i have a Rad/Dark Defender whose concept is cursing enemies with bad luck hexes. i find Radiation Emission is one of the easiest sets to conceptualize as probability manipulation since that's exactly what some of your powers do.

Quote:My roomie has a cat named Mr. No Head. The cat is female. My cat's name is PITA. Yes, that is an acronym, and it is an accurate description of her.
I love pets with nontraditional pet names. It's a wonderful thing.(Irrelevantly the roomie is female as well.)
i rather like the name Skippy Sidekick. It's whimsical and unpretentious. -
They taste awful, crunchy or not.
Also, they used to only give something like DO boosts to multiple aspects. i haven't gotten one in years, or used one ever, but was that ever increased?
Edit: Just took a look at the page for them. Yeah, at the level you can get them they're no better than set IOs except that you can outlevel them. Glee! -
Quote:i have the feeling they're returning after a 5 year hiatus of playing WoW, Everquest, or some other traditional MMO, so they have a lot to catch up on.I have the feeling that this player doesn't use those, but could be wrong.
Here's a quick pointer: Instead of adding new content by increasing the level cap and dumping all the new content there the Devs have added more to do throughout the entire 1 to 50 range. i'd suggest browsing through the wiki or asking what you've missed. There's a lot more in the game now than just emailing people items and inf. -
Quote:There is no problem. The Incarnate system will be adding the equivalent of another ten levels, but it's more of a secondary career/path than just tacking another ten levels onto the game with recolored Hellions.Does anyone know if COH will ever expand the playing lvl to atleast 70..i aked this 5years ago and still nothing whats the problem?
i appreciate the arrogance of your attitude in posting "i aked this 5years ago and still nothing whats the problem?" 5 years ago no Dev promised you or anyone else an increase in the level cap to 70, or anything past 50, and none has occurred, so obviously there is no problem.
Furthermore, i find your lack of apostrophes (and faith) disturbing.
So i now say unto you FNORD.
(You should now be feeling anxious about the subject for no conscious reason. If this is not happening please report to your nearest Illuminati endorsed salon.) -

You might want to consider a Human/Dwarf Peacebringer as well. Even more PBAoE and very good survivability against most enemies.

It would be interesting if it had given a 10% bonus to the prestige earned for mission completion instead. <.<

Quote:Um, you do realize it's possible for the powers to be too much weaker than primary or secondary sets, right? So it would be fine if Invoke Panic cost 33 endurance for a 5 second magnitude 2 fear as long as it's weaker than Fearsome Stare?yeah. that's kind of by design.
These are POOL POWERS
Let me spell this out: THEY ARE INTENTIONALLY WEAKER THAN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY POWERS IN NATIVE POWER SETS.
There is nothing wrong with the values on the pool powers, they do not need to be reviewed, and they do not need to be changed.
Actually, a power can be too weak to be balanced, regardless of whether it's a Primary, Secondary or Pool power. If the costs of a power are too high for what it does then it needs to be adjusted. No one was suggesting that "POOL POWERS" should be equal to or stronger than "PRIMARY AND SECONDARY POWERS", but, like "PRIMARY AND SECONDARY POWERS", it is possible for powers, even pool powers, to be too weak for what they cost. Capisce?
On what do you base your assertion that all pool powers are perfect as is? Have you looked at the costs and effects of the powers? Do you even know what percentage of primary or secondary power effectiveness a pool power should have? Can you justify your statement with anything other than the use of bolding and "because I said so"? -
Quote:There's a couple builds i haven't shared despite requests because i never used Mids' while making them and keep on putting off taking the time to enter everything into Mids'.I don't. Mostly because I don't have the patience to type it all out(I've never used Mids).
I do try to be original is I can, and don't share often to keep the originality(perhaps only imagined originality). I seldom use others' builds for that reason too.
Otherwise i have no problem sharing my builds if someone asks. For the most part i tend to make generalist builds in that they might focus somewhat on a specific role, but i almost never build around a single attribute/bonus. -
Quote:That was a fun run. i was deliberately lining up my AoEs to try to catch the other AVs.I'd like to add to this little thread with my own anecdote:
In one Kahn TF, I told the entire team to focus on Reichsman and not worry about the other AVs.
Three of them were dead by sheer AoE splash damage by the time Reichsman dropped.
i've had the same thing happen on an STF where Scirocco and Black Scorpion were both pulled, we were focused on Black Scorpion and took out Scirocco with the splash damage. It was a confusing couple of seconds after BS dropped where we were trying to figure out where Scirocco had gone.
i have to agree that whether to target bosses first depends largely on the enemy faction and the team makeup. Generally the problem sorts itself out on large teams due to AoE damage. Everything else drops first because they have fewer hitpoints. -
Quote:This would be my guess as well. As i recall accolades and many other badges that have faction specific names were set up well over a year ago so that the displayed name is based on your faction. While some badges are/were restricted to either hero or villain the various accolade powers are identical on both sides and it's just the displayed badge name and unlocking requirements that differ.Based on the fact Epic Pools don't allow for copies of the same power from sets, it stands to reason you will not be able to stack the accolades. They are the same powers with different names and requirements.
So the accolade powers are the same power whether you're a hero or villain with the displayed badge for the accolade/power based on your faction regardless of how it was originally unlocked. Once you have the power unlocked it doesn't matter if you meet the unlock criteria a second time since it points to the same power. (Sort of like how i get the "Epic Archetype Unlocked" message every time i got another alt to 50 (err, now it's 20) even when they are one of the Epic ATs.)
At least that's how i think it works. It's been a couple years since i recall reading the discussions about accolade powers. -
For me Steel Canyon is always Steel.
SC is Shield Charge, Surfing Clocks, Siren's Call or Surplus Cactus. -
This. My Darks use Howling Twilight as an autohit debuff and control power that occasionally revives a fallen ally. i generally tell teammates that they should try to avoid dying too soon after i use HT so that i can revive them before the fight's over. It's great for recovering from a partial teamwipe, but far too good in general to save it just for rezzing purposes. That's handled by combining inspirations.

This. If it's one or the other i say Fallout. Since you're the Defender of the trio i would suggest getting Vengeance later on if you can fit it in, but corpse nukes are awesome.

Quote:True. i've had a couple alts which have been my marketeering alts to get the exact enhancements i wanted, but on most of my alts i just dumped unneeded salvage and recipes on the market at vendor prices and use the profits to buy DO's, SO's and saving up for when i start actively using IO's in the later twenties. Now that we have global email i sometimes keep a list of salvage i need for specific sets and email those to myself if i find them while putting everything else on the market at minimal prices. If that rare i listed at 5,000 sells for 10,000 it's still a profit, and if i get 2 million for the piece i listed at 5,000 it's a bonus.Probably true most of the time, but I would advise anyone to just sell stuff on the market frequently. It helps supply (and all of us, therefore), but it also informs you what a "normal" price for an item is. So you can put in a bid for what something normally goes for, even when the price is way higher. It'll come back down eventually.
To put in my two cents on the overall topic, getting money is really just as simple as playing the game. You can play the market a lot and farm, sure, but you don't need to. Just sell your drops wisely (checking to see if you can get more on the market as well: this doesn't take all that long), and the money will come.
I came back to CoX not long after the invention system was in place, and I had a lot less money than most people. I made a Blaster at the time and got him to 50, managing to buy all his IO sets with the money he made alone, filling up the slots that opened with each level increase. He didn't get inf from any other toons: this was all based off of what he sold from drops. He was helped a little by having a respec recipe drop (but it was only worth 18 million then), but most of his gains were little steps here and there.
You can put together a respectable build with not a whole lot of money: it's only some desired sets that are worth a few million for each piece, and the really rare ones that are worth more. Are those sets nice to have? Sure. Do you need them? No. Go for something more realistic than a purpled out build, sell your drops, get merits, and it's all fun and gravy. -
Quote:Honestly that's why i think making definite assertions about subscriber numbers one way or the other is a bit silly. It would take quite a bit more effort with the tools players have available to make a slightly accurate guess at what the active player and subscriber numbers are currently. At the very least i would say taking a headcount on each server every four hours or so for a week just to get a handle on the non-hidden numbers of active characters on the servers. Which still wouldn't tell us much about subscriber numbers.Given that forum visitors are not representative of the average player, would anyone care to speculate whether this would skew the numbers up or down? Offhand, I can't think of any reasons why forumgoers would be more or less likely to be hidden.
Of course there are people out there who not only know the number of active accounts, but even the exact percentages of players on hide, average number of hours logged in per account per week, etcetera, etcetera. However they work for Paragon Studios and NCsoft and aren't allowed to tell us.
So far the game is doing well enough that NCsoft thought investing in it is a good idea. Beyond that it's hard to say. i fully support any efforts Billz and others want to make at trying to nail down active player numbers in any event. -
Quote:i see. i guess the thing is that i only raid about half the time (or less when there are no regular scheduled raids) on Champion. The rest of the time it's on Virtue. One of the most appealing things about Champion Hamidon raids is seeing so many familiar players and characters, which is something Virtue raids don't have going for them. On Virtue the first raid of a night is usually a crapshoot of whoever showed up before the Hive filled.Uh, if they were Hamidon raids lead by Amy, Angie, Cherry, Llewthor, or Trevor, I can guarantee you that all team leaders were picked well before the Hamidon raid began forming. All teams serve very specific purposes, which require knowledgeable team leaders. That's why people are asked not to form their own teams in zone, because doing so just leads to chaos and confusion, and slows everyone down immensely.
Usually blueside raids on Virtue usually take less than an hour after Hami spawns, occasionally less than half an hour. (But the latter is very uncommon.) There are no preset team leaders and sometimes not even a preset raid leader. i'm not saying those aren't useful, but they are unnecessary, and i base this on the fact that i witness it several times a week if i'm in a raiding mood. And this is on Virtue where any random 45+ yahoo can and will wander into the Hive since the raids are held on a regular schedule several times a week, and generally at least twice a night on the scheduled nights.
Being used to doing something a particular way doesn't mean it's necessary, or that chaos, apocalypse and crossdressing monkey grinders will appear if it's not done that way.
Anyway, i'd like to see a return of regularly scheduled blueside raids on Champion since it's one of my favorite servers for Hami raids and just raids in general. It's easier to try to make time for an event if i know about it in advance. -

Quote:What do you have against reds?1) Would love to see raids regularly again as long as we can get people who come on the same page and keep the rouges to a minimum.
Quote:2) Already know what there is to know about the leadin' aspect. I'd be interested in leading the teams anytime.
But as far as leading the entire raid goes, I'd be wanting to bring my own crew to lead the teams and unfortunately not very many of them hold the interest and enjoyment of Hami Raids that I do. But ya never know
Although it is important when clearing Mitos to try to keep the blue spikers/assault team from getting ahead of the yellow spikers/melee team.
i wouldn't mind seeing a return of regular raids, but i'm not able to guarantee being able to attend specific raids, so i don't think i'd make for a regular team leader. Although, as i already mentioned, i also don't see the need for designated leaders for most teams. Most of the time when i join raids the team leaders are whoever started inviting first. -
Quote:When i first got mine it still had the "charge any enemies in the area" AI. Although i've never heard of one of the veteran buff pets ever using an attack, they would fly at enemies and then hover around them until the enemy broke them. Which generally wasn't long at all.I guess I got mine after they removed any "attack" feature but my buff pet has never rushed past me to attack anything.
They're better alpha absorbers now that i can choose when to have them rush enemies by summoning them there instead watching them charge past me all the time.
