Related to the idea of the personal SG, it would definitely be nice if you could send a sginvite to a character that was not online and it could be accepted when they log in. This would not only make it much easier to add your alts to the SG but I would think it would be handy for regular super groups. Sometimes the agreement to add a character to the group is made on the group's web site, or in a chat channel when one or both of the people involved are not playing the appropriate characters at the moment.

Well, I would design it similar to teleporting. You pick a spot, any spot, within 10 yards and you jump to that location automatically. You then have like 3 seconds to pick and move to a new spot. If not, then you fall down to ground level if you jumped to the side of a wall or the ceiling of a hallway.
The movement would be click intensive but TP is like that now....but this would probably be even more intensive but much cooler!!
I recommend this way as it is already coded ingame with TP. They just have to shorten the distance and add the jumping and clinging animations....should be easy enough....I think.

And, to bring up one of Positron's arguments concerning new transport powers, how would it differ markedly from Teleport or Leaping as they already exist in game? You could easily just take Teleport if you want a movement style like this, and it wouldn't require a vast load of new animations to go along with it.
One of the big reasons that Teleport is so unpopular is that it is very high maintenance for a travel power. You'd be making a travel power that is simply slower and just as high maintenance. The only "advantage" is that it would look slightly fancier, but I doubt that will keep people interested for long, especially if it can't compete mathematically and functionally with the existing transport powers.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's true it would be high maintenance, but it would undoubtedly cost less endurance and would not have the hazard of plummeting or suddenly appearing in the middle of a bunch of badguys that were too far away to be drawn by your computer. -

Any possibility for some type of acrobatic type of movement as a new movement power?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not ask for hyper-digging while your at it...

that would be like teleport wouldnt it lol

It wouldn't have to be. It could be slower, it could use less endurance, and/or it could use the map for designating your destination. -
Society has always had a place for its unwanted, its mistakes, its outsiders. Whether asylum, pyre or merely banishment, for the good of the many, some have been set apart by fate or by design. There are skeletons in the closet of society stretching back millennia. But people are also fascinated by these freaks. Morbid curiosity drives people to stare and their appetite for the bizarre, the macabre, and the titillating has created outlets for this craving; from the Bacchinals of Ancient Greece, to the Circus Maximus of Rome, traveling Gypsy troupes, Commedia dell'arte, and now, in this age of super powered beings, comes the Circus of Light.
If you are one of these outcasts, the Ring Master may have a home for you. For those that he chooses there will be warm food and shelter. From the night and from those that do not tolerate the strange in their midst. Know ahead of time, however, that the members of the Circus are expected to perform and to fight, for the Ring Master is fighting a war.
((The Circus of Light is currently made up of alts of members of the Midnight Avengers. We currently only meet on Fridays at 8 pm pacific time. The idea is to try to get as many people as possible to be on at the same time even though we are a small group, and for all of the characters to level up at the same pace. As of 10/14/06 the highest level characters are level 25. If we can interest some more people we would consider changing or even adding meeting days in order to accommodate differing schedules. I would say that we are moderate to heavy role-play. We try to act in character and indicate which comments and jokes are just the player talking. As you can tell from the description above, this circus is not all clowns, slapstick and silliness, but there is definitely room for that. The idea is to have fun after all. You can contact us by either going to our Forum and posting in the Applications Circus of Light area, or sending in game mail to Ring Master or e-mail to Ringmaster@clearwire.net )) -
I think it is an expectations issue. Some of us have become used to seeing an article laid out like a newspaper and finding that it contains content of a roleplay type nature.
There is nothing wrong with "OOG" info, it is just jarring when it is in the same wrapper as the "IG" stories. -

The Tsoo are Hmong. It's an ethnic group in China and southeast Asia.

I thought they came from Fresno. -
I suspect that the faster/better your typing/spelling skills, the easier it is to be popular in role playing circles. I will admit that I tend to equate proper spelling, grammar, and vocabulary with age and maturity. Exceptions are made for people speaking English as a second language. The irony is that MY vocabulary far exceeds my spelling ability, and my typing speed and accuracy is.....not good.

Eden has come up with some very solid game systems in the past that are easy to play and don't take a calculator (which is fine in mini's not so fine in RPGs IMHO) *cough* Champions *cough*
[/ QUOTE ]
I guess it has been longer than I thought since the last time I played Champions. I don't remember it being complicated, or requiring a calculator. I remember "acquiring a taste for it" in just a few minutes. I guess I was just sick of AD&D type games that were about two steps short of rolling a die and saying "I win". -
Personally, I am more interested in the nobodys than the Superman level heroes, but I think Heavansrun has the right idea:
[ QUOTE ]
It'll make these legends feel more legendary if we can -see- their exploits firsthand. As it stands now, in game, they're just NPC's you go to to level up and do TF's.
[/ QUOTE ] -
I think it's a great idea.
I have bound the shift and lctrl keys to specific powers on a few characters but I would be willing to either give that up or keep that binding and give up the quick access to the third tray. So far I don't anticipate needing instant access to more than about 20 powers anyway -

Once you have done the steps listed above, you may have found your answer as well as answers to questions you didnt even know you had. If you didnt, please go ahead and post your question, please try and include as much information as possible, remember 99% of these questions are answered by regular users so the more background you give them, the better they will be able to answer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Might I suggest that when you are including that information in your question, don't neglect the subject line. Give us a clue what your question is, don't just say things like "Help!", or "This sucks!" or "I have a problem".
Someone who knows the answer to your problem might skip over it in favor a topic where they think they might have an answer.
Even better, it helps someone else that has the same question and keeps them from repeating the question. -
I admit it: Im anti-social. Its hard to get me to group up with strangers. But after I do it, I almost always think "Oh yeah, that's why I usually play solo."

There's plenty of room left to grow...
Far future heroes
Spy organizations
Pulp
Magical world
etc.
etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of those, Pulp is the only one that elicits an "Oh hey!" reaction. Actually, as one person pointed out, CoH already has a number of elements that are not that far from Pulp. On the flip side, I agree with the poster that commented that having hundreds of Pulp heroes running around at the same time might be even more disconcerting than the current genre. -
I'd like to see a villian rack the slide on a pistol and point it just because they do it in the movies ALL the time. Too bad it won't work due to the lack of pistols and the transition out of the pose at the end would be wierd.
Gotta have smoking and drinking, pacing, wringing, fist waving, all that stuff. Hair flip and blowing a kiss would be fun too. Check wristwatch.
You know, a lot of these would work just fine for heroes as well... -
[ QUOTE ]
Please Please, a "cross arms" emote. COH toons do it after awhile, but i would appreciate it being on command.

Already in the game /emote crossarms
/emote akimbo is in there too. -
I like the idea of supergroup members wandering arround, tinkering etc. I don't think the entire group should be there all the time. I don't like the idea of logged out characters fighting. I think that they should periodically get up and walk through a door and despawn. By the same token, every so often a door opens an a randomly selected logged off hero spawns and walks in. Just before a raid all of the non-player heroes would just "happen" to walk out. Same kind of thing if a player logs in. This way you don't have heroes fighting badly, a crowd of bots to keep track of, a base full of alts that is really tough to attack, and yet you get the ambiance of a base with a bunch of heroes in it.
Servants would be better than nothing though. -
We can't even seem to populate a single spot much less a chain.
On the other hand, it would provide a motivation (for the character) to show up. The only motivation for standing around Galaxy Girl is... what, staring up the skirt of a statue? -
Play only one character?!! But if you did that, think of all the great characters you AREN'T playing!
-
My favorite thing about Champions was the flexibility. No classes, no pre-defined powers, none of that. You paid points to buy results (x dice of damage, range, etc., mix and match) and you got to invent whatever you wanted that caused that result. The price list was comprehensive enough that you would be hard pressed to come up with a power or weapon that could not be described in game terms.
-
I didn't realize that standing near a spawn location prevented the spawn (cool idea though) but I also didn't think anything spawned in the parks right next to the level-up locations.
I think the tram stations have been suggested (or maybe I just thought about suggesting them). My only objection would be that it might be a little noisy. However, like you say, it doesn't have to be right under the station.
PS One possible problem with a official designated spot might be that it would be an easier target for griefers. -

I'll put in my vote for the magic shops as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
So how does my security level 2 controller find one of these magic shops? -
FireStiker,
I am suggesting the parks next to Mrs. Liberty and Backstreet Brawler (the level up areas). They are accessible to all. I am not suggesting any particular server or time.
I have hung out there for a little bit a few times but I got lonely and left. -
Do you picture this to be a government run organization? Either way, a military type group comes to mind. Either a newly formed special forces team or a group of citizens training to be partisans when the Rikti return and dominate the lazy and complacent government forces.
