Quote:By all means, use it! The consensus of the thread is "use it intelligently".Quote:The proper way to "compensate" is to not use your powers poorly.
KB powers just happen to make it easier for poor usage to annoy the rest of the team. -
Something interesting that happened to me the other day: i had a chat box open in the Facebook tab and the forums were logging me out every time i clicked on a different forum section. i closed the chat and the forums did not lose my info for about four days.
Now it happened twice in about three hours. Honestly, other than the one time i left a chat active in the Facebook tab, i've never noticed a clear pattern in having to log back in other than it happens once or twice a month on my Android phone and somewhere between once a day and once every four(ish) days on my PC. Although sometimes it'll happen twice in an hour and then be fine for another day or more.
Actually, it's the lack of any obvious pattern or trigger that makes it so annoying. Most consistently i have to log in at least once a day, but the interval seems to be very random otherwise. -

Quote:i've been celebrating my 42nd birthday every year since 1997.Ha! You're really old now! I'm only turning 30 today...for the 19th time.
For the longest time people would insist i was around 19.
Now they tend to assume i'm in my 20s.
"Uh, no."
(Well, not the people who hung out in the same bars back in 1997, but they accuse me of even less likely attributes.) -

Quote:As i recall the word "barbarian" was originally derived from onomatopoeia of the Greeks making fun of European languages as sounding like "bar bar bar bar...."/this
Most of the claims are not for a "realistic" barbarian but for something less (as several people, including myself, have put it) "Santa's Little Helper," especially compared to the male pieces.
However, I do have to take issue with this:
as you're bringing up "realistic." The biggest problem is "Barbarian" depends on who you're talking to. To the Chinese, the Europeans - you know, people who did have tailors and weren't running around in animal skins - were barbarians. To the Romans, the Celts, Goths, Visigoths, Britons (until they were brought within the border,) picts, etc. were all barbarians.
The word itself comes, eventually, from the Greek and basically means "not us" or "not greek." Know who they used it to describe? The Persians.
(They also used it for the Egyptians. And at times for other Greeks.)
According to Wikipedia:Quote:The primary function of the word "barbarian", and its cognates, is to differentiate members of one's own society from people perceived as being outside of it, and to posit that one's own culture is superior. The word barbaros in Ancient Greek was an antonym for civis and polis. The sound of barbaros onomatopoetically evokes the image of babbling (a person speaking a non-Greek language).[4]
The Greeks used the term as they encountered scores of different foreign cultures, including the Egyptians, Persians, Medes, Celts, Germans, Phoenicians, Etruscans and Carthaginians. In fact, it became a common term to refer to all foreigners. However in various occasions, the term was also used by Greeks, especially the Athenians, to deride other Greek tribes and states (such as Epirotes, Eleans, Macedonians and Aeolic-speakers) in a pejorative and politically motivated manner.[5] Of course, the term also carried a cultural dimension to its dual meaning.[6][7] The verb βαρβαρίζειν (barbarízein) in ancient Greek meant imitating the linguistic sounds non-Greeks made or making grammatical errors in Greek.
Still, the most common modern usage generally refers to Iron Age European themed tribal groups. -
i once teamed with a Tanker in the mid-thirties who had it and used it in the middle of every single spawn. It was... an interesting approach.
Still, he was less annoying than the PuG i joined where the leader's friend was a Blaster who ran Whirlwind constantly and did almost nothing but scatter every spawn. Part of the time he'd stand there with it running and do nothing at all, which was when he contributed the most to the team. -
Quote:i was still getting the message gleemailing to myself last night.I JUST e-mailed a bunch of items to myself...and there was NO 15-second delay. I did 8 in a row as fast as I could send them.
Was this changed in a recent patch? It makes sense to have the anti-spam delay, but not for items you mail to yourself (you can't harass yourself), so this would be a welcome change. -

Quote:inorite?Since she is one of two posters I have gone out of my way to put on ignore, it is always disheartening when quotes of smilies fill the threads.
Back on topic: While there weren't a couple reveals i was half expecting, the barbarian and Halloween stuff that they did reveal was a nice/interesting surprise. (The female thigh-high-heeled "Barbarian Boots" are somewhat facepalm-worthy, but the other bits are nice.) The reveals i were expecting not occurring isn't that much of a surprise in retrospect. -
i normally slot one end reducer into click/attack powers and 1-0 in shield/toggle type powers and have few issues. Due to how end reduction works you get a lot less benefit from each additional end reducer in a power compared to slotting it for more damage or other effects.

Quote:*sigh* There's a reason one of her most common nicknames has the initials "G T".Because that's just what everyone needs.
To do raids and nothing else.
No thanks.
Call me when they start generating real content again.
Seriously, i tend to ignore or largely discount 90% or so of anything she posts that isn't just rewording of official announcements.
A few interesting things at PAX, but i wasn't expecting all that many new reveals this close to i21 release. Most of the near term, almost ready for primetime new stuff has already been revealed to the playerbase. -
1. A greater variety of environments. Not necessarily alien worlds, simply more locations with different climates and overall aesthetics similar to real world neighborhoods and ethnic enclaves. Also a more a sparing use of mazes of twisty little tunnels, all alike.
2. Hire Arcanaville to consult on powers and combat system design and balancing. She's had some great insights into powers and combat system balance and design; including some that have been incorporated into the current game.
3. Expand on and refine the current game rather than actually creating a new game from scratch. That is to say keep the current setting and lore, and the current core engine, and the basic archetype structure. Just revamp the combat and powers portions of the system. This would still be a major recoding of much of the game, but most of the existing assets and code would be modified and/or reused rather than starting from scratch.
4. Make sure the core game systems are more flexible and easy to expand/modify.
Mind you, much of this has already been happening with the current game anyway, but it's what i'd do. -
Makes you wonder how the original species/civilization to bear the name Sith ever got off their planet. Not that it stopped one of the Sith duo from planning to backstab the other anyway. *looks meaningfully at Vader* By that logic there should never be more than one to zero Sith around.

Actually i'm fine with you doing anything you want in your fanfic. Any irritation or contempt you might be sensing is directed at Lucas' hack storytelling/worldbuilding. (Yeah, i'm being kind to GL in consideration of the feelings of his fans.)

They are affected like any other ranged attack with a spherical AoE at the target location.

There's a recipe for an Ecto-Cooler themed smoothie over at Johnny Wander. Even though i haven't tried it yet it looks like a tasty recipe.

Quote:The wiki page that explains how level shifts and Incarnate shifts work is here.Just to make it clear, you cannot be level 51+, you can only become 50+

Quote:Right now, assuming you have Going Rogue, you talk to Mender Ramiel in Ouroboros to get the mission arc to unlock the Alpha Slot and then eventually craft and slot a rare or very rare Alpha Slot boost. As long as you're not exemped below 46 you'll be level-shifted to 50 (+1). Additional level shifts can be accessed, but they only work while playing the Incarnate trials. How do I become level 51+? I am confused as to the method. Thanks!
Level shifts are part of the Incarnate System. After issue 21 goes live you will be able to use the Incarnate system on any 50 as long as you're subscribed. Free and Premium players cannot use it.
