It does have the advantage that if you are end drained a click power will still be active but a toggle will drop. That is it though, not much of an advantage since there are realativrely few end drain mobs about.
Still it is an advantage. -
your idea is better. can I change mine? I thought it was PPS all the time I was just testing!
Honest!
-
Definitely not a buff. Since it goes away when yopu zone my guess would be that yoy are activating a toggle by accident.
Sounds a lot like super speed to me. Is it bright yellow and makes you run fast?
Sorry if it is a silly question but the description fits.
What lvl/power sets are you? If you are a /fire blaster then it could be hot feet I suppose.
Also this should really be posted in player questions or (possibly) new players. -
I just wish I knew for certain whether there is actually something to find!
Logic seems to indicate that there must be but it would be nice to know.
I have a nagging feeling that the Devs are laughing at us. Either because there is nothing to find or because there is and it is so stupidly obvious and we are not seeing it.
Oh well the search continues. When we manage to get ~30 heoes together for an evening we may have more luck. -
Yup, Major Richard Flagg is in the Crash site and is the 3rd Respec contact.
Hence the trial zone.
Didn't know the Hive was atrial xone though, curiouser and curiouser.
And the greatness that is British Summer Time means it is only 1:30 am here. Britain FTW! -

There are 9 "cavelike" formations in the anthill spires. These are in my current opinion nonimportant - they can't be affected and they disappear if you move a bit further from the anthill while having world details on a low setting. I think it is unlikely this would happen if they were set to play a major part in the "Hami Trial".
[/ QUOTE ]
I would agree with this if there were 1 or 2 'caves' on the map but 9!?
I think the fact that there are 9 of them relatively evenly spaced and almost the same distance from Hami points toward design rather than chance. Thus they have a purpose in the zone. Whether that purpose is to do with Hami is another matter of course. (But sonce the whole zone is geared toward the Hami encounter I don't thik it is too much of a logical leap).
I believe that certain conditions, either within the zone or within the teams in the zone, must be met before they become active.
I know that kind of thing has not been seen in the game anywhere else but I am fast beginning to realise that The Hive is a unique zone in almost every way. -
Ok, lets look at this logically:
First lets assume that a way to weaken Hami to the point at which he is defeatable with ~30 Heros exists and is self contained within the Hive.
What do we know?
1) There GM walls in place such that Hamidon can only be approached from the north and require a runner to travel 3/4 way round the map to get there.
2) There are 9, seemingly non-interactive, cave entrances dotted relatively evenly around the hills around Hami.
3) There are three, interactive, doors in the abandoned portal Corp Base to the far north west.
4) There are four forests dotted around the map.
OK now some suppositions.
1) The GM walls, IMO are not defeatable by 30 heroes (or four teams of 8 to make 32 heros).
2) The route defined by the swarms and GM walls, lead a through all the significant points in th hive before ending at Hami himself. This includes all the cave doors, forests and the abandoned base, possible indicating an order that things need to be done in.
3) I do not believe the entances in the abandoned base are merely for show.
4) I am not certain the forsts are significant and there are no suspicious entrances or anomolies within them.
All this is leading me nowhereanyone else want to have a crack?
EDIT: just noticed some obvious but possibly significant things about the zone itself:
1) The map resets whenever I leave/die/log (this could be a bug).
2) It has no 'areas' within it it is all just 'the hive'.
Not sure if these have any real meaning but thay do serve to make the map unique. Maybe it is unique in other ways as well. -
Just for clarification, the Patron summons for brutes are:
Ghost Widow: Blood Widow (Minion/Lt)
Black Scorpion: Arachnobot Blaster (Lt)
Sirrocco: Mu Striker (Minion)
Capt Mako: Coralax Guardian Sentinel (?)
So there is a mix of Minon and Lt pets in the mix. -
OK read the whole thing now
and done some more snooping in the hive.
Found the cave doors, no blue zombie hand when hovered over.
Found two entrances in the Portal Corp base which do have the blue hand icon but say "you cannot enter" when clicked.
Some theroies:
1) The cave doors are ALL on high ground, maybe something can be triggered to open them and something come out to damage/nerf/change Hami.
2) Clickable entrances in the PC base. Must be there for something surely
3) I am guessing here but the swarms and the GM walls seem to indicate a definite route through the hive. Could 3 teams of 8 take out 20-25 DE GMs? I don't think so I don't think that defeating the walls will be the solution as that is the brutre force approach again.
Will continue my investigations.
EDIT: Said there were three clickable entrances in abandoned base when there are in fact only 2. -
OK you caught me, I only skim read the post as it started over 3 months ago. Will be mroe careful in the future.
Apologies for repeating points that have been made. -
Curiouser and curiouser. I don't know if anyone has seen this before. Someone must have. But while havinf a butchers at the Hive this evening I came accross this mob (see linky)
Now a litte further investigation showed 4 or five similar spawns of DE all walling off an entrance to the center of the hive (at ground lvl at least) and at the approximate four corners of the depression inside which Hami resides.
Two thing strike me about this:
1) the distictive formation, almost like they are guarding the jelly.
2) the only spawns I can see in the whole of th Hive that have non-monster DE in them.
Could these mobs be linked to a way to limit Hamis power so fewer peeps can take him?
Your thoughts. -
In the early game, you will have massive end problems with stone attacks so adding rch enhs is not really necessary. Endo reducers will be more beneficial to you intil post 20 and stamina. Any extra rch you need can be got from Hasten for boss fights and the like.
The Acc enhs are fine but +Dam enhs on a brute are a waste of a slot IMO. Fury will cover all of your damage reequirements and the slot can certainly be put to better use elewhere (in armours for example). -
29 Hours and counting!!!
The Jelly is goin DOWN! -
Erm.. you know we are raiding Hamidon at 7pm on monday right?
You may have some trouble finding peeps to do this with. -
Yes, the crazy fire tank dinged and donged a short while ago.
Nice one dude. -
ty ty peeps. Was a most fun time to be had. Already having fun with squiddies
. Thanks to all who have helped me on the way! Especially big shot to the NBR and LLOD, best SGs in paragon!
See you all at Hami next week! -
I would love to get in on this. Voltan has done none of the SS TFs so would be really cool to have a crack. Lvl 49 Fire/FF troller signing up (if you have a space that is).
-
also don't forget that insulation shield gives resistance to end drain. For all you Malta Sapper needs
-
I would advertise the New Blood Rebellion but lots of the regulars are over in Villains at the mo. Last Line of Defence (who we share a coalition with) are pretty active and a great bunch of peeps.
Having said that, you are absolutely welcome to join NBR, we are in a coalition with most of the 1AT SGs and the aformentioned LLOD and new players are always welcome.
If you are interested send Voltan, Dagar, D-Zol a tell and we can sort you out. -
I think there are two issues here:
In the 30s, an Empathy defenders focus changes, it goes from being a primarily healing set to a primarily buffing one and far too many prople see empaths as 'healers' rather than defenders. In the 30s, Tanks are pretty Uber as there is not so many exotix damage types and alot of prople think I don't need a healer so don't get an empath.
I love having Empaths on a team, the buffage is superb and the added healing if thing do go pearshaped is great.
The other issue is that many empathy defenders semm to give up in the 30s for the above reasons. As such there are actually relatively few high lvl empathy defenders. Hang around Peregrine isle and you will soon be picked up by someone doing AVs.
In the 40s, the usefullness for good defenders goes through the roof and a good empath is worth every bit as much as the other defender types.
DO not dispair, you are needed! -
Voltan, Fire controlle signing up (with Vanguard as well
)
We will show the Jelly who is boss! (1st timer/Hami virgin too) -
Nonsense, he isn't really a person! He is just a bit mass of potential prestige!
Where would we be in this world if we started treating players like actual people. *shakes head* -

I signed this guy up today!
The Bloodline FTW -
Yes, was awesome going. And the XP! wow. 50K bonus for finishing the trial +16k for the titan + all the mob XP, nice. Went up two whole bars (and at 41 that is no mean feat for 1.5 hours).
But the xp is not the point. The team was great and the trial as AMAZING! SPectacular to look at and really fun to do.
The last fight was so close I yelled at the screen when the titan went down and my flat mates came to ask what was up.
Brilliant, just brilliant

Sorry to be pedantic but I am pretty sure the correct plural of genius is genii. It is a latin root.
Sorry, my pedantic side coming out again..I must work on that
