  1. I think it'd be fascinating... the last couple powers need to be made more icy/windy, less electric, though, to avoid stepping on Electric Melee for stalkers.

Recommend the OP should PM a moderator and ask them to move this to Suggestions and Ideas.
  2. It's likely that the event is 11 am to midnight, but it'd be nice to get clarification.

It's obvious that the cases of 'orange' were caused by a global search-and-replace they meant to only turn the text from Red color to Orange color, but also changed words that end in "red" like "ordered" into "ordeorange"
  3. Witch Lace glove texture is missing from Robes top. It should be there, as Witch Lace chest is available under Robes.

I can't find Witch Leather gloves at all, shouldn't there be gloves that match the Witch Leather set?

As for the top having a lower resolution, I have that for every single top (chest texture only is lower resolution) but only in the Tailor. It's been that way for several issues.
  4. I love these in character documents about new game features. I think it's wonderful and you should do as many of them as possible.

This one in particular is really well written and fun. Thanks!
  5. Objective: Villains have lower merit rewards across the board. Low level hero task forces have high merit rewards. People are massively fighting Winter Lords again. Level 50s who finished all their arcs still have the new arcs to do, and can also do all the old arcs in Ouroborus for merits. Soloing is more highly rewarded. Everyone underestimates the value of random rolls. Merits seem to work for some psychologies as excessive motivation and for others as demotivation.

Subjective: I've enjoyed merit rewards on my heroes. My villains haven't gotten much of anywhere with them. Villains need higher merit rewards for something, in particular for the unlockable contacts' arcs. The time needed to unlock the contact should be included in the value of the arc for merit purposes. The UI feedback for diminishing returns is also really desperately needed; you should see what TF/trial you are diminished on and how long till you can do it again. The UI for random rolls should also include the option to see the list of recipes the roll includes. Pooling merits per account sounds like a great idea to me, and I think the Vault should be usable for this. Send a character to the Vault to store merits there for all same side, same server, same account supers. Possibly eliminate the 'same server' requirement so you can have all your villains share and all your heroes share.

I don't think it's a good idea to pool merits across hero/villains because it would reduce the pressure to bring villain rewards up to measure and make it so people just played their heroes to outfit their villains which is really perverse.

There's also no reason to force the lower level characters to take recipes their level or lower as merit rewards. If you get 200 merits at level 20 you should be able to get a level 50 IO from that if you want.

Further edit. The more I thought about it after making this post... the more I like the idea of changing the name of pain domination.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really think they should be renamed (following the logic of the renaming of "sonic buff" to "sonic resonance") "Cold Comfort" and "Pain Management"

    [ QUOTE ]

One of the little items that has always bugged me about the corrupter power set, and then a defender power set has been the naming of Cold Domination. It sounds like a control power set, something a DOMINATOR would use.

    So here's my suggestion.

Rename the Cold Domination and Pain Domination sets to be Cold Corruption and Pain Corruption

This opens up the cold domination and pain domination names to actually be used for Dominator archtypes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I also always thought this.

My feedback after playing 8 levels of Lemniscathe, my new AR/pain corrupter: it's not bad. It is very much like empathy on a defender, but you have smaller numbers so it really does feel a bit like pain management, where you want to 'stay ahead of the pain' and give painkiller before it really starts hurting.

I was duo'ing with my friend's brute (stone/wp) that she turned off experience at the end of level 14 so she could get an arc from Shelley Percy. She sidekicked my new level 2 and we did the Mask Maker mission. A level 10 or 11 widow joined us.

I was not able to keep them healed and shoot much, but, we did finish the mission eventually. Vahz are tough It was very much like, say, an illusion/empathy controller who took 2 heals and spectral wounds, I suppose.

a LoTG 7.% Recharge currently goes for around 50 Million. For a 20 Merit Random Roll to be worth taking a chancce on, there would need to be AT LEAST 50% odds that that roll will be worth a minimum of 10% a LoTGs sale cost in Inf, or 5 Million. It's an unfortunate fact that the VAST Majority of drops in Pool C arent worth anything near that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't have the math right.

There has to be about a 50% chance that the total value of all 12 random recipes will be worth the same as a LOTG for people to be motivated to take the random rolls.

(This is discounting the opportunity cost of waiting till you have 250 merits rather than getting a random recipe everytime you have 20, but let's ignore that for now)

A 50% chance that the total of all the 12 recipes will be worth 1 LOTG. Several of the other recipes in the 30s range (remember, you can choose your level range) regularly go for 7-15 million, especially the procs usable in aoe powers, the Numinas and Miracle Uniques go for quite a bit more, probably around 50 or 60 percent of a LOTG alone.

There's also a nonzero chance that you would, with 12 random rolls, get multiple LOTG or other valuable procs or uniques. If you have a 50% chance of making less than half what one LOTG is worth, but also a 5% chance of making triple, that means some people will go for the randoms - like playing the lottery.
  9. 30 days is not very long at all.

Even if you play the character 12 hours a day every single day - that still means they'll get the 30 days logged out badge in 2 months. Without you doing anything other than logging them out at the same place every night.

Alternatively you can get all your characters a badge every month. It's 3 times faster than veteran rewards.

    30 days seems perfectly fine.
  10. best solution I can think of:

    - Make the halloween costume prizes occasionally give out a 13 hour use costume instead of a 13 day real time costume. Or if that's too much, a 1 hour 13 minute use (to stay with the numerical theme). Then everyone will have a costume or two if they want it but the people who go to the show can use it all the time/all characters, everyone else it's only per character/temporary - but usable year round if you save it.

    Good idea?

Hopefully, the helmets will be male and female.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No.. Only the Widow helm is available for females.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am pretty sure this is incorrect.

I'm not sure we're even getting the Widow helm with the veteran reward - the text lists only red wolf, wolf, crab and mu helms, though widow is shown in the visual (but they're recycled visuals, which we already know were not glanced at or updated, from the pictures of the old blackwand look). But I know that at least the mu and crab helms are available for females, I have seen those 2 on pre-order villains.

I am looking forward to these helms for my additional costumes on arachnos soldiers and widows I also have a few characters who would love having the ghost slaying axe AND sands of mu

Had reported last week on the test server that the Mini 2 and Mini 3 skirts have the slits on the front and back now instead of the sides so that the character's underwear is clearly visible. Checked today's update and sure enough now the same issue is happening on the live server. Don't know if there are any other clothes items this happens on. I have bugged it on both servers. FYI

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks for the report. We looked into it here and have not been able to reproduce it. PM me with the server and character name of a character affected by this and we'll try and track it down.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is odd because Lighthouse on the 12th posted that
"Just to follow up on this, our testing team saw the same problem with skirts and has logged it into our bug tracking system for resolution. Thanks very much for the report! "

(look at the skirt post by him in the Community digest)

More than 32 million characters created – that’s 4 times the population of New York City!

Players have spent a combined 292 centuries playing City of Heroes and City of Villains

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's an average just under 8 hours per character.

As for custom missions, we will be able to pick the map and the villain group. Not the specific spawns. So you can choose Banished Pantheon or Carnies or Circle of Thorns, but you won't be able to specify Masks or Illusionists or Behemoths. And it seems reasonably likely that what you'll choose is more like sewer, office, cave, or warehouse - not special or specific maps (though I hope they'll allow a special map at the end of the arc).

It also might be that they'll limit the number of times custom missions will be resettable - maybe that's the source of the rumor about all mission resets being limited? If you only get to play 3 custom missions a week, for example?
  14. How about adding a 20 slot package for $60? ($3/slot)

    And then a 50 slot package for $125? ($2.50/slot)

That'd help bring down the $1000+ price to a more reasonable level...
  15. The "hacker" "disco" "desire" patterns that are "missing" - those are part of the veteran reward "belly shirts" - they just aren't named that. But they are still supposedly some kind of "belly shirts". Not a bug...
  16. a fairly easy 'fix' to the imbalancing factor of fears and confuses - put a little protection in some pool power buffs.

I suggest maneuvers gets a little confuse protection (enough to counter one application of a single target confuse such as Deceive), because leadership-led maneuvering seems like it would keep you organized enough not to be easily confused; and tough should get the same amount of fear protection (enough to protect you from one application of a fear power such as Touch of Fear). Tough guys don't scare easy

Approximately the same amount of protection that's in Acrobatics vs hold would be fine.

Since these are non travel power pools, and PvP'ers like to take two travel powers, there would be a sizable tradeoff for taking both.

Alternatively or in addition, give sonic Clarity (and/or the similar thermal buff, Thaw) a protection level from fear and/or confuse (maybe clarity gets confuse and thaw gets fear - protecting from being 'frozen' with fear ). That way villains and heroes both would get some protection at higher levels from an ally.

So it looks like the secret to getting heavies is, beat down those bosses and LTs quickly and mercilessly, and you are more likely to get heavies as the Human Threat rapidly outpaces the Rikti Threat.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Thanks. Until I read your explanation, I couldn't make any sense of that. Too many moving pieces.

Do I have this right? Let me construct a hypothetical example. It's the middle of the night on a nearly empty server, so only 3 people respond to an attack, and all 3 are within 30ft of each other. They have an accumulated threat level of 3.0.

So when the bombing phase ends, they'll draw up to 3.0 points' worth of Rikti. 9 minions. 2 lieutenants and 4 minions. 3 lieutenants and 2 minions. Or 4 lieutenants. But for this example, let's say that it's not that last one. So if they kill everything that spawns in their area except for one minion, and they get it done in 5 seconds, then at the end of the 6th second, they'll still have a threat level of 3.0, the Rikti will have a threat level of 0.5 or 1/6th as much, and so it'll spawn a Heavy Assault Suit? Did I get that right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty sure not. the difference between 3 and 0.5 is 2.5. you'd just get another couple Rikti. "ratio" is 1/6 but DW said "difference" which means subtraction.
  18. There's several secondaries Controllers could get other than cold and thermal. There's traps, poison, and dark.

My guess is that Controllers will get plant/poison.

I also guess that defenders will get AR/traps.

I have no idea on scrappers, though.

And, I think mastermind /empathy seems very likely.

    ice/ice stalkers and sr brutes sound reasonably likely;

maybe scrappers will get /ninjitsu but what primary could they be given? they already have katana and martial arts... psychic melee?

tankers are likeliest to get the electric sets, though the point about no self heal is very well made - maybe scrappers will get those instead.

it's fun to think about I have been wanting these things for a while.

I'm going to guess that the new blaster secondary will be a psychic manipulation, based partly on the dominator secondary plus the blasts replaced by mind controls (sleep for tier 1, hold for the bigger blast, aoe sleep for the aoe blast)...

similarly I guess for the dominators it'll be earth control and some earth manipulation.
  19. Someone needs to build a data maintenance tool for Castle to use so duplicate powers don't turn into a maintenance issue.

It seems like it'd be pretty straightforward, flag differences other than color/sound/animation in supposedly 'identical' powers for his attention.

I would keep asking for exceptions, but it's probably useless, so - at this point, I suppose, "don't bother with power customization, it'd have been nice but obviously REALLY isn't worth it anymore" is the best attitude to take.

After all the game is very enjoyable as it is now. And we will all benefit from new game activities more than simply a visual flavor addition.
  20. I'd say raising the drop rate of the (datamined) 3 or 4 most expensive Pool C recipes might be a good start.

I see nothing really wrong with this change. You won't have more than a couple of people drop in the taskforce, and a reasonable taskforce team can usually take on opponents for a team 2 larger (that's still easier than the highest-difficulty most teams run on). The few times that fails, it's not that much worse than now, when if enough people drop you can't take out the ending Archvillain. If you end up with just 2 people left at the end of Positron's tf but 6 on the team, and can't tackle the mission, try to find another time the 2 of you can meet up and complete it, in a week or so, most of the other teammates will probably have quit the tf

So, in essence, I don't see any problems being anymore than infrequent. People logging out and not quitting and being gone won't mess up task forces that badly, just make them a little harder and take a little longer.

The drops problem for pool C recipes for villains is a bit worse. Maybe they could divide pool C recipes back to being Story Arc rewards as well, or give them out for at least the Villain Ouroboros taskforces? Maybe figure out which ones sell for more/less typically in the Black Market and set the Black Market highest 12 as Task Force rewards, the rest as Villain Story arc rewards?

That reminds me. She wants to go Frostfire... again. She likes the slides. You think doing a 3+ hour taskforce is rough? Trying sliding on the ice slides for 1/2 hour to entertain a six year old.

My son also learned some amount of how to read in order to play games. He was already reading when we got CoH, but he figured out how to read well enough to understand the instructions to a bunch of flash games I let him play when he was 4 or so

Now he's 11 and CoH is too boring for him. He likes Roblox and making silly cartoons like on YouTube.

Flame sounds very sweet, makes me wish I had a daughter too I especially loved "Takes Care of Pets" the mastermind and the story of how she types "ty" when she sees her name cause the team likes it
  22. on Live - Male - pants. Selecting "samurai tsubo suneate" for boots makes one foot disappear!

The foot that is visible doesn't look very much like the samurai tsubo suneate boots for tights, or kilts/shorts, either...
  23. 1) the workaround for the inner veil color is the 'copy colors across all costume parts' click thing at the bottom, it changes to whatever you clicked... then unclick it and set other colors individually.

    2) I'd like more stuff like this, please, lots more. You will really do better to put more items in each pack as that will get more people to buy it. This pack definitely needed pants with matching lacy details to the fancy coat and skirt; it also definitely needed a cummerbund; and it needed the veil Psyche got along with the Cinderella hairstyle one. Also it would've been nice if it included some lace tights to wear under the bridal skirt and/or a legs version of the bridal top to wear under your skirt, especially one that continued down to a matching lace tights on the boot section. But go ahead and add that bit for everyone, not just those who bought the set, just add it

    3) I think it is probably a bug that females can currently get the tux jacket with its cape-tails and also get a veil or a cape. might want to eliminate that option before too many people take it.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Just wanted to add that your experience closely mirrors my own with Defenders. I can solo on Heroic(that's using my 50 FF/Eng or 50 Storm/Psi) but it is slooow in comparison to my Scrapper, Controller or Tank.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you to you and the others who've echoed my experiences. As Poobah said, it's nice to know I'm not the only one having this experience.

I also have had the problem with Electric secondary in particular of running out of endurance before everything's defeated. If nothing else, boosting the damage of the Electric attack powers for the defender would at least help those benighted defenders. I have a 23 dark/elec defender who struggles to solo even blue spawns (one level lower than heroic) if they have any energy resist or defense at all. It takes a while, but eventually they're at half life and he's at zero endurance.

I don't do much controlling, but my controllers have much less trouble, even the /ff one. I prefer defenders because I like aoe blasting more than holding when on teams... it's as silly as that. I realize with the controller I'm doing more to defend my team, and probably even more damage than a defender, but cones and PBAoE blasts are just more fun for me in teams! Holds are boring So that's the deep down reason I play defenders - buff/debuff n blast is my preferred playstyle, that's all.

what I like most: offensive buffs! hurray for kinetic. If I can speed up attacks, make em hit more often, and increase damage for my team, I'm very happy. I don't really care if the damage/hit increase comes as a debuff to the enemy defenses or a buff to my team, it's all the same effect of making my team's offense stronger, that's what I like best.

Second most: seeing my damage hit a whole bunch of opponents at a time. I love my aoes. Targeted aoe's are the loser, for some reason; cones and pbaoe's seem more fun somehow. I love /dark because of the tentacles and the damage cone, a great 1-2 combo. I also really like the psy tornado - even though it's targeted - because of the knockdown. aoes with secondary status effects are great, those tentacles and the falling over are so much fun. Irradiate as a pbaoe is good too, especially since it's also making everything easier to hit!
