And Mr Jet - feel free to come say hi whenever you like - I'll be the wierd southerner talking in odd voices in a vainglorious effort to convince the world I'm NOT a failed actor after all, but actually a funny, witty guy! -

it's ok I know of Green Jet and can tell you that he's no n00b
[/ QUOTE ]
That was never in question, HaloI wasn't making a "judgement" on it either way. If anyone said "I've been playing this game for 30 years and have a 146 level 50s" I'd almost believe them... so "I'm not a newb" is good enough for me
I was merely trying to "explain" (if you will) the potentially insulting habit I myself have of not "recognising" people who either I should recognise, or who feel themselves that they should be recognised.
This Mr Green Jet, however, displays masterful use of the forums and getting his point across in a readable way (including compensation for mis-reading emotive intent) and so I'd decided he was "cool" by the end of his first post
But regardless, I'm still not 100% behind the whole "teaming outside my coalition" thing. I find the concept unsettling. DON'T ask me why - it may very well be that I'm insane. Or phobic. I can tell you that I'm an unsociable swine in "real life" who doesn't like to go out, let alone make new friends. I guess everything is always "via introduction" with me - I've never made a friend on here accidentally, as it were.
I guess I'm just a freak. Ignore me at your leisure. -
The primary reason I dislike PvP is... well, I'm rubbish at it. Can't seem to manage even a single kill in a match full of squishies. Don't know why, I just can't.
My other, and not insignificant problem with PvP is that you're relying on the person you're fighting NOT being an idiot, a loudmouth, or a general-terms scumbag.
A few of my in-game friends are heavily into PvP and at one point I even took their advice and respecced into a "PvP Build." I sucked then too.
I AM being pro-active about it, however. I enjoy Co* immensely for just the PvE and community aspects, but in the intrests of open mindedness I am trying to improve my PvP skills, and the pleasure I get from utilising them. I shall do this with friends, however, whom I trust - a) trust them not to "go easy on me" 'cause I'm a n00b and b) trust not to mock when I stuff up.
Hey, I'm a sensitive guy, neh?
I certainly would not considder at this point in time going up in PvP against someone I didn't know. The liklihood is that I'd be so easy to defeat it wouldn't be fun for the other party, and certainly from what I've heard and seen, there are far too many kids running around shouting their playground taunts and gloating. Whilst (as the tonsorially concerned bloke a page or so up said) I can ignore these things, they annoy me on a fundamental level, as I abhor arrogance, one-upmanship and cliquiness.
RL sparring, however, I'm up for quite often, and I find it far more enjoyable (and good exercise) than doing it on a computer - why get the adrenaline up if there's no "real" reason for the Fight or Flight stuff? -
*confesses*
Neither have I, Mr Green Jet. But then I'm very insular and tend to team within my own circle of friends and my coalition chums. The same is true of Terra, having been introduced to the game by a friend and going straight into a tight-knit community.
Whilst I know that there are some truly elite players "out there" in the world of CoH, if someone were to list their names to me I'd not be able to tell them from 1st week newcomers either.
Sorry if that offends anyone, I'm just shy and retiring like that -
Comedy moment!
The great and proud Scapegoat, master of all Spelling and Grammar correction for Rangers the world over, has made an unforced error!
Muahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry Scapes, it was too funny not to comment) -
Aw, my original CoH mentor - though in a different form.
Grats mate - although you were already squidding by the time I even joined the game, so I'm sure it's not so exciting for you by now
You're still one of the kindest and most helpful people I've met online.
/em three cheers for Spark -

PowerSWAT signing up for my bi-weekly chance to attend MBar's onslaught - level 45 blaster with Fly and recall friend, and I care not one iota whether we leave them all standing or floor the lot of them - Time vs. Inf/Prestige? No contest.

It would seem that my signing up was premature, as I have now been informed by Mrs SWAT that I have to take her and her little brother to Thorpe Park (theme park to non-southernbrits) on sunday.
ANOTHER MBar sesh missed.
I am distraught, upset, and a little irked...
No SWATtage for you I'm afraid -

Should ring Mrs STORM and talk her through logging you on and getting you to steel... then we can invite you, and you'll be in for when you return
(just a thought - Mrs SWAT certainly couldn't handle activities of that complexity) -
Feel free, feel free!
We should have a nice well rounded teamup. Captain Morgan's ready to adopt whichever of his characters complements the team lineup best, and I think beyond that we have a good cross-section of AT's (although my little level 12 tank isn't as hard yet as she will be).
Remember - tonight, 1930hrsGMT, Positron, Blyde Square, Steel Canyon. Be there or be [ ] -
FYI the afternoon run today failed to occur - by the time I escaped the clutches of my other half, Roentgen Storm was lost to the clutches of his (or somthing equally intrusive from that place they call "real life")
Looking forward to Friday! -
Count me in - no PowerSWAT this time, probably the lil' troller at 27 or, if I can get him a couple of levels this week, the scrapper (who's currently 21).
-
Aye, congratulations! Thanks also to Super Golem, who tanked us through the first six missions but had to leave!
We managed to keep alive relatively well after you'd gone, since it gets easier from that point!
Now, for today's run:
DOOM GLOOM AND DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mrs Drain Brain has made (what I feel) are some unreasonable demands on my holiday time, despite my pointing out that I'd made prior arrangements.
I have to go pick a "light fitting" for our new bedroom. Woo flippin' hoo. The woman has no respect for etiquette - she should respect that I've made plans be they in game or RL.
Regardless, we're going to the local Damage It Yourself store at 10.30, so I don't anticipate being in game until at least 11.30.
Since we finished late last night, I hope that won't be a problem to some (heh) but equally if there ARE loads of people all there at 10 (which I somehow doubt) feel free to start without me.
Sorry.
-
Don't worry Raz - all you have to do is have 3 compatriots who are helping you to start it stay IN the task force while they play other toons, then you call them up and have them do the glowie click when you're ready.
Should be easy with all the unplayed 50s rattling around -
Pyro, Run Number 3 should be doable!
I was thinking about 7.30pm GMT Friday night.
All those in favour, feel free.
Current scheduling looks like this:
Tuesday Evening, 2200hrsGMT
--This is the run for those who either a) don't mind playing into the early hours or b) are free to finish it tomorrow morning.
Wednesday Daytime
--This is basically, any time after the first one's finished (but not before 1000hrsGMT if we complete the first one tonight). Originally intended to supply people's Alts with the badge and/or XP, other players are welcome if they're around
Friday Evening, 1930hrsGMT
--All you "pesky kidz" as the Scooby villains would say, or anyone that doesn't have weekdays free, this is the run for you! If we get enough interest then 2 teams can run on this bash, but I don't anticipate that. Either play til we're done, or finish saturday - either is doable by team consensus.
Put yer names down here for Friday if you want - will help to see how many are coming -
Raz, I have never done them and so have no advice to offer.
I had to post just to point out, however, that you are a TOTALLY MENTAL DUDE.
Insane.
Cookah.
Wibbly in the head.
Gooooood luck!!!!!!!!!!(hope you pull it off)

I haven't run this TF myself, but my housemate did, and it took them a good 10 hours. That's not ghosting any missions, slogging through the whole thing. And with a few team wipes on the first mission which is rock hard. FYI.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm... can you say "bitten off more than we can chew?"
Nah... we'll be fine if we ghost as much as possible...
If we can... -
Aye, it's long. Last time I did it we stretched it out over two nights, so I can't give you an accurate estimate, but I believe it to be well in excess of 4 hours, probably closer to 5 or 6.
Maybe someone who's done it as a full slog can give us a better indication? I would say that a Stealth/TP capable toon would make things shorter if there's one who wants to take part, otherwise we'll have to fight our way through.
It consists entirely of Vahzilok, Council and Clockwork missions, interspersed with whatever attacks you on your way between each door, so /Regen scrappers are well of, and anyone who happens to have a Clear Mind style power might come in very handy too -
[ QUOTE ]
my level 11 katana/regen would LOVE to do this one day. As long as it starts early, count me it. Theusday or Wednesday at 2PM GMT start time would be perfect for me. Other then that, friday and saturday.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmmm... might have to do a third run at it -
Current demand seems to put us at Tuesday night, 10pm.
I've got to do it on two toons though, as I said, and since we didn't get the response I expected for tonight, we can easily do Tuesday & Wednesday instead if people want. -
Hey all...
I've got two toons at level 10 and fancy "Positroning" them up a bit as I'm off this week.
That being the case I'm planning on running it twice.
First (and I know it's short notice, but I'll tell you anyway) will be tonight (Sunday) at 8pm GMT
Second one's open to debate, but I'm planning on EITHER a late run Tuesday - some time after 10pm as a start time, or Wednesday morning, somewhere about the 10am mark.
If you'd care to join me, or comment on preferred timings, post here -
I'm still here (as you know) with 2 of my villains in the group, but even though I just upgraded my graphics, CoV STILL runs like a dog... so I don't play it much.
Maybe oneday soon I'll bug one of you to PL Reviresco to travel power level so I can actually enjoy the game... -
A simple *** would suffice you know - oft used in books and mostly unobtrusive, whilst adequately conveying to the reader the separation of the two parts...
