My 'Go-to' character is my Fire/Kin/Stone. No matter the sittuation its got S/L soft cap and with a FS capped dmg. Besides its always fun to run up to some of the AV's on the STF and tank em while everyone freaks out as my HP bounces around as the teams im on try for the Mo badge. The LGTF is always a blast and with this toon im almost garantueed a spot on teams. Heck its my most heavly invested in toon with perma Hasten Perma Earth's Embrace and the def this toon pushes it almost reminds me of my 2nd favorite toon my Claws/SR, the F/K/Stone just pushes out dmg in AoE quicker otherwise the scrapper would be number 1 in my book. But i just like lots of orange numbers and the ticks fire pushes always catches my attention.

Quote:The idea of haveing Ice Melee on a scapper is that Ice Melee is mainly a control Primary and pairing is with a secondary like SR would make a tank. Just the though of it makes me kinda tingly. EM on the other hand would need alot of work because it works for Stalkers and Brutes and Tanks but only brutes have a comparable dmg output to scrappers and even then without a 50% fury bar Scrappers take the lead and with EM's high dmg it would almost be overkill on a scrapper heck my BS/Regen can land crits for 2500 and my EM/SR stalker does that comeing out of hide so on a scrapper i could see 2-3k hits from EM witch would be massive overkill.I have some proliferation suggestions and I'd like your thoughts on them. I wanted to roll a character a certain way and found out that I couldn't. Here are some of my suggestions:
Defender:
Fire Blast (secondary)
Thermal Radiation (primary)
Scrapper:
Ice Melee (primary)
Energy Melee (primary)
Thoughts? Any other powersets that haven't been proliferated already that you think should be?
Discuss!
The defender Primary and Secondary have been talked about on thier respective fourms and like you most want them and hope for a quick prolification.
If i wasnt so lazy i would post a link to where 1 of the devs said eventually all sets would be prolificated to thier counterpart but with GR comeing out i have a feeling the Prolifications of powersets will start to slow down to almost a hualt since AT's will no longer have a specific side like they currently do. -
Quote:Genin actually have an old school Comic look compared to the Jounin witch have a newer(90's style) Cartoon look while the Oni has the old school Demon human look goin on for it. However skipping the Genin imo is a huge disadvantage to you as thiers 3 of them even know thier low lvl compared to you at 50 thier single target dmg is a noticable loss. However your skippin em and thats your choice so i would go /FF skip Concealment and put in Leadership for Maunuvers and Tactics drop off Medicine and pick up CJ or Hasten and shoot for a high Recharge on your MM and aim for perma hasten if possible or shoot for High Def and stack up for Softcapped def on your MM. With /Dark you gotta count in the -tohit your debuffs do and you get a bit closer to the softcap with them. Heals on Ninja's however are pretty useless cuse if something is able to hit them itll likely kill them in either 1-2 hits so ive learned with my Nin/FF MM its better to shoot for High recharge and just recall the lost ones and with the last buff to MM's upgrades it makes upgradeing the lost ones go much quicker in battles.I'm trying to decide which one is better. I'm skipping Genin either way. (Just don't like how they look - not ninja enough for me.)
With Dark I've got lots of attack debuffs to keep my Jounin alive, but the highest defense I'm likely to get them up to is around 25%. I think Tar Pit would be awesome with the kind of damage they deal. However, with only Jounin and Oni, I'm worried they might get killed between heals.
If I go FF, however, I can cap their defense up to 45% or higher. With FF, I'd want to take the concealment pool, fitness, medicine, and probably flight - leaving no room for any martial arts attacks (which doesn't feel very fullfilling on a ninja.) -
Quote:I acctually played my Ninja/FF before IO's back when people said Ninja's where 'da gimp' that said once i hit 50 pre IO's my ninja's rarely died, With IO's thier at the soft cap as is my MM.So in orderHiya. Been a long while since I visited the Masterminds forums (or the AT for that matter).
I've been thinking of creating a Ninjas/FF. He'll be Tech Origin, the ninjas themselves are actually androids/robots. Yes, ninja robots.
So I have some questions:
1) Is it possible to softcap my pets defense? and myself as well?
2) How would Ninjas/FF be like, soloing EB's?
3) Is it possible for a Ninjas/FF to be able to solo some AV's at end game?
4) Considering that in BG mode, I have to wait to get hit in order for my pets to attack, should I bother with Tankerminding with such a defense oriented set? (Since it would take a long time for me to get hit, especially if I'm softcapped.) Is Tankerminding the way to go with this setup in the first place?
5) Considering that I don't see any heals on this particular combination, will the Medicine pool be a necessity? (I'm fine with Medicine, just making sure that I'm not missing some heal in some patron power or somesuch) Or should I bother with healing at all, if we're softcapped? And just let the ninja robot die if he gets two shotted, and resummon?
6) I'd rather not have Teleportation, but will it be necessary for Ninjas? Since I hear they tend to go all over the place sometimes. Or will just minding to control them more suffice?
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
1. Yes to both just use the Pet Def IO to boost it just above the Def softcap for pets in case of -def baddies.
2. Ninja's do some insane dmg and with the patron immob from BS u can set up your oni and use smoke on him and if done right he will use Rain of Fire and itll do Crit dmg till it ends, meaning that EB's pretty much melt away.
3. AV's they are pretty tuff but your lookin at a 20-30 min fight and with enuff Def your pets dont really take much dmg from the AV unless its +4 above then it gets kinda wierd.
4.BG mode is one of those some do and some dont run setup's with Ninja/FF i dont run BG just cuse i dont get hit enuff to warrent the need i just have my keyboard binds so i can push 1 button and have all my pets focus on a single target.
5.Heals? dont bother unless you want to take a power you wont be usein much or you want to keep your genin up and goin but they are pretty useless and i use em as alpha eaters.
6.TP isnt a must but with Ninja's they are very melee oriented what tend to do when in tight places is have a goto command so i can manuver around to where i wanna go without getting stuck or aggroing entire rooms. In other words Ninja's require alot of awareness so if you have the patience to do so you can run without TP.
My Tip for a Ninja/FF is wait till 50 before arriveing at a conclusion as to how they play. They remind me alot of /SR in that unslotted and not at 50 it feels rather weak but once slotted up /FF is amazing and with Ninja's single target oriented attacks you can pretty much tackle anything short of a GM and some AV's. -
I didnt think it was good to quote yourself doesnt that mean you got a split personality if ya gotta agree with yourself? Heck i aint the best at grammer but even you made my head hurt tryin to read that.

I Tweaked Perma's build cuse im a stickler for perma hasten without Siphon speed on. its pretty close to my current build but i got a bit more recharge in place of less Def to S/L but still decent. This 1 has Perma hasten and Soft capped Def to S/L so itll run over BM and anything else that uses S/L as an attack. No SB thought so you might be disliked by some but itll achieve things that most controllers that arent IOed out the gills wish they could do.

Quote:the LotG Def/Rech is the bonus it offers 7.5% global Rech to all powersFair enough, but most of the ones I mentioned weren't giving a set bonus. (Exception being the end/rech in CJ. But at least a Defense in there will give a mildly useful boost to the power.) And replacing the LotG Def/Rech with the Red Fortune one adds a useful set bonus.
-Morgan. -
Quote:I slot Char for dmg since i farm BM and set her to an EB, now for the reason for dmg FS is always maxed when u fight 1 target for an extended period of time and im pretty much always at 20 FS's its more the Recharge from the purple set over anything and the Ranged Dmg set gives ya that lil edge incase ya truely need it.I don't get it when people say to slot Char for damage. At low levels, maybe. But at high levels, if I'm facing a single target my Imps will make short work of it, and if I'm facing multiple targets, I'll have AoEs to throw around. I slot char for control, because if I'm using it, it means there's something I want to lock down, and I want it to *stay* locked down.
Not much point in putting recharge reduction in Combat Jumping and Tough, since such things don't detoggle when mezzed anymore. Combat Jumping doesn't need EndRed either, it's super-cheap as is. If you really want that regen bonus in Combat Jumping, I'd at least replace the EndRed/Rech with Defense. But I'm not sure it's really worth it. Weave's also an example of "doesn't need recharge", but there you're going for a set bonus. Might as well get the 5-bonus of red fortune if you're going to have the fifth slot at all though.
I also don't see much need for the EndRed in Super Speed, since that's a power that shouldn't normally be on while you're in combat, and out of combat it doesn't cost enough to matter.
Why slot Siphon Speed for slow? This isn't a power I use with the desire to slow things. I use it for the recharge bonus and the fast unsuppressed movement during combat. I'd recommend just using common accuracy and recharge IOs.
Siphon Power is rather underwhelming once you've got FS. I'd put a common accuracy in here, but that ought to be enough.
You may want to consider the Soulbound Allegiance Chance for Build Up. I've heard it can be a pretty impressive boost, since your pets get the chance every time they attack.
-Morgan.
As for the rech in Tought Weave CJ and others the others its for set bonuses since thats what i aim for and some of those sets offer End bonuses and End recov so they have thier purpose even though they dont really do much.Siphon Speed slot you could go 2 Acc 1 End or you could aim for set bonuses that will help ya in the long run. As for his slotting of FS ya its a lil heavy on Rech but he doesnt have perma hasten so thats why its slotted 3 Rech 2 Acc.
Yes Siphon Power looks underwhelming compared to FS but against a single target itll give ya more of a boost then a single FS will only downside to Sihpon Power is it only can stack 3 times before the first wears off.
Now as for your Soulbound idea, ya it sounds good in theory but thiers also the cool down time and imps attack so fast that if it goes off while in cool down it doesnt work and just resets the cool down time. So you get 1-2 attacks that are BUed and then you gotta have the imps stand back for 10 seconds to let the cool down wear off so they can get the effect again. IMO thats a waste of a slot since imps do poor dmg compared to HotFeet and throw in Fireball and all but a boss and mabey an LT are dead. Heck on my F/K/Stone i use my imps as more of a diversion to take some of the heat off me while i set up FS/HotFeet/Fissure and then Seismic Smash the last 2 bosses that remain and mabey trow in a transferance every 2nd mob. So in Theory it sounds good or u can 5 slot em with everything but the proc and place a slot else where for either more rech or more dmg. -
First imo Char is underslotted atleast 5 slots 4 if you wanna franken slot, SB is over slotted imo just 1 End Mod is sufficiant by the lvl u can get acess to it everyone should be well on thier way to being able to manage thier own end. The Glads armor looks nice in concept but once u see the price of it on the market youll cry for weeks so i would change that out to something else. Cinders is way over slotted most use it as a set mule and others skip it entierly. I would drop it to 4 slots move a slot to char and trow in 4 pieces of the cheapest Bassilisks set you can get ahold of.
With all that said here is what i would do going backwards treu your selections(starting at 50 workin to 1).
1-I would move the empty slot from Super Jump over to char
2-Remove the resist in Fire shield and place another slot in CJ with a Def/End LotG
3-Remove the last Rech from Fireball and stick the slot into Weave for the 5% rech bonus from Red Fortune.
4-Remove the End Mod from FS and move the slot to Char.
5-Fully slot out the Efficency Adaptor set in Transferance.
6-Either change out the Soulbound Alliegance set for another set or 5 slot it and remove a dmg IO,Move the slot to Stamina(more on this further down).
7-Change both slots in Tought to an impervian Armor set for the Recov bonus.
8-Stamina i would 4 slot with Performance Shifter set(+end Proc for more end recov)
9-Health is a bit overslotted imo either move 2 slots out of it and put em somewhere else or just use 1 Regular Health IO and change the other 2 to a Miricle and a Numina's Procs.
10-i would remove a slot from cinders and move it to char and change the set to a basilisks for the 7.5% rech
11-The last Rech in Flashfire is going to waste i would change it to a Posi's Blast Chance for Dmg(just for a bit more push on the dmg if you decide to keep the slot thier).
12-Change the set in Siphon Speed to Paceing of the turtle for higher %'s
13-i would move slots from Transfusion and Fire Cages to Siphon power and put in an Acc and a Rech thier.
14-Transfusion i would slot with a Touch of the Nictus set
15-Char i would slot with an Apoc set after u sell off that Unbreakable constraint set 5 slots for the Apoc set and then a Lockdown +2 Mag Hold for bosses/EB's/AV's.
All in all the way its laid out i would say it was just trow together with no real goal on bonuses and some of the lots look like you havent played the set enuff to know how each power reacts with others and with only 3 slots in char its way underslotted(specially since i use char as my main dmg attack) as for the rest i would suggest if your goin to drop the kinda infl your lookin at i would go for a complete respec and shoot for either High Rech or high Def to S/L. -
Quote:ok im goin to bite.....So you have 80% resist(yey!)....now the question becomes do i eat an orange and hit my cap reduceing incoming dmg by 90% or do i eat a purple and only have a 5% chance to get hit?Wow, the ignorance runs deep on this board. If you're at 80% s/l resist, how would a purple help more than an orange? Someone enlighten me.
Perhaps this is a case of Scrapper bias, where lower caps make resist inherently inferior to defense on that class. But contrary to popular belief, not everyone's playing a scrapper.
Personally ill eat that purple any day of the week cuse even the small purples increase your def enuff that just 1-2 will softcap you easy.....Now the question of what is better is pretty easy to see imo......to get hit or not to get hit all the time? Honestly ide go for the purple over an orange any day because even at the resist cap your still taken dmg mabey not as much but its still hittin that green bar but at the soft cap of def you might only get hit once out of every 5 times. -
Quote:not sure what you where aiming for either more +def or more towards +rech but the build i use aims towards +rech and i have perma hasten and with that said i still have Cinders since mobd melt quicker then FF recharges i have it for every other mob and when its not needed its a place holder for some IO's that help with Rech... anyways heres my build i run and it works very well imo.[color:#489AFF]Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.621[/color]That, I'm not sure. Any suggestions on that? I plan to do pretty much exclusively farming with this toon. I have lots of other toons for teaming already, so I really don't need another one. lol
I just feel like I'm wasting a power point (not to mention the slots I have on it) because I rarely ever use Cinders. The fact it has such a long recharge period doesn't help, either.
I fiddled around with Mids some earlier while standing around in Atlas Park and managed to come up with (what I think is) a pretty good build. Whether or not it actually IS good, I have no idea. I'm horrible with builds on this game. Particularly when it comes to power sets I know next to nothing about (like these two).

yea last time i was in GV the average pay per farm run was sitten around 5-10 mil depending on the map. But no its not against the rules as its been going on since Pre CoV and if it was the devs have done nothing to anyone to try and stop it.
-
ehh i would rather spend the cash on a Oblit Quad a Scirocco's Trip and a Multi Strike Trip and push the dmg of it up a bit instead of tryin to confuse the mob. But the confuse does help in the suvivability and with FF even if something gets confused it wont be able to attack since its stunned anyways.
-
So far with a 3 respecs down ive pulled my purples from my old build made some modifications to the 1 i posted earlyer and im able to pull 25 dmg from hotfeet and another 11 from WoC. Hotfeet im not sure on the tick count but WoC is tickin every 4 seconds for dmg. However my first assupmtion that my survivall rate would decrease was just that an assupmtion. Now haveing ran a few farms, a MoITF, a MoSTF and a few others my survivall rate seems to be better then with tough and weave, for the simple fact that WoC provides a nice confuse to minions and i think LT's can be confused as well. So i would absolutly recomend that if your a F/K/Psi try and fit in WoC and Psi nado if possible. Not only does it increase your damage output it also increases your survivability in the long run overall.

Quote:This was the gist of my post summoned into 2 sentencesAnyone tried out WoC for trollers? I'm considering it for my Fire/Rad, just to make a juicy cocktail of PBAoE goodness with Hootfeet and CC.
anyways the Fire/Kin/Psi im lookin at is this.

So tonight i got to thinking with 2 Dmg Aura's and Psi Nado, could i drop Tough and Weave and pick up WoC and push out more dmg then with a Tough and Weave picked up and slotted.
I would post a build but im interested in what others can come up with.
In case your wondering Flashfire should be up every mob and last long enuff to wipe out a mob. That is the current case i have and i would like to keep it that way thus on my current F/K build i dont get hit often enuff to warrent Tough/Weave and im looking for an alternative either more Dmg or some other form of dmg Mitigration. -
Quote:I hate to be 'THAT GUY'....but my WS has no problem soloing a even level boss and niether have many of the WS's ive seen runnin around lately they all seem to be goin off and gettin into 'scrapperlock'. Heck i even saw a WS go herd up some lvl 54 bosses in AE and without skipin a beat he was able to eclipse double mire and explode droppin almost all the bosses to below half hp and even killed a few of em i guess cuse he was able to strygian and keep on goin like he was some sort of god.... but if ya dont know this already "epic AT" doesnt mean the AT is better then any other AT it just means thier story is epic(in the case of VeaT no so much). When a Kheldian cannot take a boss 1 on 1 in a safeguard mission. They archtype needs a pass and buffs by the devs. There is no other archtype on hero side that is a guaranteed fail against a even conning boss in a safeguard mission, except for the Kheldian.
Warshades and Peacebringers both arent where they should be. You cant tell me that a hero playing 50 levels on any archtype is going to be truly happy with them. Just look at the VEATs in comparison to the Kheldians.
They should be better then this. -
Not Really Scrapperlock but funny none the less.
A while back pre AE me and some buds where running a ITF set on Relent.....No brute, no tank.(yea it doesnt look good from here). We start expecting the worst. the first mish we roll treu like thiers no tommorow with only 1 death several teammates split we all find each other at the top with the mish complete scroll across the top. Second mish all the way to the end we have mabey 1-2 death's a completion. The End fight with Romi.... Yea the fun fight at the end. We all gather drop romi once, twice.... Now its him and his heal bot nicti grouped together. We go in for the kill only to all faceplant. So we try again and again and ... well you get the point. after 6 tries we regroup and discuss a plan..... THE PLAN. Get next to the wall and immob romi and his nicti and since we are below him next to the wall he wont be able to target us in order to attack or let his nicti heal off of us(Sounds crazy i know). IT WORKED!!!11!!. 2 hours after we started a team of 2 defenders neither of witch where Dark/ or Emp/, 4 Controllers a mix of Fire/ Ice/ and i think thier was a Mind/ all /kin, and then are 2 Doms(dont member thier powers) Finished set on relent. Was the funnest ITF i have ever run and will never run another like it EVER.
See told ya no scrapperlock everyone was to busy jumping up and down at the stair walls that romi stands on in the end to even wanna bother with scrapperlock. :P -
Sorry but everytime someone posts something related to "Epics" why does this always always, always come up no one even mentioned em being 'Uber' or better then others the OP was imo seeking to understand why the powers all look exactly like the patron powers and imo they do as well. Heck none of the hero side AT's look exactly like the HEAT's powers althought some act/ are exactly the same just a recolor witch is how i think they shoulda done the VEAT's but o well guess ill stick to Hero side till GR and then i wont have to worry about the patron powers at all anymore.
-
Quote:From what i read i dont think hes interested in the abilities of the power or the 'Unique ness'. I think he is refering to the look. I.E. you pull out your bane mace... the same one you get for picking Black Scorp as your patron.... or how bout that widow ever see a claws/ scrap? its kinda the same reason im not interested in SoA's either. Being super powerful on a 5 man SoA team means nuthing if the look of the character never draws ya in, heck i put up with 45 lvls of an SoA and it was all bleh and turned around and Purpled out a WS cuse i had so much fun playin it. Sad part is the SoA was made before the WS so your milage will very depending on what your lookin for.VEATs and HEATs have powers similar to what you've played in the game already, while at the same time having some pretty good abilities to themselves.
VEATs
-
Venom Grenade
Poisonous Ray
Surveillance
Frenzy
Omega Maneuver
Mind Link
Foresight
Poison Dart
Dart Burst
HEATs
-
Bright/Dark Nova/Dwarf Forms
Photon Seekers
Glowing Touch
Quantum Flight/Nebulous Form
Dark Extraction
Stygian Circle
Eclipse -
normally with /regen you can go ahead and skip Stamina since youll have a built in stamina anyways but haveing played a BS/Regen i found i had to take both even with 2acc/2dmg/2end slotting (dont pvP only PvE)and i was runnin out of end by the time i was in the middle of the second mob. So i would recommend you pick up Stamina and slot some end reduc's in your attacks as well.

Quote:Of course a game that just came out of beta is going to be full of bugs, why? beta's tend to be clossed for 1-2 reasons 1:less people you get a better idea of what the concess of the group feels is a necessity. 2: Less people to trow fits when something doesnt work like they think it should., Though in general anything that comes off a assembly line I.E. CO/War Hammer Online is going to be full of bugs people in the closed beta missed but thier lore and story will be better off in the long run if thier closed. As for not jumping in when a game comes stright from beta, thats a personal dessision that only you can make. Am i goin to jump in? yep cuse i wanna see where NCSoft takes it imo they did an amazing job makeing CoH but sicne thier leave the lore to the game seems to have been put on the back burner, and with CO useing a new engine itll be fun to play something new and shiny specially since the graphics in this game dont seem to be getting alot better. As for the mentioned cartoony look or comicy look. The devs over at CO said you could turn that feature off if you so liked.I learned my lesson not to rush to a game that just came out of beta. It's always full of bugs... ex: War Hammer Online.
With that said your wondering why im still here. Well cuse i dont play on turning CoH off till i find out if i will be enjoyin CO as much as i have enjoyed CoH. -
For me the awnser was easy, SR with aid other... but i dont pvp at all so that could mean you dont wanna go SR not sure how broke def still is in PvP. But for Pve claw's comes with some imo outstanding single and AoE dmg and tag SR onto it and you got mobs that are to busy floppin to lay a hand on ya and when they are up thier missin left and right anyways. But the main reason SR is quickness, heck ya cant ever go wrong with +rech and its build right in.
Thats my opinion anyways hope ya find something ya like in the long run claws/ with anything will give ya a good ride to 50.
