You've got to be careful what types of missions you're reporting. A standard farm - just a mission with lots of relatively soft mobs to defeat - may not be liked by the devs, but it is legit. The ones that violate the rules are ones such as the recent bubble farms.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, any mission built to be farmed is against the rules.

It's just that Meows and Bubble farms were also exploits.

I would try big lots or ebay. You should be able to get it for $30 or less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most places I've seen it online have it for $50+, because it IS hard to find.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Typically at big lots, I've seen it for $10 or so. *shrug* Even the COV CE.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bill, you are slipping.

I said ONLINE. I wasn't nay-saying the fact that Biglots caps it CoH/V packages at about 10 bucks.

Hmm, I should see if I can find one locally tomorrow.

    XP Debt at 50?

There is also a debt cap so there is only a certain amount of times you can die before you stop accruing debt.

5xFull Debt deaths, last I checked (so 10x inside a mission.)

As for 50's earning the Patrol XP badge differently, I would point out that for sub-50's you have to use the PXP to get the badge (as I recall) - which a debt-free 50 could not do. So, they only have to do the login.

Is it too much to ask, that you EXTEND the time you keep this in closed beta (and also open beta) so that the bugs that get trapped get addressed before it goes Live?

cos there was a LOT of stuff in I14 that got flagged by the testers and yet the issue was rushed to market; then we had a devs-vs-players meltdown that lasted for well over two months and scared off a LOT of people, all because of MA exploits getting press / blog / game reviewer coverage.

You folks cannot afford to do that again, so soon after. So please, keep the emphasis on TESTING and not "check out the new shiny early".

[/ QUOTE ]I get what your saying but I dont see many exploits coming from powers being recolored or from powersets getting ported so I dont think we will have anything remotely close to that unless for some reason we get new content thats a TF/SF or something.

Proliferation could have issues with decimal errors, table look-ups, incorrect values in general.

We could have some issues leveling up.

Yeah, that magic pack was much more "Halloween costume sexy witch" rahter than "wicked witch."

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think that's the only kind of witch you ever find these days. Look at stuff like Charmed, or anime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a reason for that. Classic, scary, ugly, warted witches with big noses and pointy chins and who look like they're 500 years old are... Well, ugly and not very cool. Certainly not something I'd like to play as, or play against. Bad guys need to be cool, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Reminds me of an episode of Bewitched.

Darren tries a sexy-witch campaign, and gets put in the doghouse because he is forced to redo it with an old-hag witch.

Samantha then decided to round up some other witches and have a protest... over the bed of Darren's boss at about midnight-2am.

The Bootleg is the original trial version, wasn't sure if it would stack. Though I should probably get it just to have it.

Bootleg was a copy with some free time - trials require you to purchase the game.

    3) The rule of 5. You can only get a certain set bonus up to 5 times in a build. As such, you can make a build that has 5 +6.25% Recharge bonuses, and 5 +4% Recharge bonuses, but if you build one with 7 +6.25% Recharge bonuses, only 5 of them will work. So putting a lot of the same set on a single build might not get you the most benefit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just out of curiosity, does the Rule of 5 also apply to purples? I noticed there are well more than 5 purple sets that give 15% Accuracy bonus and 10% Recharge bonus. If someone were to somehow manage to come up with a build that could take more than 5 of these sets, would the Rule of 5 kick in on these, or are purples exempt? (barring hitting any recharge or ACC cap anyway)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nothing is exempt. LotG:Recharges, KBIOs, all those follow the rule of five as well (check combat attributes to see if Karma, Zephyr, and Steadfast all hae the same name or not for their KB protection - it's the name under the combat attributes that matters.

Oh, it's happened to lots of people. The only advantage of being a vet is that you've already made most of those '"d'oh!" mistakes, like trying to click on the 'out' door of the tram and not understanding why it wasn't working.

    Task Force
<ul type="square">[*]Manticore Task Force: 1st Mission no longer spawns level 40 Paragon Protector Elites (This is a level 30-35 Task Force)[/list]

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mmm ... I just tried to do this TF on live the other day. There were level 40 Paragon Protectors in more than just the first mission. We defeated the ones in the first mission, but were unable to complete the TF due to level 40 PPs with difficult power combinations in a later mission (in KR).

    [/ QUOTE ]

This problem is not just on the TF. I've had to abandon two lvl 30-35 crey missions because a lvl 40 elite mysteriously spawned in them. If the fix was applied to crey in general, GREAT! If it was only that one mission, this probably needs more attention.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In theory, the problem is somehow elites got added to the spawn-creation list for crey at that level, even though they only spawn 40+. So if it's fixed there, it could very well be fixed elsewhere.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I've actually made a hobby of collecting every released boxed version. I think I still need the original CoH, and that's it. (Except for the M&amp;G codes, chances for those are slim. )

    [/ QUOTE ]

So you have a bootleg copy?
  16. Inventions

But, basically - you can slot any number of a set in your build. EXCEPTIONS: Purples, but then, each IO in a purple set is unique.

There is a limit to how many copies of a given set bonus you can benefit from, however.

    Law of Fives

So go and slot that second set of Obliteration in another power.

while "resets the duration" can't be mis-interpreted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I hate to tell you... but that's not true.

I live in a state where our School zone signs where changed from "while children are present" to "At all times" because people where unsure exactly what qualified as "children are present" (some had hear a kid using the toilet could qualify, if the cop happened to know someone was in it, for example).

They now read "School days, 7am-5pm" because people where confused as to what "At all times" meant.

    All that money, wasted...

The only way to see if it's on is to monitor your regeneration or recovery rate. There is no icon.

While the wiki is technically right that it's a "chance" to go off, it's a 100% chance - you get the bonus every time you use the power, or once every 10 seconds in a auto power, or an active toggle. Note that it doesn't stack with itself - if you trigger it while it's still up, it just extends the duration.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Zombie man went and added the proc tag to it the other day - we need a 120 tag, but for makeweight sure people don't misunderstand it (we had someone thinking it was a global, which is the set-bonus like IO) he tagged it such. Mechanics are the same, just not a random chance

I lucked out and found that sitting on a shelf in circuit city when they were going out of business. Was a nice surprise to find without even looking.

Around... November? I found for a mere five bucks off (so 55USD still) Auto Assualt CE.

WHen I asked a rep why they still had a game that cannot be played due to the servers it requires to run being shut down 8 months ago, I was told they often keep older software for older computers O.o
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Now this is potentially useful information...

Does anyone know how Norton reacts to CoX? I run pretty horrendously slow on a mid-range PC, and I always assumed it was server-side. I'm sort of hesitant to shut off Norton, though, because I'm not sure what will happen without it's firewall, or if Vista has it's own firewall.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Xp comes with a firewall, pretty sure Vista does as well.

Also, Zonealarm has a pretty good free firewall.

As for Norton, I refuse to use it for two reasons :

Their old "Uninstall me and no more internet for you cause we be sloppy/malicious/stupid" escapade. And may still do so. (couldn't find a better link in a quick search) I know the original issue involved Norton installing a registry key that disabled your connection if Norton wasn't running (and hey, they had a tool to fix it... on their website) but it was not removed by the uninstall program.

And then there was a friend having Norton set to scan network traffic, or something..l. and before he logged into his computer as it booted it, Norton cause me and my three friends to be booted from our War3 game due to lag.

That's my experience, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did cause issues.

Avast seems alright so far, other than the nice sound effects I had to disable...

    EDIT : from a blog I found :
    [ QUOTE ]

Symantec’s been oft-accused of bloat, creating antivirus software that’s near-impossible to remove cleanly from your computer because it embeds itself so firmly into your registry that uninstalls are the equivalent of removing shrapnel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Where is it?

Sort of on topic: Having Burke and Kalinda give the cape and aura missions is "unfair" and shows that the devs really hate heroes. Heroes have to go and personally talk to the City Rep, whereas villains can just call their first contact, provided that they did enough of the starting missions to get that option. Doesn't actually bother me, just pointing it out. Although, it would be nice if heroes could get a way to call the City Rep, even if it was only after doing the cape mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only if they do enough to get the phone number from Burke or Kalinda - they both kinda hold out on you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

At least you CAN buy it. I've bought almost all the packs and extra goodies this game has, but one thing I don't have and really want is the Arachnos cape logo, and afaik, it was only available in the COV Collector's Edition DVD, and I don't believe that is available anywhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They are often on Ebay too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Amazon is probably a better bet, but unless you have a credit card, no go.

Although, in most places you CAN get a visa gift card that works like a debit card.

How is not having to have to deal with Kalinda or Burke "all screwed up"?

I would pay cold hard cash for the ability to never have those two on my contact list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not just that - but if someone talks to H.T. or has any missions from in there, then ports out, they CANNOT get rid of any of them.
