We have axes and sword..I'd like to see Staves!

Demon Summoning as a whole was a very expensive powerset to make, easily taking as much time as 3-4 regular powersets. FYI, staffs/polearms would be about the most time consuming thing that we could make at this point. There are no weapon modes/stances that would be appropriate for it, so it would require a whole battalion of core animations, movement, hit reactions, variations of ninja run, flight, etc etc. More, it would require unique sets of IK driven animations for female and huge models. There's no way we could utilize skeletal re-targeting for them. I'm hard pressed to think of anything that would take more time to do...unless we did staffs as part of a new Mastermind primary along octopus henchmen who ride around on winged horses. |
The Story of a Petless MM with a dream
I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.
Many people have thought of this, myself included. Likelihood is that it will come in a few years, if you ask me. But I'm pretty sure it will be implemented at some point.
Also, the search bar is your friend. Use it.
The point is a true one, though. There are plenty of animations and stances for weapons held in a single hand, or two weapons each held in a hand. There are no animations for two handed weapons, though. Except possibly the Stone Mallet.
Personally, I think the fastest way to get Staves out there is to implement a Bo Staves Power Set, which would have a small staff in each hand. If the animators want to get crafty, I would think they could make you fit the staves together into one for some of the attacks. The basic stance, though, would have to be with the two hands holding the separate pieces of the staff.
Of course, we have the Nemesis Staff and Blackwand that are held in the single hand (and wielded one handed) but that might look awkward for a whole power set.
no, this game needs more tech not less.....theres other mmo's that you could play to get bo staff skillz up
My thoughts exactly.

With any luck staff/polearm fighting will eventually make it onto the schedule, but realistically it's at least a year until i'd hope to see that happen.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
I'd like to see Staves and I'd also like to see a general 2handed set where you can customize the weapon to look like a sword or axe or hammer or clubby thing. If staves can be thrown into the same powerset then that'd be nice.
I have some concepts that call for the same toon using different hand held weapons. Though it'd probably be easier to allow cross weapon customization (axes and sword models being used with mace powers). The damage type may not match the look of the weapon but so what? :P

I'd love see two handed animations for warmace, axe and broadsword if one is not using a shield. But doubt will happen but one can dream.
If they can animate people flipping around like maniacs with dual pistols and flexible whip attacks (which I imagine would be a good deal more difficult than animating rigid weapons) I don't see it being all that much harder to depict wielding a staff two-handed.
As far as having a "small staff" in each hand, two sticks do not a staff make, even with the word bo in front. They could probably just draw up some sticks for dual blades and that would serve just as well, so long as players could forget the name blades in the set.
I'd like to see staves implemented at some point.
Death Scythe and Blood Spear weapon set suggestions!
I still get excited when I read those sets. I'd so love it if they implemented these sets with a similar style

I'd really like to see them add the ability for characters to wield a staff. Anyone else thought about using one?
