Quote:*snerk* Nice mischaracterization of Edison and Tesla there, almost as accurate as the rest of your post.I don't even think you know Arcanaville, you hang out? go to parties with her (I know that much that person is female) text and call her 24/7?
Cause somebody invents the wheel, doesn't mean I need to thank them, they are providing us an advancement in humanity, which one day somebody else will as well, and continue to do so till our species dies out.
Did Paragon Studios thank Arcanaville? this is an American company and in a Capitalism economy, I can bet you 100M inf she saw not one dime in her efforts, and probably got the Edison/Tesla treatment..
Tesla: "Hey I got an IDEA! free electricity for all!!!"
Edison: "Can we market off that?"
Tesla: "Well..No...It's FREE!"
*Edison electrocutes a live elephant to show the dangers of free electricity*
Tesla: "WTF you do that for!! now they think electricity is dangerous and needs to be controlled!!"
Edison: "This is America, we are Capitalist, nothing is free moron, now watch the world laugh at you, and I market off your ideas and make myself into history!"
Tesla:
Now, I bet she's in all the beta's gets a heads up on developments that are "in the works" but it's all done for free *I assume* meaning even though she helps and does what she does awesomely, unless their is a paycheck involved like the rest of Paragon Studio gets, then well, I can't fully agree the people of this game thanked her enough.
The butt-kissing part? well that goes for allot that goes on here, I find it that there is a human condition that makes people see somebody as higher than them, by their miracles and wondrous powers, and those that they feel are beneath that, are compelled to worship or "butt-kiss" to make that person seem higher than them, it's been through history, and I would like this action to stop, cause it gives people god-complexes when sometimes those people are no where near greater than us.
"Creation is a tool given by the gods, use it, and use it wisely, for there are those that cannot grasp the ability to create themselves, and will burn you at the stake if that of which you've created seems far too higher than those that cannot create themselves can grasp.."
Yes, Edison was a jackhole who did his best to smear and undermine Tesla, but your version of it is about as accurate as someone's senile great-uncle telling the kids how Christ put two of every animal in the ark so that they could go retrieve the ten commandments from the garden of Eden. -
Quote:Are you absolutely sure you didn't buy the original City of Heroes box and are allowing it to apply only one patch every other day? Because that's the only way i can think of that you would be able to get even slightly close to an update every other day...What is with all the updates? There has been an update like every other day for the last month.

Quote:The funny thing to me is still that so many assume that closed betas are done in a few mass waves. The City of Villains beta was a closed beta, and while there are phases to the beta that are pretty clearly defined, like going from Friends & Family to inviting Players, the actual process of inviting players happens in many waves over many weeks, and could be anything from a few dozen players being invited to hundreds of players being invited, depending on how stable the beta currently is and what the Devs want to test. You lose again Mr. Duck. They have been out of F&F for awhile now. All kinds of people breaking the NDA doesn't usually happen till the people that don't have the slightest clue what they're doing enter... I think that would include you and the other people that scream "I wan shinee nou!". The NDA has been broken on here many times for awhile now. This proves to me that they are well into he beta waves.
With your track record of complaints and useless trolling and ranting I hope you and people like you are the last ones to see the GR beta. All they did was guarantee invites... They never said when! If you keep this up you'll be lucky to see it at all.
i was not in the first wave of the City of Villains closed beta, more like the 5th or 6th, and it was tough to play it even at that stage. Lag and/or latency were frequent and sometimes severe to the point that it was almost impossible to test things in the game because simply crossing a zone was a test of patience. Client and zone crashes were frequent and often the server would roll back everything you'd done in the last half hour. At that point it was usually more about filling out bug reports on the latest crash than trying out the new powersets or gawking at the new zones. Closed betas tend to have lots of incomplete and buggy systems as different systems are tested, reworked and tested again. Anyone who joins a closed beta thinking that what they see is exactly what will go live, or that all they need to do is wander around and then boast to their friends about all the sekrit new stuffs they saw is an idiot.
The biggest wastes of air are those who join a closed beta fairly early on, see that something is different from what is on live and then promptly goes screaming to the public boards (probably using a trial account as a proxy if their IQ is larger than their shoe size, but smaller than their waist size) that the Devs have nerfed accuracy or gutted [AT name] or that [new powerset] is an overpowered/underpowered mistake. Closed betas up until shortly before they go open are by default in a condition that is not representative of what will go live. Especially for new game systems, powersets and ATs since there is no "cottage rule" during beta.
There is no single factor that determines when you will be invited to a closed beta. While veteran/loyalty/passport/llama status might help bump you to a given bloc for invite priority, things like past contributions and random chance probably play larger roles in when the invite will be received. The fact that i've been invited to some of the previous closed betas alone might imply that it's an imperfect process. -
Quote:Wait, so you don't ever train or buy enhancements?Personally, I throw out every aspect of the game that has anything to do with Experience or Influence/Infamy. Funny enough, that included any and all interaction with Wentworth's from the get-go.
That's a true MAN approach.
Or do you mean you disregard/handwave/turn a blind eye to those aspects? Because "throwing out" implies you refuse to acknowledge or interact with the systems that involve experience and influence. So no training above level 1 or purchasing anything in game, ever. -
Most pets can attack enemies that are untargetable by players as long as long as the enemy critter isn't flagged untouchable as well.
Freakshow that are rezzing, Rikti invaders teleporting in, critters in a hidden/camouflaged state all can be attacked by pets while untargetable/unattackable by players. Generally AoE attacks that don't require a target can damage such enemies as well. Damage auras and rain powers are the most common examples. -
Played around with the added parts and in my opinion so far the Mutation Booster is the equal of the other booster sets. (All of which i have, like, and use.
)
The sword design is rather nice in my opinion, and i like the way it adds a rather beefy weapon that looks like it's made to do some serious hacking at enemies. Disappointed in that it's not a Katana/NB option, but still a very nice weapon.
The new tails are nice, both in looks and animations. i think the wolf tail looks like it has nothing to with the booster and by appearance would make sense just being added to the regular tails, but all three are quite nice. Very well done.
It's interesting that the Organic face pattern doesn't mesh well with the Organic torso, but it goes pretty well with the Biolume torso.
The Biolume face is rather creepy and disturbing, which is excellent. While i don't see using it on many heroes it will find use on some of my villains. The Organic face i like quite a bit more since it suits many more characters, but both have definite applications.
The OrganicArmor detail for the head doesn't appear to use the secondary color for anything. Would it be possible to modify it so that the secondary color allows the glow spots to be a different color than the rest of the detail? Just a thought since it would allow even more interesting looks for the piece.
Love the Biolume torso and legs, they work well for a number of concepts. Including reviving my Atlantean/piscine humanoid themed character named Merkin Verde. Originally a Spine/Regen Scrapper, but now i think she would be a Cold/Spines Dom.
Having the biolume pattern for boots only available for flat feet seems a bit limiting, but i can see why it wouldn't work with most of the other boot designs. Would a version for the Large Boots be doable? Also, a Biolume texture for the Insectoid feet seems like it might make a good boot option by using the current boot geometry and making a Biolume texture for it.
i think the newly added pieces are nice, and so far i quite like the booster overall. -
Quote:True enough. That said, i still play on Virtue more than Freedom.I think the PuGing on Virtue is generally excellent, but Freedom is not bad either. The "Freedumb" tag gets overplayed as much as the "LolRPVirtue" tag does. Both servers have a lot of quality players.
Every server has a good group of players at its core, but the smaller servers have fewer of them so your chances of finding a good random PuG go down.
Maybe you do, but for me the earliest times start blurring together, and to be honest it's not like you had the skills or knowledge to make it memorable for any reason other than it being the first time. A better first is the first time a teammate said of your performance, "Holy ****! That. Was. AWESOME!"
Quote:Main thing you are missing on Virtue is a lot of people with worn out parantheses keys and significant hypertrophy of the special snowflake gland. That said it's my home server and I couldn't imagine life on a lower population server. -

Mutant Pack Updates
- Fixed some issues with the new Mutant Pack, and added a few more goodies.
- Added Organic Swords (Dual Blades and Broadsword).
Quote:So no new swords for ninja blade/katana huh? Sigh. You guys need to remember us the next time you make swords for these booster packs.
And to think that my thought when i saw the picture David posted of the missing sword was, "Hey, it looks like the grip on that is longer than usual so that Katana/NB wielders can use the new swords as well."
Still buying the pack, but, considering that i would think at this point the art/design Devs would be well aware of the Katana/NB sets in the game (and the comparative paucity of sword options for them), i have to admit that i'm a bit nonplussed that they're increasing the disparity.
Not that my cursed-blade-wielding-drunken-cyborg-buccaneer Katana/Invuln Scrapper needs anything but the Chinese and Rularuu blades, but my someday-to-be-made heroic Praetorian NB/Ninutsu Stalker would like more options. - Fixed some issues with the new Mutant Pack, and added a few more goodies.

Quote:i am asserting that it is my belief that that is your opinion which may or may not be factual.Salieri taught Beethoven, Lizst and Schubert, he musta known SOMETHING of what he was talking about.
All i know about asserting that beliefs are merely opinions and only facts when they are my opinions asserted with full belief i learned from Ultimo_.

Quote:Now i'm going to buy the Mutant Booster anyway just for the the new sets, but i really think this should just be added as a standard option like the other tails already in the game. Partially because it doesn't really fit with anything else in the pack, and partially because this is something that many people have requested since launch for general use.Hey, folks. So its always fun to be the bearer of good news, and thats exactly what weve got for you today: an exclusive announcement that were revealing to you first. Weve hinted at the possibility of a proper, fluffy wolf tail for a while now, and yknow what? How about we give that to you sooner rather than later?
In fact, how about THIS WEEK. Jay built a snazzy new animated tail, and though we were originally planning to release it later as part of a different set, the schedules been moved up, and youll now have access to it as a bonus in the soon-to-be-released Mutant Pack. Heres a pic, and (barring any technical glitches) you can start playing with the new tail on the Training Room on Friday, along with the other tails and weapon that missed the last build.
Cheers,
David

Quote:i know this is a silly question, but you don't have Noscript filtering the site, do you?I spent 10 minutes and multiple attempts trying to register and it kept failing the registration, saying the highlighted fields needed to be correct but there were no highlighted fields.
Y'know, forget that. If I need updated map pack files, I'll get 'em from someone who already downloaded them. I'm not going through the hassle of registering (especially when it's that frustrating) just to download a map file that used to be so easy to get. -
i disagree, but not for the things he is apologizing for.
i also disagree with Ultimo_'s initial premise, but i've basically kept out of this thread because... well... because of the many examples of previous vicious windmill assaults. Err, i mean battles with giants.
So far Ultimo_'s activity in this thread has been according to well established patterns and expectations. Now anticipating a resumption of more of the same.
So i'll just go back to occasionally lurking and seeing what new variations on the same theme will crop up. Carry on. -
Quote:Don't forget Katana/Ninja Blade. Still, those animations are mostly unusable for a staff/polearm set.My thoughts exactly.
The point is a true one, though. There are plenty of animations and stances for weapons held in a single hand, or two weapons each held in a hand. There are no animations for two handed weapons, though. Except possibly the Stone Mallet.
With any luck staff/polearm fighting will eventually make it onto the schedule, but realistically it's at least a year until i'd hope to see that happen. -
i tend to play redside Virtue a fair bit, but i don't really do much recruiting or organizing VG-wise. In fact i think one of my alts is currently leader of a mostly abandoned VG that i inherited by default.
Still, i'm more than happy to join if you don't mind someone who stays in SG mode and helps with events and activities as long as i'm not expected to organize everything. -
-
No, it hasn't. As far as i know there are no plans to add the capability to do so, so i'm not sure that there's a 'yet' about it either. Then again, maybe they'll add a tool for that in Going Rogue. Unlikely but possible.
