the players, no matter how seriously the characters involved might take it.
  24. Hi, all. I'm slowly progressing my Dr Infamy plotline, and I'm sure people have noticed that there are a couple of loose ends currently flapping in the wind.

Well, hopefully I'm going to move one of those ends along a bit!

Or someone will move it along a bit for me.

Here's the deal: I have written and tested an as-yet unpublished, short, MA mission. I am going to publish this mission (well, to be more accurate, I'm going to have it published for me), and I will reveal the arc ID (once it's published) to the first person to tell me they want to run it IC.

A few things to note: I don't care if the person who runs it wants to do it solo, or teamed. This is not a serious arc, nor is it particularly deep in terms of storytelling, and this single mission is explicitly designed to raise more questions than it answers, so I would appreciate it if the person who "gets" the mission is able to make at least a small amount of RP commitment towards the plotline and the direction the mission takes them and the plot. Also, I rather explicitly want to avoid taking Richard along, so if you're interested in doing this mission, it will probably work best outside "normal" RP meet times - but I leave that ultimately up to your discretion.

The mission text includes details of how the mission is introduced, so if IC recruiting is on the cards, I'd suggest that the mission owner checks out the intro text first.

Oh, and if this works, then there'll be more missions like this.

Sorry, Al, gonna have to disagree with you on this one, at least to some extent.

Canon fact: Without The Well, superpowers would not exist on Primal Earth.

The opening of Pandora's Box distributed The Well's influence to a much wider audience, but without it, you get the REAL WORLD. We do not have hyper-intelligent robot engineers with orbital facilities in the real world. If Techbot Alpha could not exist in the real world, but can exist on Primal Earth, then that is the influence of The Well. Core canon, not debatable.
