Last update on the winners-list was done in october...and i've seen many good submissions since then that could win the monthly contest.

So why hasn't been there a winner in the past 4 months?

Bridgers been busy with C.o.V and other stuff I would guess.

We've been mentioning this in the thread with the winners listed in it. Most of us agree that the staff who deal with the contest (it isn't just Bridger) are too busy to devote time to it, and we'd rather see the contest removed rather than promising something that can't be provided, which looks bad, and taking time away from working on areas of the game that need to be seen to.

EDIT: Although, looking at the threads...it seems all the posts talking about that have been deleted.

I agree completely... Though, if B & R want to keep the competition open, then maybe leave the judging to the readers in the form of a poll? Saves the mods having to read all the stories and stuff that get posted, they just list them for voting every month or so...

There's a reason Word has a spelling checker :P

Plus, I'm Dutch too...'S not an excuse for faulty spelling :P

Seconded. I am also Dutch, and agree it is not an excuse.

I know it's not an excuse
thus has the titel been changed.

I'm also Dutch, and might I comment that I've heard a lot of comments that us Dutch (in general) use better English than most English people?
(keep in mind that people say this to me, mostly ingame)

I've got a theory on that: we learn to use the language and therefor pay extra attention when using it; we're inherently worried about misusing a foreign language. English people don't have that worry; it's the same, I think, with non-Dutchies learning to speak Dutch.

Posted

Plus we English people don't have teachers enforcing the proper use of english on us at a young age as they used to.

And the dutch are allowed to smoke... well that's not fair either...

Sorry to be pedantic but I am pretty sure the correct plural of genius is genii. It is a latin root.

Sorry, my pedantic side coming out again..I must work on that

According to Merriam-Webster, the plural form genii is preferred for the meanings related to the meaning "spirit, djinni", while the plural form geniuses is preferred for the meanings related to "smart person."

Of course, that is an American dictionary, and what do they know about proper English anyway?

However, anyone who watches QI will be able to tell you that, whilst Octopus is also from a Latin root, the plural form is Octopusses. And be as pedantic as you want. Stephen Fry has spoken.

Hmmm... I've been working for days on a piece of artwork based on CoH, and now that i see that noone has won since October i'm wondering whether its worth the bother.. its eating into my gaming time something rotten !!! Any word from the Devs would be welcome.. is it worth finishing it or wont there be any new winners announced ????

Anything creative is worth completing for its own sake, regardless of any contest.

I still think they should just call off any further contests.

I'd definately say it's still worth it. You've spent a lot of time creating it, and if the Creative Genius contest has finished, it's not like you won't get anything out of it. You'll have the satisfaction that it's done, and we'll be able to look at it. From a personal perspective, I've done four songs - one was to win the Creative Genius contest, but the others were because I like singing, and CoH gives me a vast number of ideas to write from.

Finish your artwork, but not for the competition. Do it for yourself, and so we can heap praise onto you.
