Quote:Hey Patrick looks like we're in similar situations, play-time-wise - I'll add your Global, you can add me if you want @Cougarific (Freedom). But with all the wierd times I work each week at my job I felt I needed to find a server that had more of a cross-section of people who were playing at more and different times of the day/night too. (Freedom)
I usually play between 1a-4a ET weeknights, then whenever on weekends. Would be nice to have a regular in-game friend who's on at the same odd hours as I. Usually it's just me and the convicts. -

Quote:In that case maybe you should go to the Mastermind Guides, there are a bunch of pet-oriented binds and macros to be found there.Ok thanks what i was wanting t do was make a convo between my pets and me since when i get bored i like to mess around with my pets for example i make them talk to each other or emote.
Choff has a guide called Petsay Fun that sounds right up your alley. -
Quote:Player Guides section, Guide to Binds, those are linkies.Im not sure if there is a guide on this or not but i would like to know how to use macros i made one tanks to a mentor of mine but it was an easy line to say plus an emote which he told me what to write
If you describe what you want to do, someone here will probably be able to give you the precise Macro you're looking for. -
Quote:O come on, you know how it works around here - ask an actual question, get 8 to 12 actual responses in under 5 minutes.I see that whaleboy has made his first post. Given the responses, it will probably be his last.
Post a rant (in the Player Questions area) and get a fistful of mild snark. -
Quote:Send a Personal Message to Leandro (here on the Forums), he organizes regular Hamis and other TFs/Raids on Freedom, has a Facebook page for them and everything. Its going to be hard to move to a new server from Justice cause we did 3-4 hami raids a week. Doing about 2 a week with some leaders missing right now. two ship raids this week already.
He'll send you regular invites via Facebook for whatever he has lined-up that week.
FYI I started on Liberty server, but moved to Freedom 'cause I work nights and play at odd hours so need a larger cross-section of time-zoney players. But Liberty was a wonderful, very friendly, very supportive server for me as a newb. -
I think the first piece of advice posted here is the best & bottom line: get some help.
Not only is this a multi-player game (duh), it also has the most helpful, polite community around.
If it was me, I'd just hit up some 50s with Tells, explaining that you're new and having trouble with a mission and would they mind helping out for a few?
With the new SuperSideKicking system, they'd be [your level] +5, giving them some higher-level powers that could REALLY help move things along.
Don't underestimate the helpfulness of the players here.
Join the Mentor Project (linked above), and use the N P C global (New Player Channel) to ask for help - you WILL get it, I guarantee. -

Quote:This is exactly what I would do - give the GF a Blaster to begin with, as not only are they relatively simple, they're also loads of fun.Remember folks, with Praetoria, we can recommend a mixed alignment duo.
Well, you want to give your gf something easy: Tab and Shoot. So, a Blaster.
Then, you want an AT to keep her alive and safe: Defender, Controller, Corrupter, MM.
Then you roll a Defender and focus on keeping her from faceplanting as much as possible to keep the fun-level up and frustration-factor low. -
Quote:The only Developer-sanctioned external add-on is the Vidiotmaps Map Pack available from Badge-hunter.com (you have to register to d/l).
Another thing that I was thinking was is there any add ons for COH like through curse.com or anything like that?
It is a VERY USEFUL addition, as it adds all sorts of useful info to your in-game maps (badge & plaque locations, enemy groups and their levels in-zone, etc.) Just FYI it's a beefy download & install, multiple Gigs if I remember right.
But there are other helpful websites and *external* tools you'll come across as you play and read the forums. CoHPlanner & Mid's Hero Builder are just two that spring to mind.
p.s.Quote:I am pretty sure that I can find most if not all of the answers to my questions in some of the websites you all have suggested but I kind of like getting perspectives from anyone who will give it and some of the questions have multiple answers where one answer may not be the best for me. -
Quote:My NA client is finished! sorry for bumping this thread so many times guys just like to put in a lot of prep before starting a game like this so what server should i go for? are there any SG leaders reading this who are geared towards helping Newbies if so i would love to join your SG thanks again guys for all the help and all
Server choice is always a prickly pear.
Freedom is usually the busiest. Busiest can sometimes equal most-packed-with-idiots, but usually not.
Virtue is also busy. Virtue is the unofficial RolePlaying server - but non-roleplayers are welcome.
The other servers are quieter, and some people prefer it that way - usually people in active SGs who prefer a smaller stable of good friends they know, to a larger pool of random Pick-up players.
I recommend starting on Freedom or Virtue only because you'll be able to find help that much quicker if you need it (on the N P C (New Player Channel) for example).
FYI on the Server Select screen the servers are listed in the following order:
-Server you were on last
-Least populated server
.
.
.
-Most populated server
p.s. Yes, as Desi_Nova says, don't worry too much about getting into an SG right off the bat.
Join and use the Mentor Project's N P C channel, and when you come across a particularly helpful/friendly Mentor, ask them if they belong to an SG and if so, are they recruiting?
p.p.s. I'm on Freedom, my global name is @Cougarific, and I'm a Mentor in the Mentor Project. But I play odd hours as I work a night shift (usually on btwn 1a-4a weeknights). Please look me up if you end up on Freedom and I'll help you out as much as I can.
p.p.p.s. Adding new questions to your own thread is not considered "bumping" here. True bumps are frowned on (not adding anything new to the thread), but asking tons of questions here is ABSOLUTELY NOT (frowned on). -
They should make a zone with floating rock islands and otherworldly denizens and maybe you'd use like...force geysers or something to move around between the floating islands.
That'd be awesome. -
Quote:Welcome!
I have always been the type of gamer that grinds as fast and as hard as I possibly can to make it to the highest lv but I plan on changing my gaming style to slow and steady.
Remember, CoH isn't a game about BEING a super-hero (or villain), it's about BECOMING a super-hero (or villain).
But it seems you've already embraced the "it's not the goal, it's the journey" mentality, more power to ya!
One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet - if you like to Team, take a second to set your Teaming Status Flag when you log-in.
Hit the Team tab on the top of the Chat-box area, there's a drop-down menu there, Select Looking for Team, or Looking for Any...or if you're gonna be shopping, upgrading your enhancements, etc. and don't want to be disturbed, select Not Looking for Team (just don't forget to change it later if you finish your stuff and want to team).
Players who build and lead teams regularly *DO* use the status indicators to hit-up people flagged as "Looking for..." first. -
Where do babies come from?

Top-line Edit: Nevermind folks, my PM went thru on the third try. Thanks anyway. A mod can Delete this if they'd like.
Guys I need to send a quick note to Avatea but for some reason trying to Send a PM crashes my browser.
Does anyone know the actual email address so I can use Outlook instead? Or does it not work that way? -
Got there around 2:10am and found a half-dozen happy-looking folks near the bar but the DJ had called it quits and the rest of the place was tumbleweeds plus the staff was giving me teh stinkeye.
The space was awesome tho - the basement bar was a balcony overlooking a dancefloor another story down.Funky lights 'n smoke still sifted up from the floor below.
And there was still fun to be had at the Art bar upstairs.
Sorry I missed the party heroes - maybe next time. -
Quote:I've never hated working the late shift more.First and most important. I met War Witch. She hugged me.
Avatea is really tall. And she was giving away stuff. Thou shalt not give her or her mods grief anymore.
Did I mention the tons of swag that was also free?
Hugs from War Witch... ::sigh::

But 'twas done downstairs so I went up to the Art bar for a few.
So sorry I missed the fun heroes.

I'm 6'4" coulda been like Hey Stretch and been golden... -
James, Venture - you think anybody will still be there if I show up after work around 2a? The note says it goes 'til 3a.
Quote:S'funny in the Announcements discussion thread Avatea specifically said there'd be plenty of nametags this time.especially without name tags - I didn't really get to speak with anyone because I didn't know who anyone was. -
Early arrivers should be stumbling back to their apartments by now - I'll be hoping some vampyrii will still be hanging from the rafters when I stop by the After Party after work...
But any tales or photos to regale us at this point? -
Quote:Crud I shoulda been checking in here more regularly.
New!NCsoft After Hours Party
If you're looking for a spot to break out some late night fun, stay after the Meet & Greet or join us starting at 11 p.m. (until 3 a.m.) when we morph the event at Good Units to the NCsoft After Hours Party. Socialize with NCsoft and dance to into the early hours of the morning to New York's hottest live DJ mixes. (Suggested dress is upscale casual.)
I'm at work 'til 1a and don't feel appopriately dressed so will have to run home and change before the After-Hours Party.
But I'll definitely be there at some point before 3a.
For those worried about dress code: I'm very familiar with the Hudson Hotel, been there many times, rang in the New Year there one year.
It's right near Lincoln Center so Friday night you're gonna have a ton of people dressed for the opera/ballet/orchestra. But it's also a hotel, so you're gonna have tourists in shorts 'n sandals wandering around too.
In general it's a pretty hip NYC hangout (there are other bars upstairs (lobby level), and you're gonna see a lot of the young/beautiful set in hip/expensive clothing up there.
Jeans, collared shirt, dress shoes is fine. But I wouldn't do sneakers or t-shirts unless you're sure you're not gonna be leaving the hall. You'll probably get velvet-roped upstairs if you're not looking at least semi-chic.
p.s. IMHO this is a great call for a gathering-place. The Hudson's a really fun place to hang out - I was a regular there back in the day. Be sure to check out the holograms hanging from the ceiling in the lobby, and the Library bar for its 30-foot tall bookshelves and antique (but playable) pool table.
NOTE: the Ocho posted a pic of the front door - what you can't see is an open-flame torch burning bright to the right of the entrance. With no exterior signage, just look for the flame to I.D. the Hudson. -
