Quote:I'd rather incorporate a large endurance cost (say, 10-12 end/sec base cost) to emulate "pushing" yourself and make it useful only in "burst" situations. The concept reminds me of the flight sequence at the end of Matrix Reloaded. Perhaps an animation of a "streamlined" form, fully prone position with head slightly up, arms tight at sides and feet pointed with toes back with a large dust eddy formed behind you.I've often seen this suggestion given as an alternative for Group Flight. The only problem with it is that no one ever seems to realize that the Devs will never give us a version of Fly that's as fast a Super Speed without some significant limitations. If "Hyperflight" worked as you suggested here the fact that it'd be a tier 4 pool power would likely not be "enough" to balance it.
The only way they would make a version of Fly as fast as Super Speed is if they put some kind of timer on it (i.e. only works for 15 seconds) or if they made it so it was almost impossible to turn while Hyperflying. They would do something like this to make it not quite as cool as "Fly that's as fast as Super Speed".
Basically if they ever gave us "Flying Super Speed" without any limitations then almost no one would ever bother with "Grounded Super Speed" anymore. In fact that's pretty much why Fly is slower than Super Speed and Super Jump is right now. It keeps those powers from being completely pointless. -
Quote:I think the OP was referring to using the staff as an alternate animation for certain blast powersets.I have to point out that all I can picture is a blaster throwing wooden rods at someone.
/notreallyfororagainst.
While this could work with some of the elemental powers, I don't think it will fly well for AR and Archery, although I do get a funny visual of using a staff for Dual Pistols (and no, I would NEVER abbreviate in that context).
With regards to that... I can't support throwing extra art resources into new animations for existing powers, and can't conceive a workable blaster secondary based on staff use. Please feel free to write one up and I'd be glad to submit an opinion.
Otherwise, I'm all for a melee staff/polearm set, especially if it shows the level of animation we've seen in recent new sets. It might even give Valkyrie something to do with that useless thing she keeps strapped to her back. -
Grats Rad! Best of luck on all the new "experiences" that await you!

FA is pure, unadulterated awesome. Especially when I lead with Flamethrower and follow up with M30 grenade... and rejoice in the sea of great big orange numbers.
Of course, the only issue is that half the time I end up pulling aggro off the tank and have to go dashing THROUGH the angry mob just to make them notice the big stone/flaming/whatever dude smacking the crap out of their buddies again. But hey... any blaster who can take aggro away from a competent tank is just doing their job TOO well.
LRM is wonderful in the situations that present themselves, but I find myself using it sparingly, mostly due to the long activation and hellishly long recharge.
HoB is not bad with incredible visual effect, but after 4 years of AR, I found DP to be kind of lacking.
RoA is an awesome nuke, and a wonderful sister power to FA. But I gotta stand by my baby here.
I never really had the patience to develop my TB skills so I can't really say too much about it. A stack of trip mines, OTOH, is pure love. Nothing can be more fun than starting a fight with an EB at 3/4 health. -
I used to get the same problem when I ran AVG Internet Security, especially any time there was a patch. Because the game file had been modified since the last time it had run, it got flagged as a security risk. In the end, I had to customize the permissions and reboot for the larger patches. Since I cleared that stuff off and dropped down to AVG free with a few other manually run scans, I've never had a problem.
Glad to hear you're back up and running, though. -

Quote:Perhaps this will help clear up some of the confusion.Errr aren't the ratings created by players? Meaning that someone may use a 1 as a good player, and someone may use a 5 as being good?
Unless it's a different type of rating the OP means. -
One of the devs (think it was Posi or BaBs) said a long way back that if you share information on the bug with the general public or ask for the badge, you'll never get it.
-
I can say that general-con enemies like the Rikti invasion forces still con the same color, even with level shift applied.
-
As long as it's got the "Visa" or "MasterCard" logo on it, it should work fine.

-
Also, if you get the xp bonus, hit level 50, and unlock incarnate abilities, re-running the WST will NOT get you a Notice, since you already have received your weekly WST bonus.

Before the trolls show up...
You'll find a much warmer reception here.
Honestly, bases have been in serious need of major love, but the devs have had them pretty low on the priority list for a long time, mostly because it's easier to sell the game on original things like the costume creator, AE, and all the new GR/incarnate content. I feel your pain, but it's been a long wait so far and there's no visible light at the end of the tunnel.
Then again, Duke Nukem Forever is coming out soon. -
Quote:Never noticed that, but I just checked and you're right. I'm surprised I never saw that before.Actually the airport is marked on papermap. I'm not saying we need new zones but personally I don't mind even let say... enormous number of new maps just for fun
Anyway, there's one issue I see with shoehorning an airport into our existing city zones (aside from the same risk to aircraft from our heroes that RL aircraft have from birds). Short of VSTOL aircraft (I.E. Harrier, Osprey, etc.) and helicopters, no aircraft can approach the correct altitude during takeoff/landing to clear the war walls. -
The fur lovers are being appeased... Can I get my steampunk pack yet?!? Wings are required as well.
-
I stand behind this. You get all the perks you've already mentioned to the self rez, plus the splash damage from the self-destruct, and no debt. Win all around and no new tech required. Only catch is no vengbait, but if you need veng after all the extra stuff you're pulling off then you're obviously already losing.
-
Considering they have no inventory cap (that I've heard of), there's really no harm in keeping the extras for future use if you don't need the breakdown shards.
-
Thinking it over, it does make sense. You've already done the WST and gotten the rewards for it, so it doesn't give them twice in one week. You've definitely been burned by the system, but I don't think it's a bug.
Not to say it doesn't bite, but that's our system.
Oh, and rlloyd, standard code rant applies. -
Quote:I'd estimate 0.05%. The majority of the player base has already seen how the devs eventually give us exactly what we ask for and will remain patient to see a future change, and most of those that choose to leave will be for a series of issues that have stacked up over time. I don't see the TF requirement which has already been stated will not be the only way to get a Notice becoming the sole reason someone will quit the game, especially for longtime players who have already stuck it out here through ED, GDN, the AE farm response, and the PVP revamp. What's your guess? Say, within an order of magnitude. 50%? 5%? 0.5%? 0.05%? (Again, that's people for whom having to run one/three TFs is a deal-breaker that will cause them to leave the game.)
That said, I think a few of the people who are waiting for a solo option to come out with I20 are being a little short-sighted and will be disappointed. I'm not saying I don't have faith in the devs, but I think everyone jumped on Black Scorpion's "this is the only way to get drops until I20" and "we will investigate into a solo option" posts and took them to mean something they won't. I believe a solo option will come along, but it's more likely being put on the planning board now, which means it won't see the light of day until I21 or 22.
