  1. If you want to just buy a Jet Pack, which you can do at level 1:

Hero side: from Atlas, go into the Vanguard DPO and take the portal to the Vanguard Base at the RWZ. When you appear, immediately turn around and click the portal to exit to Peregrine Island. Make the mad dash to Portal Corp (try not to get sniped!). Go into the middle building, take the elevators down, then hang a right to the Portal room. Click on the portal there to go to Fire Base Zulu in the Shadow Shard. When you come out at FBZ, hang a left. After you get off the catwalk, you should see a soldier Jet Pack vendor. A Jet Pack cost 10,000 Inf. Note: each of the 4 Shadow Shard zones has a Jet Pack vendor near the portal at that zone.

Villain side: from Mercy Island, take the Ferry to Grandville. Run up to the central plaza where the Trainer Arbitor is. Behind and to the right is the Jet Pack vendor, who looks like another Arbitor. Again, 10K Inf for the Jet Pack.
  2. In addition to Influence/Infamy/Information to buy what you want, there are several new "currencies" in the game that you can use to get the same things (ie IO recipes and salvage): Reward Merits, AE Tickets and Alignment (Hero/Villain) Merits. There's also Vanguard Merits, but their use is a bit more specialized. Depending on what and how you like to play, these alternative currencies may be easier for you to accrue.
  3. Those Guides you've read must be pretty ancient. While Jet Pack temp power recipes are fairly new (a couple of years maybe), we've been able to get temporary Jet Packs as mission rewards or flat out purchasable for several years now.

Personally, I always take the Flight travel pool because I like to fly and the Air Superiority attack is very good. But if you'd rather a different travel power, hey, do it.
  4. It looks like the aura the PI mayhem mission inflicts on you.

    Trapdoor

Other than 2 Defenders who duo'ed the arc with someone asking for help, I soloed it with all my other characters. I did purposely do it as -1 even on my highly capable characters because with so many runs to do, this unlock requirement was going to be a lot of "work". And I'm lazy.

Try it with the Ferret rules.

Additionally, and this is the odd part, the keyboard stays lit, but when I press on the Num Lock or Caps Lock key, the light does not go on or off . . . it just stays at the same status as it was before (it has little red lights to show status).
I have been having pretty much the exact problem as you described for months now. However, my computer was experiencing an assortment of other problems prior to this particular trouble starting so I thought it was just my hardware.

GREATEST SUPERHERO OF ALL TIME CONTEST OPEN FOR ENTRIES

Contestants Invited to Make a Case for Favorite Superhero of All Time as Baen Books Promotes Mercedes Lackey helmed Superhero Saga, Invasion.

WAKE FOREST, NORTH CAROLINA --Baen Books is calling for readers to make a case for their favorite superhero of all time. The science fiction, fantasy and action-adventure publisher is sponsoring the contest as part of a promotion for the March 2011 release of superhero saga Invasion: Book One of the Secret World Chronicle.

Invasion is a collaborative shared-world extravaganza set in a semi-retro alternate America. The book is helmed by SF and fantasy bestseller Mercedes Lackey and features a cast of fascinating mutant heroes who must face a Nazi-like super-menace from beyond time and space.

The March “Greatest Superhero” contest features a prize of a five free e-books which will go to the entrant or entrants who make the most compelling case for their all-time favorite super-dude or dudette, in five hundred words or less.

“Any superhero is fair game, whatever his or her origin or milieu,” says Baen Books Publisher, Toni Weisskopf. “Mutants, aliens, magic—you make the case.”

Weisskopf adds that entrants might consider the rules and special limitation of the hero’s world and the kind of competition the hero must face, was well.

“It could be that the true superheroes come out when a supervillain nemesis is as powerful and interesting in his or her own right as the hero is,” says Weisskopf. “We like our greatest heroes to be up to the toughest tasks, of course!”

Readers should email their entries to: info@baen.com with “Greatest Superhero Contest” in the subject line. Entries are due by March 30, 2011. Winners will be decided and awards announced in early April.

Mercedes Lackey was a COH player in the past. I don't know if she's still around. Maybe Black Pebble/Marketing can work something up for cross promotion.
  9. I view the Snipe sets the same way as Range TO/DO/SOs in the pre-Invention era. Regular Range enhancements seemed to drop way more often than any other enhancements and they had one of the lowest sell back prices at the stores.

I hate to disappoint you all, but I'm not going to declare what it was yet. I'm hoping the customer will turn up here and be able to identify their purchase, so that I can give some of the money back.

We're still waiting for the person who did this typo to come here to reclaim their fumble.

Have you every watched enemy NPCs wander all over a smooth hillside to get to you? And it doesn't even have to be a steep incline.

    Storage in SGs

Do you do lose the Prestige if you sell a crafted Base item, ie something you'd make via a Work Table like a Telepad. I know that you do lose the salvage.
  13. By the way, you should write down what you have stored in your emails. The email server had hiccuped several times in the past and emails got wiped out. If you get wiped, you can get your stuff back by petitioning, but the GMs will want you to tell them what you've lost. I guess as a cross check so they're not just handing out free stuff on your say-so.
  14. *leans forward on my rocker*

Oh, you kids today with your wikis!

    *shakes cane*

Why, when I first took up the cape, I street-swept every zone from corner to corner. On foot, no less because no one told me to take up a travel power. I checked out every alley way and investigated every back lot. I went under the overpasses and over on the roof tops by scaling fire escapes. I cleared the fog from every pixel in my minimaps (even the Shadow Shard zones on 4 characters! I did have Fly by then). I found and memorized where every bit of villainy hung out on my own because I was hardcore!

    *HARKKK - spit!*

    Now, get off my lawn!
  15. You need to set up a personal SG and start up a Base so you can store your stuff in the enhancement and salvage storage bins. You'll need help to get all your alts invited into your SG, but that should give you enough Prestige from recruitment bonuses (first 15 SG members) to buy a bin or two to start out.

I have 6 personal Bases (3 hero, 3 villain) with thousands of crafted Set IO enhancements in storage.
  16. vidiotmaps.com

Click the zone you're interested in, then click the drop down to change to "Viewable" (from "Interactive"). I'll leave it to you to figure out the abbreviations for the enemy groups.

but you can usually (except in the case of mezz and travel) choose one of these 8 to craft instead:
Accuracy, Damage, Heal, Damage Resistance, Defense, Endurance Reduce, Recharge, Endurance Modification
The Common Run IO sells at a pretty good mark up. It's the one I craft and sell to memorize the travel IO recipes. They have always sold well for me and nowadays every character with Inherent Fitness just added to the demand.

The only problem are the level 45 and 50 Common IOs of any type. The recent Incarnate inspired teaming has created a glut of the cheap salvage to create these high level Common IOs. Unless you've already memorized the recipes, you'll be eating significant losses before you can even try to break even on them.
  18. It takes me at least half a week to prepare for using a respec on one character. It's not just a matter of choosing additional powers. I have to decide which powers can sacrifice slots to reallocated to these new powers. Many of my builds were tight already with compromises already taken. And I don't create fantasy builds with Mids. I set up my builds on the fly based on the Set IO pieces I have on hand or could reasonably afford to buy, assuming it's available to be bought at all. This means time checking my 6 Bases, checking my bids on the Market, checking which character has enough Reward Merits to use if I had to settle for that, etc. In addition, each time I use up my resources means the next character will have less to work with.

This is a lot of work to impose on myself when my existing build, which I had been considering to be "the final build" all this time, is still serving me well.
  19. I have 6 personal Bases (3 hero, 3 villain) with 8-10 enhancement storage bins each. And I still need more. I play hero side more, so my hero Base bins are all 90-100% full. The villain side bins are 60-70% full. I started shifting inventory via gleemail, but it's a pain.

When I'm planning a respec, I can spend all day going back and forth between the Bases to find the enhancements I need. Or the rare salvage to craft something I didn't have. Yeah, I could make a spreadsheet, but I'm too lazy.
  20. Did you send in a Petition about the harassment?

You may want to review A Guide to Anti CyberStalking. There are some good tips there.
  21. I like using Darkest Night or Rad Infection to herd Scrappy and his massive entourage up the ramp to that Arachnos base next to the Ferry. It's a bit tricky to maneuver them around so they overrun all the Arachnos patrolling the walls.
  22. When you decide on a server, go down to the server's board and look up the global chat channels they use. Global chat channels are server wide, so they're the best way to keep an ear out for team recruitment. Most servers have several popular ones, join them 2-3 of them.

By the way, you can send stuff to yourself or others via the in-game email now. So you may want to scavenge your old characters to get some starter Inf. There's a Auction/Market system now, so if you want, you can make extra Inf there. Go to the Market board for tips to get started.
  23. In Praetorian colors, no less.
  24. Well, if he's taking a class, I'd doubt his teacher would want him to use a template. He can do that after the class, but in the meantime, he'll need to show that he can do the basic HTML and CSS programming or whatever web development software the class is using..
  25. I just noticed that Schlock Mercenary isn't in this contest.
