    Not personal wealth.

It's been a while since i took the snipe on any of my blasting types, but when i do i'll probably slot an ATO or Thunderstrike set in it. But that's just me.
And maybe a few other people.

The Pro version, since it's x86, yes... but it's not "classic mode that functions like Windows 7." It's a desktop "app" you end up having to flip back and forth from the start screen to (no start menu, and MS has been aggressively tracking down and closing any means of getting anything like it back) depending on the app, or if you want to start something. It's a royal pain. (And makes the OS fairly schizophrenic - some of your settings are under Metro, others are under the now-harder-to-get-to Control Panel from the desktop, some seem buried in IE, or have the same name in IE but do different things, or....)
Ow. Sounds like i'll want to pick up a couple OEM versions of Windows 7 after 8 goes live and before 7 gets deprecated unless some serious changes occur in the desktop/notebook versions of 8 early on. (i'll probably be building a new desktop sometime in the next year anyway. i've always wanted to try building a liquid cooled system...)

Which can still become expensive as you have to do this for every single region that has special restrictions on contest prizes and each region tends to have unique requirements that have to be addressed individually, which requires paying someone to address each instance. And that's not including any fees that might be required as well.

Or you can exclude the regions that make it difficult and/or expensive.

Pretty sure there are old (as in 6+ years) references to the particle effects in Energy Blast being adapted from the scrapped attempts at water blasts during the original alpha/beta. i know i've been hearing references to this for at least six years, but maybe it really is just a long standing urban legend?

Okay, i'll bite. How, exactly, do you work around the laws in the various regions that have laws making contest rewards expensive/illegal to award inside their jurisdiction? IANAL, so i'm not familiar with methods for easily and inexpensively circumventing laws prohibiting certain types of contest rewards.

Useless? Hardly. i take and slot both single target and AoE blasts, even on Fire Blast users, but when i consider things like DPS i generally don't think solely in terms of single target combat. While i will probably spec in the snipe after the changes go through and might decide to build towards perma fast snipe i won't be too worried about it either way. Hell, i might even try soloing pylons and GMs on my Blasters after this. (Without using MM as a secondary, even.)

My point was that when i think of the DPS of attacks i don't think of only single target in isolation since it's rare that i spend most of my time defeating single enemies one at a time, so stating that BB will have the highest DPS of the set seemed off to me. i guess it's mostly a case of lacking the right mindset to consider only single hard targets when thinking about a powerset.

That said, will the change in the snipe lead to AVs, EBs and GMs offering better rewards over time than groups of lower rank critters? i know AVs have better drop rates, but how does that compare to time required to defeat them? IIRC GMs still give little more than bragging rights for the time it takes to solo them. (That, and the occasional badge for the first time.)

So Rain of Fire is getting changed too? Or will the snipe now put out out more effective DPS against 8 or more mobs at a time?
When i play Fire Blast it's for the AoE potential.

When Claws and Super Reflexes were revamped i did make a Claws/SR to try them out, but that was entire powersets being changed. Not going to happen just for the snipe changes, but my EB/Devices and Archery/EM will probably get played more...
  12. In my opinion the best and most feasible option is to add hatchets/smaller axes to dual blades.

i like the overall look of the set, but i can think of a couple concepts where a minimal geometry version of the armors is much better, especially with how the auras look by themselves. That said, this is perfect for my long dormant (rarely played since 2005) Spines/Invuln Scrapper whose bio back then described his powers as absorbing the DNA of other creatures, primarily crabs, to emulate their abilities. If Spines gets ported to Tankers he will be a Bio/Spines Tanker. If not i'll just do a Scrapper version.

Some nice screenshots by the OP, but i do have to wonder somewhat about the choice of a costume that already has large, bulky geometry pieces when showing off Bio Armor's large, bulky geometry...

True, since you're answering a question that has no relevance to gameplay or set performance. As already pointed out your "analysis" has as much utility as a list of the average number of letters in each set's power names. It says nothing useful to anyone who actually plays.

Still, putting it together was probably a fun way to kill a couple minutes, right?

A thought: Is this some sort of subtle parody of how the original development team designed and balanced the powersets at launch?
  17. The great thing is that i was eating popcorn even before i started reading this thread.

Anyway, the thing about the snipe changes is that they're just part of a general overhaul of blast sets intended to make snipes more useful and desirable, not specifically part of improving Blaster performance in particular, so linking snipes to Defiance stacks alone would be silly on its face, although it could be interesting as additional mechanic if it's workable.

While my Defenders will be speccing in their snipes when this goes live, i do agree that it's not necessarily a great boon to Blasters as it is, but it's worth keeping in mind that the Devs have been pretty good about listening to players and tweaking things. Even occasionally scrapping a mechanic and redoing it completely. That doesn't mean they will incorporate every (or even any) suggestion that is made by everyone, and there are changes they will rule out for one reason or another regardless of how popular it might be, but the Devs do listen to feedback, so please do continue with the brainstorming and suggestions.

Supposedly. Really i think PD is lying. The question being whether they're lying primarily to themselves or everyone else. i strongly suspect the former.

Those doors that never open? Those lead to the sections with management offices with windows. Which also have their own elevator shaft. The first sign of trouble those doors seal off the management from the rest of the building. That's also why the accessible floor plans seems so bizarre and anti-ergonomic.

The world is not static. i'm sorry, but it's true. And by "not static" i mean the world can and will change in small ways depending on assorted decisions by different people. Honestly your complaints on the matter sound rather neurotically obsessive to me since i can't think of a single lucid reason to demand something that is not especially tied to any specific time always be done at the same time every week forever just because it was done at that time initially.

Enough crack and you won't have to worry about the next morning.

Regardless, time spent playing CoH and other games will most likely be the smallest regret i could have and is highly unlikely to be a regret at all.

Honestly, when most people visit a bordello the last thing on their mind is whether the top and bottom of the building match.

Be that as it may the bolero fix should be in the next patch to go live.

Lack of seeing comprehension sometimes accompanies a lack of reading comprehension.

Dropping the Big Dog mid leap is funny nonetheless. Even more so if it actually was with a snipe attack.

And when you reach it you have to go into it and try to shut down its computers. But when you do, you discover that you have only gotten the secondary cores, and the primary is still intact.

And then the entire structure lifts up off the ground like a giant steampunk Arachnos Flier with the team in it in a cutscene, and then the game respawns the Nemesis assault carrier just offshore of Peregrine Island and begins dropping Nemesis armies onto PI while the team tries to bring down the carrier and defeat the spawned enemies, calling for help from whatever players were out there. Sort of like a combination Synapse (spawning Babbage in Skyway), LGTF (which triggers a Rikti invasion event), Mothership raid (but a bit smaller), and an extra heaping scoop of kick-***. And the invasions would scale based on the number of players that decided to help, just like the Nemesis invasion event.

I'd write this task force for free if I could.
Okay, this would get my vote.

Well, if the request comes from another player saying "Invite my friend Parallell Parking." it could be trickier. i've had similar issues because the name had a period added and the person asking me to invite them didn't make it clear.
