Reaching out from beyond the grave

Having recently resubscribed, my spider-sense started tingling in a couple of missions recently. Something different?

When you defeat an enemy who is in the middle of an attack animation, that attack does not damage you, hit or miss -- or so my memory held. But now, the damage seems to get through even after the enemy has fallen. (ex: legacy chain earth mystics who hurl boulders at you-- a long animation time, so mid-attack defeats are common)

Is my memory faulty? I seem to remember shrugging off direct hits from rockets and chunks of asphalt without skipping a beat.

Someone more in tune with the game tech will probably give a better answer, but if I understand your description right, you've apparently got a minor lag problem. Animation is completing before the results of the "role" are displaying. So even though the game decided you would take a hit, it didn't time it to the animation.

I see this often and find it highly annoying when sledgehammer dude, which my blaster killed, seemingly at 20 paces, still manages to slam me as if he were next to me.

its called DoT, as in Damage over Time.

So u still get hurt after the opponent is dead.

Say fire...., u get burned, u can dump the iron to the trash, pour fresh water on ur hands, but if its burned, burning will go on, and pain will remain.

I don't think that's what he's talking about. The attacks he's referring to aren't DoT. He's referring to attacks that do a single tick of damage, where the animation starts, but the critter is then killed before it finishes. And, yeah, I seem to recall that such attacks didn't use to do damage. Perhaps it's another consequence of the same AI changes that currently have the STF repairmen jumping the gun.

This. Ignore the DoT and lag theories.
