Not a bad suggestion, but this could also be done as an added feature to herostats or a similar program.

Mac's a nuke? That explains SO much. Oh, the stories I have of nukes... Either the dumbest geniuses or the smartest morons I've ever come across.
In related news, I'll be stateside within the month, so try to safe some of the I19 treats for me! -
Well, the time has come yet again for that dreaded call... I'm deploying again. My account is still going to be active so I can accrue vet rewards and post here, but I'm not going to be in game for the next 6+ months. Take care everybody, and enjoy GR, I'll be back and looking to check out all the new shinies sometime near the holidays (hopefully). Bless you all and stay safe!!

I'm glad they went with Tanker Tuesdays instead of Tanker Mondays. Nobody wants TMJ!!

It was a fun time, I finally picked up the MAA badge on my main badger as well as a yellow title. Glad I could make it!!

Saw this thread and had one thought. (a new high score!)

As for a villain equivalent.. i dunno, a huge WANTED poster? Quote:For 50 mil plus upkeep you go into a billboard rotation (shades of the old ad system) [yes, you will see it and other's won't but they will eventually because it's in the rotation].
With a little tweaking, this could be the next little morsel of awesome. -
Why not? Put 'em all together. I wouldn't mind playing on Union once in a while, and let all our international super-powered friends truly experience FreeDumb. We can have all the best drunks of the world together on Pinnacle, and some true international insanity on Justice.
/signed, /signed, and /signed again! Forge my mom's name and /sign that too!! -
Quote:Ultra Mode is an overhaul of the graphics engine, but I think the OP was referring to the game engine. What they want to see changed is entirely beyond me, but probably refers to everything the devs have referred to as "cannot be done with our existing game engine".*peers in crystal ball*
Yes...I'm seeing...yessss...it's becoming clearer now...they WILL overhaul their graphics engine...and they will....wait...lost it...hold on...they will call it ULTRA MODE!!!
*phew* that was taxing.
Maybe they want the new game engine to spit out cheesecake. -
You forgot the ever-increasing need to merge the servers, as well as the markets.
And get rid of levels, lest we see more suggestions to raise the level cap. -
Quote:^^^This. This would be a great QoL thing. Hopefully it'd help alleviate paper mission spamming due to lack of knowledge as to what to do.
Although, I would ask that it be an optional thing, as opposed to the irritating pop-up "The Mission Architect Manager would like to speak with you" sort of thing. Matter of fact, this can eliminate those pop-ups entirely, and could conceivably be added into the tutorial and/or the "FAQs" that come up when talking to trainers. -
If you're in such a huff that 2XP isn't granted in AE, your power company must hate you during a power outage.
I mean really, sitting inside playing a video game of sitting inside playing a video game? At least get your character outdoors and have some fun!! -
I want this thread title as a new badge. "Master of Fail" - complete 25 "Master Of" Task/Strike Force attempts unsuccessfully. Make finish the TF/SF, just so it's not really easy.

I was hoping for something like this originally with the tech wings... I would LOVE to see it happen!!

Quote:Clarification of reply taken from mid-thread to explain problems with points under the assumption that quoted poster did not fully understand previous reasoning.Late poster who agrees with the OP on several points that were shown to be a fallacy 2 pages ago.
Irate response to non-quoted post.
Unrelated tangent from current thread discussion. -
A quick search on Amazon revealed new copies of GvE edition for less than $10. That's less than the cost of the month of play it includes in addition to the GvE goodies.

Quote:At least you don't need to worry about RMT spammers...After looking at the explanation on the site (which you've summed up very well here), I thought to myself "Great - now the feds really WILL be looking to tax video game currency ..."
Scary idea - imagine what theft of account information in THAT game would cost you ...

I know it's a toward the high end of your budget but this model is a pretty capable system off the bat, and has plenty of upgrade potential to spare as your budget will allow in the future. The graphics card is decent, not quite ready for Ultra Mode, but will still handle the game rather well, and with 4G RAM you won't be slowed down much. As cash flow improves, another 4G and GPU upgrade will have you on the front lines destroying the most beautifully rendered baddies possible.
On a side note, I hope you already have a monitor. -
I always hear Keith David as the voice of Dark Watcher. And possibly BABs. And a good percentage of the strong male characters of the game. I dunno, maybe it's the amount of voice work the man has done, or perhaps just because his voice is awesome.
I also always thought Tony Jay to be an awesome Lord Nemesis. Maybe it's from all those years watching ReBoot, but he's like the ultimate mastermind voice.
And Fusionette always sounds like Joey Lauren Adams to me. -
Honestly, on the list of Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, and GR in general, Demon Summoning is at the bottom of my list.
Sorry to disagree with you, but DP applies to multiple ATs while DS only applies to one, and GR applies to the entire game. You know what they say about the needs of the many... -
Quote:Astute observations, as always, by BillZ. There are ITFs running pretty much constantly on Justice. Now, I'm not saying that there's one piece of hardware upon which that "server" is housed, as I've never seen the physical setup of the game's servers. But I do know that from the sheer amount of people running the ITF at any given time, especially during peak hours, if the server itself had some sort of lag then I should see that lag at some point during normal play.I understand what you're stating, and I've also heard that the lag in that particular case is a server side issue.
The server may not care what my system is rendering, but the fact stands that some rigs suffer less lag than others during the same ITF. That implies that there's something going on there other than *just* the server getting hammered for your particular instance of the zone. And I've never fully bought that argument anyway. 1 section of 1 zone gets hammered but every other zone instance being managed by that server is unaffected? C'mon.
If I'm getting minimal lag while another player on the team flat out DCs when someone fires off a tier9 nova, then something beyond *just* server lag is happening.
This is why I'm in a wait and see mode. We don't know if the devs learned how to streamline some of the more ridiculous performance-degrading zone design decisions with the code changes involved with changing the game to allow for ultra mode. RV, Gville, CaD and Mercy these days are all poorly designed in relation to end client performance.
I'm curious as to whether those that choose not to turn on ultra mode will end up getting some performance benefits related to the back end changes necessary to get ultra mode working. <shrug> We'll see. The devs haven't stated one way or the other that I've seen.
When I used to play on my laptop (which was not far over minimum requirements to play), I would see crippling lag during the ITF, being able to fire off a power maybe twice a minute. Since I upgraded to a custom gaming rig, I see a drop in lag valley, but not lower than about 20 FPS. While that's not great (especially compared to my performance in RWZ/Hami raids), it's far from unplayable, and I don't see DCs anymore at all.
I'm more inclined to believe the rest of the lag is caused by something along the lines of bandwidth, where the client and server are trying to pass more information than they have lines open for and it's all being funnelled through a few ports. This could also explain why the lag is only seen by those on the TF, as the server would dedicate a certain amount of bandwidth to each user and therefore not lag to anyone but the users who are requesting too much information at a specific time. Just a theory, as I may have a better-than-average technical ability, but I'm no networking genius. -
If it means losing the rest of the awesomeness due to balance issues... yes.
After around level 18 or so, I never had an issue getting heals on time, so long as my teammates stayed within range (and I chase them when they need the heal). The animation time is a non-issue if you learn to lead it.
Which is a nice way of saying, "lrn2playnoob"
