Quote:1) Congratulations.Just wanted to mention that
1) I finally passed the A+ Essentials exam
2) I'm thinking of making another Mission Architect for piracy, this time with other members of the Bloody Bay Bucs as NPCs. I'll be looking into it once we can use Dual Pistols so I can add another villain rank to the villain group I'd created... so for any Bloody Bay Bucs members, let me know if you're interested in starring in an MA!
3) I missed a lot of things on this forums, so... um... what's been going on? Can anyone update me? ;-)
2) Lefty wouldn't mind being in an MA arc. He's probably best as rather lethal comic relief.
3) Not much has been going on. Assorted events, exploding salads, i17 beta with i17 going live next week... That sort of thing. -
Quote:..all of them?
Saying that "reptiles didn't make it out of the Ice Age" is a baffling statement. Clearly they did or there wouldn't be any today.
..you do know that there are reptiles today, right? Snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles, and those frigging tuataras. Are you thinking of a word that isn't "reptile"?Quote:I was referring to the comment that was said about them being in the arctic Circle and Antarctica, there are no reptiles in those areas.
That post by you contained no references to arctic regions, just an assertion that reptiles didn't survive the ice age, which obviously isn't true.
Yes, i know the topic is reptile armor, but the above quote that was posted by you was what made me think you might've been making a confused reference to dinosaurs, since most of them did die off long before the last several ices ages even though dinosaurs were warmblooded. Obviously reptiles are still among us today.
Besides, dinosaurs are just plain cooler than reptiles in every way despite their hotbloodedness. Dinosaur Armor would also make it easier to justify turning into a T. Rex considering it wasn't a reptile. -

Quote:Reptile armor. Discuss. Personally i think making the toggles add the look of a reptile to the character would be badass.
EDIT tank primaryQuote:Think outside the box. I've never been one to think in terms of why something won't work but how you can make something work. I still think it's a great idea. <snippage>
Quote:Reptile armor could work for Stalkers perfectly, Though I would leave a minor Psi Hole and a huge Cold hole (I mean seriously, they didn't make it out of the Ice age.)
If you're thinking of dinosaurs, well some of them (or at least their direct descendants) are still around as well. You might recognize them as birds. All of the quadrupedal dinosaurs and most of the bipeds died off millions of years ago, but they were warmblooded anyway. Disappointingly, the largest critters of direct dinosaur lineage in the last few million years haven't gotten much above seven feet tall as i recall. All of the terrestrial megafauna in that timeframe have been mammals.
Edit: Come to think of it, aren't some penguins found near Antarctica? So much an ice age that occurred millions of years after they'd mostly already died out ending their time on Earth. Penguins like frigid temperatures just fine. -
Every time i think he couldn't possibly start a dumber thread with even more barely coherent whinging... he proves me wrong.
Overachiever and proud of it? -
i think he's asking which AT has the greatest DPS and DPE when damage and defense buffed.
Really, the best place to ask that would be forum section found here. After all the Archetypes & Powers General Discussion forum is the best place for that sort of question. That's where most of the players who do the min/maxing and number crunching thing tend to read and post.
Try phrasing it like this: "2+/8xwithbossesWhatisbesttoontofarmumIllhAVElotsofbuf fssonearlyalwaysatdefcapanddamagecap"
Skipping spaces is even more efficient than merely not using any punctuation. -
Well, honestly i guess this thread doesn't really concern me since i passed 60 months some time ago. Also, even before Ninja Run became an option it was not uncommon for me to not take travel powers before level 20 or higher. Or even not at all on some alts. So changing the 60 month reward wouldn't really affect me, but i do agree with those that feel that the current status quo is perfectly acceptable. Then again, as someone who feels no urgency about taking travel powers as soon as they unlock, i guess my opinion doesn't matter.
i've stated before that i'd prefer to have the veteran rewards powers just be free, permanent versions of temp powers available all players. Adding a recipe that unlocks travel powers at 6 for characters who craft it would be fine, even if it would be of dubious utility in my own opinion. Or even a pack you buy for your account. i just fail to see a real need for it at this point when anyone can get Raptor Pack flight at level 1 and Zero G Pack super leaping at level 11. (The Zero G mission is sometimes offered at 10, but is always offered at 11 to 15.) Of course you can also get Ninja Fun by buying the Marital Arts pack.
i guess the main use i've gotten out of the 60 month reward is mixing up prerequisites. Like selecting Teleport and Hover as my travel power selections. That part can be quite useful. -
Quote:What I guess is that the scrapper was annoyed by all the effects consistently happening in his proximity. And he probably thought that you were just following him around spamming your powers. I think the whole issue is not really too big a deal. The scrapper is probably not quite familiar with how kinetics works. Sometimes, the gameplay of CoH is a little repetitive and a person might be mistaken of being a leech.Quote:Hmmm. I generally play a rad defender so my debuffs don't leech per-se. My biggest problem is grumbling at newbie scrappers and blasters who immediately streak toward any glowing mob. I'm not clear why it takes so long to explain the importance of leaving the anchors.

Quote:the only thing i know is that wing boots will do something only if you have fly or flying type powers, they work just like any other wing except attached to a different part of your characterQuote:This^^^. They only animate for certain travel powers. Are you just walking around with them on?
Quote:No. Rocket boots activate for flight. Winged boots have the animation activated by running and the OP specifically said he used Super Speed. And they do NOT flap, so they are NOT like regular wings.
OP: What color? The aura, which is only around the boots, is very faint and if you set it to a dark color, it's practically invisible. I have the winged boots on a toon with light blue and white armor with the aura white. It's definitely noticeable with a light color selected.
Edit: And Zombie_Man beats me to it. With pictures no less. Curse youuuuuu! -
For "enhanced" indoctrination i would humbly suggest acquiring the services of Bad_Influence and Silverspar.

Quote:Like Zamuel posted, the dropships give xp, inf and inspirations. As far as i know they don't give recipes or salvage or merits. At least all the times i've been with groups that shot them down no one reported receiving anything but inf/xp/inspirations, and that's with at least 30+ dropships defeats that i've participated in.They can be taken down and numerous servers have done so. It's actually the foolhardy reason why my blaster has Group Fly. However, they don't give any rewards other than the xp/inf so it's more of a pride/community thing to band together and take them out than for the rewards.

It's possible, however unlikely it may seem, but still just possible, that the patch server for test has tens or hundreds of other players all downloading the latest patch at the same time. This is why they initiate the predownload for the live client when most of the issue's coding is ready. That way when it finally goes live the players only have to download a few megs. Of course even then it can be slow, and that's with multiple patch servers.

Quote:So true. One of my favorite QoL additions to the game.I give the devs a bit of guff from time to time for failing to learn from others who have already done what they are trying to do and have done it better.
This is one area where the CoH devs are miles and miles ahead of everyone else, and others should be learning from them. -

Quote:Look, if you're going to bring relevant facts into the discussion you obviously shouldn't be posting in this thread. i come here for the misguided, misinformed rhetoric and hyperbole, not facts and logic. Sheesh, some people...Blasters, Corrs and Fenders who rely on ranged def will be hit much harder than Scrappers/Stalkers/Brutes/Tankers.
Edit: And it's not like the change wasn't announced, in the public forums, weeks ago. b(^_^)d -
Quote:i thought TP Foe's range was considerable shorter than that, but it's been a long while since i used it, so i'd have to go check.I thought that prevention was for Teleport Foe, since TP Foe's range is beyond the range you can normally see opponents. If you can't target through someone else, you can't have them help you TP-gank someone.
Edit: According to the entry at City of Data the range of TP Foe is 200 feet. That's considerably shorter than perception range.
Still, as i recall from when it was implemented, not being able to target through teammates was intended to make coordinated damage spiking a bit more difficult. Having to target the called enemy while in a scrum is much less convenient than simply selecting the designated targeter for the group and opening fire whenever they say "Kill!" -
The power customization screen at the tailor/character creation. One of the options is Cloak of Darkness can now be set to not hide your character model. The no fade/pulse setting for Cloak of Darkness IIRC.

Quote:Bolt Crank from the manga Eat-Man was of an undefined origin, but he could eat anything and extrude/recreate it from his body later. He could eat an antitank rifle and later extend it from his arm to shoot something. He was probably either magical, natural, science or tech origin (or all four), but it was never revealed exactly which was most accurate. That's a much larger issue than being an origin specific powerset.
Still. I could have a magically trasnforming arm. Or I could have a mutation that allowed me to augment myself with robotic pieces.
There's still no reason to limit the origin.
i have a magical origin Assault Rifle and Dual Pistols Blasters that were inspired by Lyrical Nanoha.
If we had a powerset that involved various weapons popping out of the character's arms i would almost certainly make a magical wargolem or mutant with that set. -
Calling it "leeching" is still inexplicable. Offhand i don't know any definition of leeching that would make the Scrapper's statement make sense.

Quote:It wasn't really tilt in the sense i usually use the word. IIRC the character would do more of a pivot without tilting much at all, which is the main reason i thought it looked bad. If it had been more tilt and less pivot i wouldn't have minded it as much. Ah well, all water under the bridge at this point.I think we're getting hung up on things.
There were two "banking" techniques that were introduced.
1) The camera POV moved as the character went to the left or right. As you point out, Kheld Nova forms have always had this.
2) The character would tilt in the direction of a strafe if they were flying forward.
These were not the same thing.
Personally, I loved 2, but, like most everyone else it seems, HATED 1. Having the camera go all wonky was absolutely terrible. But the tilting into the strafe/turn was kinda nifty. I know I spent a ton of time just flying in circles and laughing at how fun it seemed. -
Quote:i think a better banking animation would have been to have the character tilt to one side when strafing forward rather than pivoting.I remember it. I thought it looked pretty ridiculous, and it suffered from the same weird animation bug that squid Kheldians have had since their release - it takes extra animation time to return to a forward-facing position. Interruptable, but if you're cruising around, it was really incongruous to go from a hard bank to a slow turn to face forward again.

Quote:Ah, okay then. That's pretty much how i remembered it. So it was that awful. To me the whole swing the character to one side or the other looked more like they were sort of skidding along rather than banking.I'm not so sure about that. It was pretty darned clunky-looking. It was an exaggerated version of the arms-bent pose. The problem for me was that it didn't really seem to work with the other poses, and that it was just a rather clumsy pose in and of itself, that looked like it was too drastic for the amount of turning that you were doing.
Now if they had made it a more graceful roll to the left or right, that would have been great.
