  1. I have a level 27 TA/DP defender right now, and I'm debating whether to reroll him as a DP/TA Corruptor (and make him a Hero once GR hits). Never having played redside seriously, I can't evaluate for myself whether it's worth it to switch ATs for the damage boost.

Will I notice a decrease in my debuff effectiveness?

Will I notice a marked increase in damage?

Is there ANY difference in survivability?

Will I acquire endurance problems suddenly which, as a defender, I can kinda ignore?

Thanks for any help and advice you guys can give me.

The only reason I give caution is that sometimes a very un-fun set can turn you off of a cool concept.
I almost went Sonic for his secondary, with awesome blue-and-red alternating "ripples" in the animations... but Kin worked better in terms of looks (plus I just wanted Siphon Speed/Speed Boost). His left hand is blue and his right hand is red (opposite poles of a magnet)... so all of the powers which he uses his left hand for are blue, and all of the powers he uses his right hand for (just Speed Boost, lol) are red.

If he uses both hands, it's red and blue, which looks really cool, because for both Grav and Kin, the two colors are separate rather than blended.

I seriously spent about 20 minutes in the character creator on this one. :P

The news about Gravity getting buffed just encourages me to play him more, lol.

I'd also like to see Dimension Shift replaced with an AoE Lift power but I digress...
AoE Lift would be the coolest power since [Sliced Bread].

If you can wait for that, then your first experience with Gravity might not sour you to the set like it did for me.
I need Gravity and I need Kin for my concept (magnetic control). I don't care if it's low-performing, it's too much fun to shoot a car at someone's head, lol.

Or to slot Lift with three KB enhancements and send them into the ceiling.
  5. Don't worry about your character being weak... Elec/Shield is a devastating combo. Only thing I find myself wanting is a small self heal.

On my Elec/Shield (who has Stamina, but not Tough/Weave), I leveled from 26 to 32 by soloing missions set to +0/x8... and I have only SOs. When I picked up Lightning Rod at 32, I bumped up the difficulty to +2/x8 and was killing them FASTER than at +0.

Until you get SOs (and make sure you slot your defensive toggles with them), be careful of using Against All Odds in teams... it's a Taunt Aura, and most people don't realize that. It WILL get the whole mob on you if you run in alongside the tank.

Once you get to lvl 33 and beyond though, you can go "Move over, Tanker, this is MY spawn!" and kill the whole room by yourself.
  6. Hi everyone,

I'm very new to the controller AT, but I've recently fallen head-over-heels in love with my newest character, who happens to be a Grav/Kin controller. So, I've decided to get to know how to play a new AT.

Are there any basic tips you can give me to help me out? I'm level 9 at the moment.

  8. I've head that certain Standard Enemies (namely Freakshow and Paragon Protectors) are worth more XP/Inf than other Standard Enemies at the same level/con.

    Is this true?

If so, which groups are worth the most? Are there any which are just worth less than the default?
  9. When a hero becomes a villain or vice versa, how does that affect their epic/patron pools?

Will my villain scrapper be able to pick up Mu Mastery? Will my hero brute be able to get Physical Perfection?

I suppose that's more along the line of what I said earlier, though. Some sets are friendlier for less experienced players. It's not like you go AFK during a fight normally. It's just a way of saying that your survival will not be compromised by less experienced play.
It terrifies me that this is possible... do you need to be IO'd with solid purples to get this absurd level of invincibility, or can you get it with SOs or a non-purple IO build?
  11. I'm a hardcore blueside player... I've dipped my toe into the Villain pool a bit, but I still spend almost all my time and attention on the hero ATs, so I don't really understand the villain ATs very well yet.

I've been hearing a lot of talk lately about how "Going Rogue will put and end to Scrappers" and "Scrappers are just weak Brutes."

Is there any truth to this talk, or are Scrappers going to continue to dominate blueside after Going Rogue hits? What are the differences between the ATs, and can Scrappers really out-DPS Brutes?

Try looking from outside the wall, not from underneath it (so your camera would be floating in the empty space between rooms).

If that doesn't work, try deleting the room.

  14. The correct answer is Dark Melee.

No set meshes with Shield Defense more. It's like everything in both sets was entirely designed to work perfectly together.

SD is a Defense Set. Dark Melee has a -Acc debuff to enemies.

SD is slightly lacking in heals. Dark Melee has a nice, low recharge heal.

Dark Melee is somewhat lacking in AoE. Shield Defense has one of the coolest AoEs in the game.

Dark Melee and Shield Defense both have a stacking damage buff for each enemy in melee range. Combined, they give a tremendous boost to damage when fighting large groups.

    They're perfect for each other.

Hmm... So if an NPC is friendly, they can't be switched to hostile within the same mission?
  18. Is it possible to populate a map with friendly NPCs (who just stand around and don't fight), but after a glowie is clicked, a certain one of them becomes hostile?

I had an idea for a mission where the heroes look for clues, and when the right one is found, the villain is revealed for them to fight. Ideally, they'd have seen him before, but as a friendly NPC, not realizing that he's actually the bad guy.
  19. Never having played a MM before... Group Fly does allow your pets to fly?
  20. Is there still room in this? If I can think up an interesting concept, I might join.
  21. I will definitely be playing both sides on various characters. :P
  22. I'm gonna withdraw from this, as it seems I'm the one whose schedule conflicts with the others the most. Hopefully you can find an 8th.

    Anyone want to chime in?
I can't do it if it's Wednesday Night / Thursday Morning... So Tuesday Night / Wednesday Morning works best for me.
  24. Wait, is that Wednesday night (Thursday morning), or Tuesday night (Wednesday morning)?
