Way back in the early days all relevant defense types were added together when defending against an attack. The current system works much better.

i have a Defender who recently did this to open up the PPPs and to kick Lord Recluse's *** personally. Now working back to hero status. Hopefully i can restrain the urge to start running some of the villain arcs and get back to finishing the hero arcs.

I actually bought Beam Rifle, but the more I think about it the more galled I am that I'm being charged the same amount and getting less. If NCSoft wants to microtransaction a bunch of items like the XP temp powers, fair enough, but making us buy the powersets separately from our $15 seems like they are really changing the equation.
So using the points from your subscription (thus spending no additional funds at all) to buy additional powersets over and above the free powerset you already received is less economical than spending the money to buy an expansion to get additional powersets? Especially since so far we're getting at least as many free powersets a year as before, but now even more are being made available that can also be acquired for free if you don't have to have them the instant they're released? That is sucky, really terribad. Bad Devs! *whacks Devs on nose with rolled-up newspaper*

i still don't see the point. In the event that i decide to make some sort of homage character i still never try to duplicate the name, look, and abilities of the original; instead i take a mashup approach at the very least. For one thing directly copying someone else's character boring and stupid. i can see taking inspiration from another character, but copying them just means you really lack even the ability to feign creativity considering the number of free tools available.

i have occasionally made characters that play off of the names of other characters, but not copying them. Like making Backlight to act as Foreshadow's eeeeeevillll counterpart.

Invasion type events aside i haven't seen any use of Admin recently on live, so i've been missing all the fun. Of course if it was Zwillopolisnoworlater or some other Dev announcing they were looking to do some event with players i'd only be concerned the first time the red text popped up. At that point i'd realize what's going on and pay it little attention.

i'm good at ignoring unimportant things that don't amuse me.

For low demand stuff I'm going to compare 1, 5, and 11 inf sales for a while and see how it goes.

Thanks again for the tips, both of you.
Well, it's the rare salvage that tends to go for 1 million plus, so if i have three or four of a piece i have no immediate use for i usually dump all but one on the market. The market works on a system where the highest bidder gets their order filled first and the lowest price sells first. As long as the item is very active with a lot of outstanding bids you'll most likely get something close to the 'last five' prices regardless of how low you list the piece.
  7. Her name is Bernadette. She's actually an intern at the Omniversal Operations Preparation Schema. They're the ones who work at setting up the world slightly ahead of the present. All OOPS employees are supposed to clear out of the setting at least 5 seconds before the present reaches it, but her Transitioner wasn't calibrated properly and she ended caught in the present instead being at least 5 seconds ahead of it. The present is sort of like a pressure wave/temporal surface tension, and once caught in it it's hard to get free. Crews are trying to set up a Chronal Arresting Gear system, but it's tricky since they have to avoid catching the wrong person and the present is an ever-moving target.

Also, Chronal Arresting Gear's temporal signature tends to attract and aggravate Langoliers, so you can't set it up too long before, or leave it active for too long after, the present passes by.

Any salvage i put on the market i generally price at 5 inf. If it's in demand i may get a million or more, if it's not i might make less than vendoring it. Either way i got rid of a piece of salvage and made badge progress on that alt.

Besides that, you knew what the OP meant. I think anyone with a reading level above first grade knew what the OP meant.
Sixth grade i would say, unless the first grade in your area has really high standards. The typical first grade level reader would have difficulty even knowing what a lot of words in the OP meant.

Pedantry aside, DP/Time does seem like a fun melee-centric concept. i have a DP/Dark who tends to get in close and my Traps/Dark Defender constantly bounces into melee range and back out again.

i approve of the OP's build and the post itself, but then i do read at a level slightly above that of most first graders. Allegedly.

Not really. Beyond working at cornering a niche or otherwise aiming for outliers your actions will have negligible effect compared to the total volume of market activity.

The problem is that there is too great a supply of some types of common salvage, so the demand is trivial. I don't care about losing money on some transactions if it keeps some parts of the Market active and lets people like me who want to offload 20 Kinetic Weapons actually do so.
    This.
i've occasionally bought up chunks of common salvage to vendor for a very minor profit. And that was mostly before /auctionhouse existed, so it was a fairly big time sink. Anyone who thinks "flippers" are getting rich by buying up overstocked common salvage and vendoring it knows very little about the game. i can make far, far, far more inf per minute running missions than i can vendoring off overstocked commons. i do it out of whimsy and because i want people who are working on their sales badges to make some progress.

i miss those threads. There were some really insightful posts discussing game design and execution in those threads. Ah well, time marches on and over everything eventually.

Anyway, some of the restrictions have been relaxed, but not all are gone. Still, the new policies are an improvement in my opinion.

My level 50 Night Widow hero still "farms" whenever i want some quick salvage to craft recipes with. Other than that i've been enjoying the hell out of playing the regular game. While i tend to play new alts when new stuff is released my Traps/Dark Def has been plowing through the Black Scorpion missions and is almost ready to pound Lord Recluse into paste before heading back to Paragon City.

Farmers are still out there. (Although i have to admit to being a piss-poor farmer for the most part. i'm usually too busy enjoying regular missions.)

It's even worse when you consider the differences in size between various models, and that's not even including the non-humanoid rigs. In CoH it's almost impossible to make grappling look good with the current animation system.

Well, no they don't. They don't have to buy anything at all unless they want to do so. Admittedly if they want to have everything they do have to buy select sets. But only if they want those sets. And unless they want every set as it comes out they can still eventually buy them using the points provided just for being a subscriber, so even if they do buy them is doesn't cost anything in money beyond what the sub already costs.

    -------

Here's a question: instead of arguing with a bunch of players who have no decision making authority about whether or not PS will refund the points for the set has the OP actually bothered to contacted support and find out?

As of earlier this afternoon he hadn't, but maybe he could update everyone on his efforts and resolve the issue in a decisive manner by doing something other than whinging, backpedaling, and arguing on the forums. (Yeah, that's going to happen.)

No, i think this is quite accurate. It's much like Humpty Dumpty:
“I don’t know what you mean by ‘glory,’ ” Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. “Of course you don’t—till I tell you. I meant ‘there’s a nice knock-down argument for you!’ ”
“But ‘glory’ doesn’t mean ‘a nice knock-down argument’,” Alice objected.
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.”
“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master that’s all.”
Alice was too much puzzled to say anything, so after a minute Humpty Dumpty began again. “They’ve a temper, some of them—particularly verbs, they’re the proudest—adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs—however, I can manage the whole lot! Impenetrability! That’s what I say!”
