Add ratings to the team search dialog
:X I decline. Ratings are a bad idea because some sets are easily scapegoated when they are doing just fine. Hey, the stormie may be trying to cooperate with the tank and complement him, but the tank may be a stubborn git and not cooperate so everyone blames the stormie.
You are aware ratings are client side only, right?
Um, what do sets have to do with player ratings? I rate for things like quitting teams/TFs without warning, or having a wonderful sense of humor.
I rather like the idea of adding the rating system as another column to the Team Search window. It would be a nice hassle free way to see if someone has a note, whether good or bad, without having to manually check every person I think about inviting to the team. It just helps team leaders make informed decisions on who they invite.

I never understood why this wasn't included when the rating system was introduced.

Your comment doesn't have anything to do with the proposed suggestion, so I'm not sure what you thought you read. |
The problem with a rating system is that it will not only be used by good players, it will also be used by idiots.
Therefore, as in the above mentioned example, if the tank is an idiot, just hates stormers (or Energy Blasters, or whatever set even though stormers and tanks can work together just fine, the idiot tank will give the stormer a bad rating.
People, aside from the purely ignorant, will give players bad ratings just to grief them.
No, this is a horrible idea. Ratings are client side and need to stay that way.
Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
It has everything to do with the suggestion.

So whatever Mr Idiot Tank thinks of a Stormie is irrelevant (unless it's Mr Idiot Tank doing the searching / inviting).

...and in those sorts of cases, it's probably better to get a low rating from an idiot.

(I know I'm being slightly unfair to idiot tanks, but it stems from the i4 days when I used to be told not to use Freezing Rain "because it makes things run away from me")
*shudder*
Errr aren't the ratings created by players? Meaning that someone may use a 1 as a good player, and someone may use a 5 as being good?
Unless it's a different type of rating the OP means.
Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!

A player would never see others Star Ratings in the search box in any way, only the ones they themselves have previously set.
I'd like to be able to see the star ratings when I'm searching for teammates, and to be able to sort by rating. I don't know if this would be hard or not, but it would be useful to me.

From what I'm reading the OP just wants to be able to see ratings *they've* put on characters from within the search box, not some sort of global system.
So whatever Mr Idiot Tank thinks of a Stormie is irrelevant (unless it's Mr Idiot Tank doing the searching / inviting). |
Apparently you and Storm thought the OP wanted a NEW global rating system (similar to how AE Arcs are rated, where they're seen by everyone and anyone can vote on them, or how the forum rating system used to work way back on the old forums). I don't see how you two got to that conclusion, but it's pretty far off. Your responses do make sense in that context, because it would be a horrible idea, so we agree there.
Now how about the merits of the OP's idea?
