  1. Someone more in tune with the game tech will probably give a better answer, but if I understand your description right, you've apparently got a minor lag problem. Animation is completing before the results of the "role" are displaying. So even though the game decided you would take a hit, it didn't time it to the animation.

I see this often and find it highly annoying when sledgehammer dude, which my blaster killed, seemingly at 20 paces, still manages to slam me as if he were next to me.

That sounds slightly like the whole An'Qiraj gate opening event in WoW. Except yours sounds like it can do more. I wonder if instead of cloth, we could turn in salvage for recyclables for the project.

I'd like to make better use of the Portal Corp. In the various mission stories we hear about crews that have preceeded us, investigating other dimensions. Why not set up a sidegame where we get to be the "first" to explore the zone around a portal terminus, applying some of the other things mentioned in this thread like cryptography, as well as archeology (ala Doc Sampson). It makes sense to use heroes to send into the unknown. On the red side, I'm sorry, I don't know it well enough to state a counterpart. (And yes, I know this all sounds like a certain other MMO in development, which may or may not see the light of day)

I'm waiting for the problems to begin, the other shoe to drop. So far, I've been amazed at how powerful he is, tearing through mobs like a hot knife through butter. Of course, the teen levels and end drain will soon be upon him, but for the moment, I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Regarding the discussion of electrical blasters/defenders. I did electrical once with a buddy. We build both ours for full team action, meaning we ramped up their end drain abilities, to some extent at the expense of their damage. Having two on the team was crazy good. We were draining large mobs and letting the others mop up. The NPC opponents were often running because they literally had no fight left in them.
  5. first thought that comes to mind with that MA/DA build is the end drain the first 20 levels. I've worked scrappers alot (my main, Ace, is a MA/SR), but when I experimented with a DA I ended up wiping him because the end drain seemed so severe. Of course this was way back, and might have been before all the crafting options that might have helped.
  6. What are the least used class/power1/power2 combinations both blue and red sides? Why (impossible to play well, boring to play, etc.)? And what would you do to improve the quality?

Oh, and has anyone ever deliberately tried to build teams of these weakest links to see what can or cannot be achieved?
  7. with Issue 17, Crafting disciplines will be offered. Enchanters, for example, will be able to craft magic carpets. Not to be outdone, Engineers will be able to hotwire Freeks for their own ride in style.

Better hurry. In a year or so, it won't be the Barrens anymore.

If I can't get a team anymore, I'd regretfully hang up the goggles and wait for either Star Trek Online or DCUO.

  10. I didn't team with one, but I did have a villain pop into a hero mission once. Crazy thing was, we rounded the corner and there he was, like some lost puppy staring around trying to find his way. We could talk to him using local, and all had a good laugh. And it was a couple of years back.

    I can see that.

On the other hand, Reagan was legendary for his ability to placate his opponents. Just sayin'...

(BTW, the comic, is that Martian Manhunter?)
  12. Lets see...magical, mythical, history. yep. that's the Power Rangers. (they're history to me)

But seriously, have you picked a specific theme? Might be easier to consider choices and details for the others if you've picked one.

My former sidekick, who has left for Shiny Online, and I once did American Presidents. George Washington was an Axe Tank (cherry tree myth), as was Abe Lincoln (rail splitter), roughrider Teddy Roosevelt was a gun blaster. I can't recall what his Thomas Jefferson was, probably something with gadgets. But I'm sure there's more potential. U.S. Grant with a saber, Ronald Reagan, known for pushing Star Wars as as Kheldian...

My mastermind is a crazy woman who thinks she's Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, and the game let me call one of her pets Scarecrow, and another one Tin Man (she only has two so far, but I'm hoping to round them out with Lion, Glinda, Oz, and ultimately Toto). Since Scarecrow is a pretty well-known Batman villain, I'm either lucky, or the limit on pet names is kinda random/arbitrary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You really should have that looked at by your doctor.

(and I agree, blue caves would be bad. I would hope that any thought of an Oranbega expansion would include an overhaul to caves, and additional CoT goon types to add some zest back into what many consider a tired, annoying, overused group)
  15. well, as has been often mentioned, if they could finally find the way to drop the war walls, we'd have an integrated enviroment.
I'd like to see more content to bring us back onto the streets. Back in 2004, a large part of our blue-side effort was done on the streets. Now I see people darting past the street thugs to get to the next instance or building. It seems we move more an more toward an immobile state. Street fights and missions in the next zone over, then came radio missions and we focused on instances within the zone, now AE buildings where we just stand around a few paces apart from everyone else.

On a story side, I'd like to see the businesses of Paragon City fleshed out. Yeah, we have Crey and its story is pretty well developed, but what about all those other generic buildings throughout the whole city? Mostly we get generic hallways, generic pawn shops, etc. What are the other big businesses? What's their stories? Even a few known, like King Garment, are just sketchy. This could also provide opportunity for introducing new internal maps.

I think a big expansion possibility that someone else mentioned previously, was to build an expansion around Oranbega, the underground city. We've seen many pieces, but the indication seems to be that its huge. The drawback to this thought is that it would mean more Circle of Thorns, and most folks I've played with are sick of the Circle.

Of course, there are the ever popular Moonbase and Sea City (Atlantis).

  17. Downed War Walls would be nice, but there are some sections of the city that look like they should retain containment. I'm thinking of places like Dark Astoria and the RWZ.

In addition, if you look at the city map, there are a few locations between functioning zones that look like spaces to drop a new zone. They just connect the dots for zone-to-zone connections. Supposedly, we'd just travel through the unnamed zone. But if it is their intention to expand at any point in these spots, they can't drop the War Walls there.

Any War Walls that they decide to finally drop, it would be fun to remove them with some animation of implosions, like dropping a stadium or old Vegas casino IRL.

To anyone who thinks there will be or wants a new "Spy" archetype... please, elaborate, what would this archetype actually DO?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking about that too. We already have Banes, Stalkers, /Devices Blasters...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe they sneak around peeking at stuff through binoculars? Taking notes?

And occassionally calling in airstrikes or raids.

It would be an interesting twist.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just speculating, but possibly a new kind of mission altogether. There's been past chatter that the mission types are a bit stodgy. I'd envision new spy missions as akin to the old Thief video game, where you do a lot through subterfuge, rather than just invis run/teleport to a goal and take it (or kill/arrest it)

There's could also be counter-intelligence missions, toppling defense, sowing discord, perhaps something that affects the status of a zone.
  19. Stooge powerset.

BABs has already said that he has no plans, simply because it's a very complexly-animated system. Having to make 6 different sets of the same animation doesn't sound like the easiest thing to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's too bad, though I understand BAB's concerns.

I was just thinking melee staff could "easily" have another skin as a spear. Since we already have Valkyrie, a spear wielder, as part of the lore, it would make a certain sense to add it.
  23. Still learning the red side. Is there a robot, like the Malta Chronos one? A metal themed group like Goldbrickers seems to lend to that possibility.

I understand why the ghost viewpoint, I was thinking more like an undead or cursed immortal. But your mystically power GMs is a valid point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Glad to know I've got the support of Midas to add Midas into the game!

I'm also REALLY looking for some more community input/critique. If you've got an idea for a Giant Monster for the zone, or something else to give the zone some more 'spice' to it, then I'd LOVE to hear it.

And yeah... I'm bumping my own topic after requesting the critique.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can a Giant Monster be created that isn't a single being? For example, referencing Lusca again, its really 9 targets: 8 tentacles and 1 head.
Apply that to your island. Lets say, using your interesting conquistadors. What if the "Giant Monster" is a squad of conquistadors? 8 elite guards to take down before you tackle the "head" honcho, some Cortez/Pizzaro type wielding dark powers (instead of squid ink)
Or perhaps instead of a cluster GM, a triggered event could bring an "armada" of conquistadors swarming the island, possibly boiling up from the pit, in similar vein to the Ritki invasions. Your description did say cursed conquistadors returned in droves to the island, so there should be a lot that could appear at once.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And why in the hell not!? That would be awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No offense, I simply don't seeing them hauling one around. Monsters typically deal with the arcane, and the unknown, which is why I think the Legacy Chain could have a REALLY nice Giant Monster... Perhaps a Chimera, of some kind? I think all Villains would love a chance to do battle with the 'Legacy Beast'.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A Chimera would be very nice. How do you envision it? Some sort of modification of the arachnid wire frames? or a humanoid version? I can't recall any 4-legged creatures in game, so I'm guessing there's no pure 4-legged skeletons to build from. (Why I don't know. You'd think there'd at least be guard dogs with some of the more militant groups)
