Just wondering if anyone has successful taken down one the ships that drops the bomb everywhere . Is there a reward for doing so ? Are they like the giant monsters that take several teams to wear them down or defeat them ? Just wondering , I'm bored at work

They can be taken down and numerous servers have done so. It's actually the foolhardy reason why my blaster has Group Fly. However, they don't give any rewards other than the xp/inf so it's more of a pride/community thing to band together and take them out than for the rewards.

Yes. In fact, if you go to my website's Videos page, you'll find a video called "Dropship Down". (YouTube yanked it, otherwise I'd send you there.) I filmed a Virtue group who went all out during one of the Rage Against the Rikti weekends. 60 minutes. 41 dropships. Eternal glory.

Like Zamuel posted, the dropships give xp, inf and inspirations. As far as i know they don't give recipes or salvage or merits. At least all the times i've been with groups that shot them down no one reported receiving anything but inf/xp/inspirations, and that's with at least 30+ dropships defeats that i've participated in.

Because you usually need at least 50-60 heroes to do it, and a lot of coordination and planning well in advance.

When Virtue did the Rage Against the Rikti, they planned it almost a week in advance, with people set up as captains, knowing who had Group Fly, who was gonna concentrate on what, where they were going to meet, planning which flight path to follow, etc.

Since I made that vid, several other servers have then done their own dropship marathons, but we've not had a major Rikti invasion weekend in a while.

The explosions are pretty much the best looking death in all of CoX.
