Just a few questions about my new tank

I just rolled a WP/DB tank. I got a neat concept in mind for a man infected by a nasty scratch he got while hiking. It allows him to tap into the earth for fantastic healing and endurance recovery powers while making him very resilient to attacks. On top of this he is able to create extremely sharp swords out of cellulose that is infused into his skin. Anyways, you get the idea that it is a concept toon.

I created this toon before I read any forum posts. I soon realized that I had bit off a bit more than I anticipated. That said, I have decided to stick it out. I mostly duo with a RL friend and pick up the occasional PuG for TFs and whatnot. I have just a few questions:

1. What would be a good toon to fit thematically for my RL friend to create to level together?
2. The build I have worked up rather quickly on the fly has capped all types but Psi and offers great resistance to make up for it. This is somewhat at the expense of my attacks. They seem a little lackluster(at least as far as the numbers go in MIDS) Is this extreme durability worth losing a bit of damage output if I have someone to team with pretty much all the time?

I know I have my work cut out for me with a WP/DB tanker. If you guys can point me in the right direction to make him the best he can be I would really appreciate it.

Tanker + Blaster/Scrapper duos are usually pretty fun. One time a friend and I made did a tank/balster duo where we were both fire/fire. It was a lot of fun.

With the new bonuses to Vigilance, a Defender might not be a bad choice, either. Or, wait for Going Rogue and team a Corruptor with a Tanker.

Also, I posted a good leveling build for a WP/DB Tanker here - having a super, tricked out build is great, but it won't help you Get There.

These are my thoughts on DUO synergy (Having done alot of DUOs)

Scrappers need a defensive boosting Defender (or Controller); They have decent damage, but have alot of room for more defense(survival).

Tankers need an offensive boosting Defender (or Controller); Their survival is very decent, but can get good mileage from debuffs and damage boosts.

Blasters have good synergy with every AT, but IMHO get the most from Controllers. These two ATs don't get in each others way (for the most part, there are exceptions)

Defenders and Controllers; see above.


Villains; sorry, your on your own since I dont play them much at all.

A blaster could be pretty good. And if you want a thematic fit with the concept you made for your tank, maybe something with Archery. Whatever your friend chooses, DO NOT LET HIM GET ENERGY BLAST!

Not that it's a bad set, but as a tanker whose survival depends on proximity to foes, Energy's KB will really make things difficult.
