I think that's taking it to extremes. We're talking about people who wanted limited numbers. There have been plenty of leagues I joined that have started even though they were trying to find more people. No need for crying DOOM.

Johnny's (ill-conceived) argument is that it's not soloing if you use pets (that are your own power). He's not claiming he can do it better, just that what the OP did is not "soloing" by his definition. It's a minority stance, but he's allowed to bemoan it if he like.
Your challenge actually does sound flawed in its reasoning. But don't worry, we all agree Johnny is holding a grudge here. -
Why? Because we want to keep leagues to a size we prefer? It's no different than running a team at a size we prefer.
What if 8 people want a bigger challenge by being limited?
What if 8 people want to try a very specific tactic that requires full team cooperation and planning that random players thrown into the mix aren't going to want to do?
What if you're going for Master of and the person joining doesn't want that?
What angle are we not considering that negates these concerns? -
I was just asking about this in the questions thread. We were running a 8-man Lambda (and only wanted 8) when someone got thrown into our league (as their own team) upon starting. We didn't kick the person since it wasn't there fault, but we were a bit miffed as well.
Suggestion: Make a Lock League feature that prevents others from entering a trial in process (or during the queue).
For those that think the the league leader was being unreasonable, think again. The game doesn't give you any means to avoid the situation if you want a private league. Nothing says you HAVE to take extra league members YOU DIDN'T INVITE. -
If someone wants to have just the minimum size league for a trial, is there any way to keep random players from being placed into the league from the LFG Queue?
The other night I was trying to do an 8 man Lambda in order to help some friends unlock their slots a little faster from iXP. Once we had 8 people, I entered us into the queue, and then noticed that pop-up window read "1 of 9." After entering the trial, we saw a new member to the league in a team all on their lonesome. I'm not the kind of person who would kick a person who actually lucked out by using the LFG Queue, so we split the team up (cutting XP).
So did I forget to click something? -
Quote:Actually, in the set up I had in this post, I used multiple popmenu files to allow the selections to stay up after making a selection, as well as giving an option to go back to a previous menu.No. The popmenu options are a menu selection. When you've made your selection, the menu disappears.

I think 1 per trial/day would be more realistic to ask for than 7 per trial/week. I'm pretty sure the devs would prefer you obtain one guaranteed rare every 4 days, as opposed to being able to get one in one day.
Sure, you'd have to wait all week, but once more content became available, you'd be able to have a lot of tier 3's in a matter of hours.
But I could get on bored with not having the strict 20 hour timer. Sometimes I have mornings to play, sometimes its the evening, I don't want to suffer because my life doesn't completely conform to a 24 hour cylce. -

Quote:Wait, there's been an announced booster with a back pack? Linky?I'd reserve judgement until I actually see the thing. A backpack - singular - is not an accomplishment, especially since that one pack comes with a paid booster. This will be accomplished only when we get at least a small selection of backpacks in the game for free.

Quote:How's it different from taking time to level up and get powers like Phantom Army? It's not. It just requires more effort, which would make it more of an achievement since you can't PL to Lore (not that I've heard of yet).Spending time BAFing to get Lore. How is that different than spending time to get Shivians? It's not.
Though, it is different from Shivans as it's not a TEMP POWER!
Quote:They're both external sources of damage and for most people, Shivians, like Lore pets, are what makes the difference. If I can "solo" GMs with Warworks and pets, anyone can. It's not my feat, my build, or skill, it's the pets.
In my book, unless it's a temp power, it's allowed. Kudos to the OP.

Ok, I'm at a loss here:
I was working on a new menu for Lambda runs in Notepad++. After creating it and taking it for a test run, I ended up getting a game crash. I wasn't sure what the problem could have been, so I restarted the game and decided to just go on my way and come back to the popmenu later.
Then I noticed ALL of my previous popmenus now crash the game. What gives? Has anyone run into this? I hadn't touched the files at all, just the new one I made this morning.
[UPDATE]
Figured it out. Somehow the new file (despite having it's own name and not sharing a similar "title") was locking up popmenus altogether. Moving it out of the folder fixed things up. -
Quote:While Johnny's well known demands for Tankers are a bit misguided, I'm going to have to side with him on this one. If it's damage you're looking to do, you're still that 160% further with a Brute on Rage. It's not like any Brutes using Rage are saying to themselves, "Aw shucks, I wish I didn't have all this extra damage so Rage would look even better!" No, they're saying, "Sheeeeeeeet yeah, 240%, YO!"Yes, Johnny, I know you think tanks should be both the toughest AND most damaging AT in the game. That doesn't change the fact that tanks benefit more from Rage than brutes.
That isn't to say what you said was false, it's just meaningless. Like when Geico says I can save up to 15% or more. You should be in advertising, if you're not already. -
I'd choose Telepathy (from reading minds to controlling thoughts) or Telekinesis.

Quote:All that. If it had all that, I'd buy it. It's what people have been asking for (repeatedly) and would put some life back into being in SGs. Oh, but instead of 20 or so proliferated decorative items, I'd want more around 100.-"Training Room" pack with several different versions of Target-Practice dummies & a Trainer
-"Wardrobe Room" pack with a Tailor, ICON-style customizable mannequins, SG-specific uniforms.
-"Vendor Room" pack with access to the Market, Quartermasters/Vendors, etc.
4. All of those packs would contain a fair amount (I dunno, maybe 20 or so) of new/proliferated decorative items, in addition to the big functional items.
Maybe one could include a "mission door" TPer for the base that although visible to everyone, only works for people who bought the pack. Perhaps that's how all the new functional items for the base would work. You can see the new Tailor in the base, but you don't have access to it unless you have the pack. That isn't particularly unfair to the people who don't have the pack, but it could be a reason for someone who doesn't do base editing to purchase it anyway.
Maybe you wouldn't be able to place those items, but if your SG leader did place them, you'd want to be able to access them, no? Even if YOU didn't, I'm sure plenty of people who hate to base edit would like to use them if they've been placed in the base. All in one shop stops, costume editing? If I could go to the SG instead of tracking around 4-5 zones to get some of these things done, I'd gladly pay $10 to use it.
Making the items in the pack unusable to those who don't own it would incentivize plenty of people to want to buy it. I'm sure the pack could pay for it's production cost as long as the items we're good enough. -

Quote:I think your best options are:I need that cone unfortunately. I am already prone to Blaster lock (having played Brutes almost exclusively first 3 years). I find myself just hammering a boss or lt, and in the back of my mind I am screaming "get on your AoEs, help the team" Rad has one PBAoE (tough cause I did not build to blap, one reg AoE, and the cone. I need all 3 as I shark circle the mob and decide how I want to soften them up for the steamroller.
A) Line your attacks up to KB foes into walls, pillars or corners. You're team will appreciate that your mitigation isn't causing them to chase things down if they're melee.
B) Skip the attacks that have KB, or grab an AoE immobilize that negates KB. OR, team with someone who does have an AoE immob.
C) Let go of your Brute habits, and play as a Blaster. More importantly, play as a smart blaster (see A).
D) And this is the option I had to settle for myself, stop playing blasters if you're just going to always play like a melee toon. -
Quote:There's not exactly a ton of story in the Trials. Cut scenes tell most of it, anyhow. Also, there are parts where communications come in and tell you the loose layout of the trial, but we'll get back to that in a second.a--too chaotic--> most teams run through missions as fast as possible, it's impossible to enjoy the story. People who are familiar with the mission run off and do their thing leaving those who don't to wander around clueless. It's hard to get people to actully do what they're supposed to, and there's somebody who inevitably does the wrong thing and generates a team wipe.
Quote:b--Leadership issues-->usually the leader makes or breaks the team. Pickup groups are particularly bad this way. Often only the leader gets the information which provides story continuity (what's with that? shouldn't everybody get the messages telling us what's going on?) Leaders rarely to never share the important background lore info.
As for leadership, are you doing the LFG queue, or actually forming leagues? If you're league leader isn't asking if anyone new needs the low-down on the trial, then that should be a good sign that maybe they're not up for the job. If you're in the LFG Queue, then I can see why you think there's no time for set up.
Many servers have global channels for forming TF, Raid and Trial groups. Find them and make use of them. They make the experience that much better because most people in those channels enjoy communication as a team tool.
Quote:c--they're not particularly heroic: either you're getting one shotted by the prime villian (unless you're a tank ...and maybe even then...), or it's too easy. Unless you have a key role--like the only person with radiation so you can debuff the AV--you're just another little guy plinking away at the Boss...sometimes you can't even take down the minions in a resonable amount of time. I don't feel heroic... I don't want things to be too easy, but I don't want to die 50x in a row on a mission either. Neither is fun.
Quote:d--lack of strategy-- either players zerg the objective (that's boring to just run right over the top of things), or it's so tough only one strategy works and everything else results in multiple team wipes (which is also boring after you've done it a couple of times).
Also, try joining some Master Of runs, because there's different strategies used on those. As for getting one shotted by the AV too often, try changing YOUR strategy. Most of the AVs are melee, so if you're that squishy, do you best to stay away.
Quote:e--all of the above is un-fun as far as I'm concerned and then I'm required to go through this over and over to get 'must have' materials/xp for endgame character advancement. That's exponentially un-fun. WOW was even more un-fun than COH Raids. -

Quote:Having played Elec/Stone, I can tell you that you'll have fun with it. Adding in Cryo should help a lot as well. So, if I decided to roll along with this theme, what would be some suggestions? I've been considering Electric Armor with Stone Melee, using Whirlwind from Super Speed, the Fire ancillary, and maybe Cryo Judgement. Any thoughts, or suggestions? Not completely locked into this decision, so if I should go with other primaries/secondaries, what exactly, and why do you suggest those?
Alternatively...been considering Earth/Storm Controller, with Fire Mastery as the ancillary. When I envision Captain Planet though, I imagine a Tanker--who also is enormously weak to poisons, etc. IE, Elec. Armor. What do you think?
Alternatively, you could do Elec/Stone/Arctic, grab Reactive for fire damage and go Cryo or Ion (both extending your sets). And whirlwind, of course. -
50 billion? Hmm, I'd probably finish my SG base super labyrinth then hold a contest for people to run through it, and give away tons of prizes. Anything left over after that I guess I'd use for some builds.
Yeah, that's right, Super Labyrinth!
[edit] I originally misread the thread title as "What Would You Do FOR 50B?" I'm glad I reread it, it would have taken quite a while to make a post that fit inside the forum rules for that answer. -
I'm biased, but I like to say /Ice. Make your Tanker a Contranker. It's the ultimate aggro and crowd control combo.
Oh, and IBTDP (in before the Dechs post) -
If you're having occasional issues with endurance, adding more recharge to the mix will only add to the problem. Personally, I'd go Cardiac and then go Ageless.
