What the Tank's "job" is, is highly subjective. I would say the scrapper should be waiting on the Tank, but it's not my place to tell people how to play.

So why to 1/2 the Tanks I invite to my teams let me charge?
Why do 1/2 the Empathy defenders I meet put their heal aura on auto? Why do 1/2 the blasters I run into lead with an AoE before I grab aggro? Why do 1/2 the players out there do anything stupid?

Why? Because that's the going rate on PUG's. If you don't want to experience it, make some friends you can play with more reliably.

    Quote:
So please enplane to me how you guys play Tanks? Because clearly I don't understand what the point of your AT is. Or why you wate for some one else to attack the spawn and get the alpha.
Well, clearly, coming in here and assuming that all tanks play the same way, and coming into the tanker forum and complaining about it is the best way to become enlightened.

Sarcasm aside, you may want to take a time-out on the rage. You're playing with PUGs. You have no idea who's playing and if they know anything about the AT they have. You know what the experience is like as a Tanker in a PUG who does know what he's doing?

It ranges on anything from people not letting the tank lead, to people demanding on the tank only using taunt and no attacks to people insisting on the tank herding, to people doing any number of things.

You just notice tanks not doing a good job because you rely on them so much. Did you walk into the blaster forum and ask why the blaster in your example group behaved that way? Or the defender forum for the Empathy defender? Why ask about tanks when it sounds like your whole team was really bad?

This happens at least 5 times a day for me. I completely understand the possibility of missing a stationary object.

I like the way they've implemented all these things you're trying to "fix." Thanks, but no thanks.

    Death Emotes.

Actually, this has been suggested before on many occasions. In fact, I suggested new defeat animations (including unique ones for some of the monsters/AVs) in the All Things Art: Animation Edition thread, not that long ago. I'd suggest bringing it up more often over there since the devs are looking over those threads quite a bit.
  4. A blaster could be pretty good. And if you want a thematic fit with the concept you made for your tank, maybe something with Archery. Whatever your friend chooses, DO NOT LET HIM GET ENERGY BLAST!

Not that it's a bad set, but as a tanker whose survival depends on proximity to foes, Energy's KB will really make things difficult.

Kids, this is why you can trust je-saist for technical advice, but not always in-game advice.

OP, there are scenarios where Taunt can really come in handy. But they're not that often and shouldn't make Taunt a make-or-break power for you. My advice as an avid Tanker: If you find yourself in that situation, use your second build for the trouble spot. You can still be a great tank without it. I know I never get complaints on my taunt-less tanks.

So one very unimportant badge would be easier. I'm OK with that.

They are annoying, I'll grant you that. Anything that can't possibly drop anything and rewards nearly no XP should not count towards the aggro cap. There's nothing worse than a situation where you can't taunt people away from team mates because you have a zoo's worth of monkeys waiting in line to tag you.

This would allow a solo Tanker to be a bit more endurance efficient, and to be able to use his more damaging powers (and things like heals) faster when he needs to. It would also be a decent team buff, allowing for multiple Tankers to both contribute to the team's speed.
    We have a winner.

I think this would also inspire tankers to do that which they do best; soak up aggro. Would it be best to have it charge up from attacks coming in, or attacks coming in and going out? One might encourage more taunt-botting, but the other might encourage better team involvement from the tank.

This. Not a bad idea for costume use. This way you can look however you want, but it changes nothing outside what the enhancements could do. Then you could just switch costumes to help in certain situations. Or just have 5 of the same costume if you don't want to change the look.

But yeah. It would probably be borked.
  11. Well, I'm probably too late to the party, but if there's anything left at this point, I'd greatly appreciate 100 million for my blue side, Protector SG.

  13. One animation that I think could use some updates is the defeat animation for foes. The "clutch-chest-and-drop-to-knees" isn't a bad animation at all. But it's the only one. I think having a few different animations would be cooler, and having unique defeat animations would be a great touch. Look at Kronos. This is a robot. Why would it clutch its chest? What if instead it had the Self-Destruct animation (but on a shorter time frame)?

    Just my 2 inf.

Having helped you there, please allow me to express my amusement at your question. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You think that's pricey!? That in itself is priceless.

If you aren't happy with base rent, take out your storage units. Or... you know... run in SG mode more often. You have a whole month to make the prestige, and even then, you can pay it late. In fact, I never pay it until the power goes out. It's still the same rate on-time or late.

    Quote:
i think its unfair that people can have a totallly finished base from old prestige now that server pop is so low its like totally impossible to build an sg.

Now its another thing that i or anyone else has to farm to.
I think it's unfair if people get to make and have everything as soon as they start playing the game. What's the point of playing the game if you didn't have to work at least a little bit for anything. You don't even have to farm prestige, just turn on SG mode in regular game play. It's that EASY!!

    REALLY EASY!

    Quote:
This game seems unfreindly to new players. Everything is so much influ or prestige.
No, this game is entirely friendly to new players. This game is very easy to learn, you just need to leave any sense of self-entitlement at the door in order to get over yourself when you play. This, for you, may be impossible.

I run an SG just for my own toons, so I can store more salvage. It took me one month of just regular play and SG mode (and the most toons you can use to get the inf bonus) to come up with enough to power a base with full storage. And I make the rent and oodles more, ALL THE TIME! So even a player like you, Graystar Blaster, who undoubtedly has a hard time making and keeping friends in-game, can run a base with no problem. FYI, maybe the attitude of self-importance is why the servers seem empty to you. Have you gotten yourself ignored by that many people already?

    Just lose the laziness.

LotG is pretty much a special case, because its a global enhancement rather than a set bonus so it was coded with a different name, something like "Luck of the Gambler: Recharge Bonus" whereas the 7.5% from Kinetic Crash is IIRC "Huge Recharge Bonus".
Please, don't slot Kin Crash in any attacks you use. As for the "specialness" of LotG, I was unaware of that. So cool!

I wonder if Ben's mom had died on the Island and Ben was seeing her, if Richard would have rejected Ben's "Specialness."
This is why I figured it was always important to the Others that people be buried. Like in season 5 when you hear that it was part of the truce. The only problem comes from season 6, where you see MiB take the form of Richard's wife, who died before he came to the island. From this, Richard should have been more wary of Ben's vision.

edit - Not that this upsets me too much, tiny plot holes like this are bound to pop up no matter how well a series is written. Just one disadvantage of not being able to write your whole story at once.

A question on bonuses as I'm not entirely sure how this works. I believe there is a limit of 5 of a particular set bonus you can get in a build. Are there any exceptions to this rule? If I have 5 + recharge set bonuses and 1 or more LOTG +Global Recharge enhancements will they stack or be ignored?
    If you have five 5% recharge bonuses, and 5 LotG's, you'd gain a total of 62.5% (5*5 plus 5*7.5). If you had one 7.5% bonus and 5 LotG's, you'd only have 37.5% (5*7.5).

Touch of Fear nets ssome nice bonuses with the Abyss set including +Hit Points, recharge and accuracy. Any reasonable slotting for Hibernate fall in that ballpark?

    It's comin together now
I'm just going for clarification here, but when I said slot for regen on it, I meant maybe one Health SO and that's all. Hibernate benefits nearly nothing from recharge due to the phase rules. One green SO will have you back to full health long before your taunts would have worn off. I tend to leave the power as a one-slot power. Leave those other slots for other bonuses elsewhere or for better enhancement values in attacks.

I just got Hibernate today at lvl 35 so I finally tried it out. It's a pretty good save your butt button. But I have only used it solo so far.
Slot it for a little regen, and you should be out of Hibernate before you lose aggro. Taunt right before you use it, to make the most of it.

I know numbers; I can do math. What I'm wondering is if that .75 % mez resistance or whatever tiny token number it might be (stacked with 0% on my blaster, lol) - is that worth the trade off of less damage?

My blaster is just about fully slotted with HO's. So, I don't really save any slots. Is the loss of damage and in some cases accuracy justified by the tiny bonuses?
Well, if the bonuses you're going for are mez resist, then don't bother. None will build up enough to make your blaster live any longer. But since the change to Defiance, you can use a few powers on your blaster while mezzed. Unfortunately, there are no mezz protection bonuses to garner from bonuses, which is what you would really want.

BUT! There are defense bonuses, and if they can't hit you, they can't mez you. Stack up a bunch of ranged defense bonuses, and get weave and hover, and you can keep yourself at range distance (and therefore, at a high defense position).

Worried about having enough inf for those highly coveted IOs? Well, plan out a build in Mids, and sell those HO's you wouldn't need anymore because Frankenslotters will pay good money for those. Just make sure you have a lot of respecs available to pull them out.
  22. Has anyone ever tried doing a collective data-mine to determine the drop rate? Or is 12,000 just a random guess?

I know, I know! It can fear bosses in two quick hits. But let's face it, DM's single target DPS is good enough for the situation already. But in an AV situation, where you won't be able to fear them, Hibernate could come in more handy with their higher to-hit chance, and for those AVs that specialize in Ice's weaknesses.

Considering that you've got both Hoarfrost and Siphon Life, you might not need the extra panic button.
I'd second this. You're soft-capped, and have two heals. That should be plenty. The earlier suggestion of dropping Smite is a bad choice, IMO. Taking all four single-target attacks can turn your Ice/DM into a decent boss killer. Also, since your slotting an expensive build, I'm guessing you have the inf for it. If so, you may consider this frankenslotting for Siphon Life:

2 Acc/Dam Hami's, 1 Heal/End Hami, Doctored Wounds Heal/Rech, Numina's Heal/Rech and a Mako's Dam/Rech. All lvl 50 of course. You don't quite hit the ED cap on Dam, Heal and Rech, but the difference in percent translates to be very little difference at all. And you get great acc and a little end reduc to boot! Enjoy!
