Magic and Tech Origins have an origin power with Energy damage. As a result, you may want to make sure that your Trick Arrow Character is Magic or Tech Origin unless his other powerset includes Energy or Fire damage.

My Illusion/Trick Arrow Controller had to rely upon his Tech origin power to light the Oil Slick (for levels 35-40) until I hit level 41 and took Fireball from the Fire APP set.
I'll add another nod to the Tech origin and it's origin power: the Taser. This is especially appropriate for a Controller because the Taser does a hold. It is great to use after you've cast your regular single target hold power to stack the holds so you can immediately stop a boss. While it only lasts a few seconds, it is usually long enough for your regular hold power to recharge and then it can take over. Note, you will lose some effectiveness as your Beginner's Luck's accuracy boost wears down, but if you can pop in a Kismet +tohit IO or some accuracy set bonuses or Tactics, it can be useful for your whole career.
  2. I bought a similar looking pedal "exerciser" thing too in an attempt to keep my legs from atrophying since I spend so much time on the computer. But the space under my "desk" is too cramped. I don't have enough height for my knees if I sit at my normal distance. I can use it if I move my chair way back, but my shoulders can only maintain my cantilevered arms for a short while.

Oh, and I think we have the same HP monitor too! I recognize the glint off that useless alleged ambient light sensor on the upper left corner bevel.
  3. Well, it depends on your playstyle. Try tanking with the Traps, it gets interesting. I always try to outrun the Tanks to get to the next spawn group, so they don't mess up the nice cluster.

In the past, players who accidentally created new accounts for their additional serial codes were able to have it fixed by NCSoft Customer Service. So give it a shot: https://support.cityofheroes.com/app/chat/chat_launch

I was looking at that page recently after I gave the link to someone in game and I noticed that a couple of fundamental abbreviations are missing. "AT" is the only one I can recall again. I'm blanking on what else I thought of.

    Missing = EAT, VEAT, SHOE
  7. I've helped a couple of people pay Rent in the past couple of months. You may want to Global Friend a few people who are familiar with you on your server and are willing to help you out on an ongoing basis. Anyway, I make a new character that they invite into their SG. So far these people have Teamed me, I guess to monitor where I am and for ease of chatting, but that isn't really necessary if you're already Global Friends. I skip the tutorial and head to the SG Registrar to pay.

As was suggested above, you need to ensure that the lowest rank can pay Rent. And while you're messing with the permissions, you may want to limit what the lowest rank can do. If necessary, have someone you trust to promote your alts up if they're not already. Still, as a courtesy, I quit the SG after I've paid the Rent so there's no question of sticky fingers with the Base storage bins.
  8. Yeah. I'm still doing respecs on my characters to work in the Inherent Fitness. And it is a lot of work, so I only do it when I happen to hit the right mood. Compromises need to be made to reallocate slots to the new powers that I'm picking up, which is tending towards Tough and Weave on most characters so far. Then I spend several hours going back and forth in my various Bases to see if I have or have enough of the Set pieces I want to use.

  10. Wait. You don't have multiple credit cards? What happened to the good old days where people would open their wallet and let fall a chain of credit cards?

I was going to suggest the Power Analyzer Mk I/II/III temp powers, but looking at those screeshots in the wiki, it doesn't seem to list powers. Or do they and the screenshot is just cut off?

Yup. I do this too. Although, I equate it more to taking off the work clothes (and defaulting to jammies) as I call it a night.

I used the /auctionhouse the first time I tried tanking Recluse in the STF. Although I didn't really need it because the team had a lot of buffers, but it gave me peace of mind.

While you can't use /auctionhouse in-missions now, it is still very useful during the Rikti Mothership Raids. I like to herd the Rikti from the top of the ship into the bowl regardless of what AT I'm playing, so I need a steady source of medium purples and greens, along with break frees. Of course, one needs to pre-purchase them because the Market runs out pretty quickly.
  15. In the beginning I was making a point to try to not repeat Origins too much across my characters. I didn't develop a preference until COV. All the Origin Quartermasters were pretty widely scattered, but the Tech and Science guys were usually together and relatively close to other things I needed, like a Trainer, Contacts, Mission doors, and later, the Black Market. So I was using Tech or Science for a while. Later I realized that the Taser origin starter power was generally more useful, so from that point, I went solely Tech. This decision was pretty much cemented when the Vet attack powers were added because I liked the Nemesis Staff way more than the Black Wand.
  16. I've had this a couple of times at the Character Selection screen, but when I backed out to the log in screen to re-log in, it was ok again.
  17. Were you looking at a Game Card instead of a Time Card?

  18. My map is always open and occupies the upper right corner. With the advent of all these new special mission objectives windows, I allocated the upper left corner to those. When the League window gets huge because of extra large League events like the Mothership Raid, I'll put it up on the upper left corner to get it out of the way. Otherwise, the League window is at the bottom of the screen (as shown) where the Team window usually is.

The Team window's placement depends on the type of character I'm playing. For a non-buffer like this Blaster in the screenshot, the Team window is on the lower-middle left side. This way, my lower center of the screen is clear in case I need to drop a ground targeted AOE (Rains, Caltrops, etc) right next to myself. Now if the character was a buffer, then the Team window would be on the lower-middle right side, ie next to the Powers Tray, so there would be less mouse travel for when I need to go back and forth between team mate selection and power activation quickly.

Extra Powers Tray #4 is set up the same on all characters.
Extra Powers Tray #5 is set up mostly the same on all characters.

For the main Powers Trays #1, 2 and 3, the layout is generally similar in all characters. I don't want to bore you, so I'll just mention that Fly, Sprint and Ninja Run are always in the same spots. and if I have a self heal, it is also always in the same spot. The middle of Tray #3 is always armors.

Except for Mastermind and Illusion characters, whose Pets windows are huge and need to be kept down in the lower center of the screen along side the Team window, all other characters have a small Pets window placed as shown here.

Also, you'll notice that I have Options-->Show Player Health Bars = Always set.

    Edit:
I play on a 24" monitor in windowed mode, so the resolution is slightly less than 1920x1200
By the way, my screenshot looks extra "vivid" because I used the Sharpen function on my image processor. After I scaled the original down in size, it looked a bit fuzzy.
  19. Back in the day, when I was a brand newbie on Infinity, there was always bunch of players doing jumping jacks behind Ms Liberty. I didn't know about emotes, so I didn't know how they were doing it. Or why. I'd watch them for a bit sometimes and then moved on. I never bothered to ask them because I figured I'll learn about such things as I progressed. Of course, later on I figured they were probably AFK, especially because back then, there wasn't the auto-log out for inactivity.
  20. You need to have a Workshop room or room that can take workshop items (most can). Then look in the workshop list while in Place Item mode.

We were on the first mission. We got outside and up to the final part of it... and someone triggered the ambush of Nictus. Here's where it gets weird: There was an EB called 'Romulus Augustus Nictus' in the mob. Yeah...

I should have though to catch a screeny of it, but this was a speed run and by the time I saw him everyone was out and ready to move on.
An ITF team I was on got this bug a week ago. There was a Kheldian player on our team and I suppose the "Romulus Ausgustus Nictus" appearances were supposed to be the Void Hunters for him. They kept popping up with 3-4 per mission. It was pretty hilarious, especially when one surprised us as we were clearing the plaza. "Whoa! Who aggroed Rommy?!" "Oh, it's just the wannabe."

This bug probably came with the most recent patch. I don't recall hearing about it before it.
  22. See, this is why you need to keep positive about winning. Don't jinx yourself!
