Quote:The issue is it used to work that way, IIRC - the enter the first mission and kick everyone. But not since the last batch of TF changes.Wrong. It is ENTIRELY and PRECISELY true. Also, you don't need to be IN the first mission. Once you are in task force mode, you can kick all others EXCEPT ONE. You MUST have two people in the task force or it disbands. Eric has every detail in that post correct.

Quote:Even then, the "stuff" wouldn't be his, he didn't create it.You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. We're not talking about something from the Bill of Rights. We're talking about intellectual property existing only in an electronic medium. And you think the law says you can't give away your rights to intellectual property? Wow.
You do not give away any rights as far as "gear" is concerned because not only did you not create it, you can only access it via NCSoft's good will. You only got it because of their good will. For you to own those items like you would a Pepsi, THEY would have to give away their rights.
At least it's just electronic. IIRC, the XBox is technically not something you buy, but license to use... according to it's paperwork. -
Only place you could store a uncrafted recipe would be in the Market, taking up one of your transaction slots. it works because you are not required to set a sale price.

For me if it keeps me logged in, it won't update my "Last visited" and so every time I come back, everything from the last time I logged in is marked new, even if I've read it several times with no new posts.

Quote:The bit about rep is the fact a defeated character will only have a chance to drop a PvP IO if you get rep for it (so, every five minutes after a defeat or so, IIRC).I have already dug through the wiki for this information for about an hour, so I figured I'd ask here.
Does anyone know the (approximate) drop rate for PvP IOs? I know that only the devs know the actual drop rates, but I was wondering if anyone did any long-term testing to get an idea of where they are.
Also, I hear mentioned that they are based on reputation instead of number of kills, or something to that extent... What are the rules governing how they drop, if not how often they are *supposed* to drop?
Thanks in advance!
~WP
Then it's 10 minutes (on you?) before another will drop IF you get one. -
Quote:When you buy a coke or pepsi, you are a) buying a physical object, and b) not agreeing to a EULA stating that you are merely purchasing the right to licenses access to "their" soda as long as you obey the rules and pay a monthly fee.
in fact i would argue that the stuff on my account is mine. And not the property of ncsoft, when i buy a coke or a pepsi its not theirs anymore. -

If you have not turned the mission in, I believe they can reset it, or set it to a successful complete vs. a failure. Might need a t2 support though.

If you don't have either the Tech (Cyborg) Pack or the Magic pack (especially the magic pack), I recommend you use the NCSoft store to purchase the AE edition, and apply it/upgrade your account with it, and choose whichever you don't have (if you have neither, I would recommend the magic pack) as purchasing it this way for 20 bucks USD gets you the pack AND a month of play.
For me, currently, the "Order of Purchases" would be :
Natural/Martial Arts pack because of Ninja run and there are some very good costume bits.
Magic Pack - The fortune buffs are fairly good, and some of the best costume bits in the game, many think.
And a toss up between Tech and Science. So far, I've gotten more use out of Tech... but I SO love blowing up and destroying things 1/hour with self destruct, so I'm biased

Quote:Regardless of when the last one was, if they were hit with it, their names would be still un-reservered if the character(s) fit the criteria, and as per the policy, as long as they don't change the criteria, they could do another at any time without notice.Yes, they should all be there waiting for you.
There hasn't been a name purge in years.
But as far as actual character deletion? Never, unless that character was part of taking advantage of a MAJOR exploit. Don't even know if they have done it, but it is listed as a possible repercussion of bug/flaw exploitation. -
Beginning Search and Capture mission for mutation reversal and deprogramming.

Quote:It is not entering the portal, per se, but rather the despawning of the portal. So as long as it isn't your O-portal, enter away!-Entering an Ouroboros portal will interrupt people using Base Teleporters, Mission Teleporters and Assemble the Team powers nearby. Kindly wait for them to finish before you enter. Presumably, it will interrupt all interruptible powers.
EDIT : And Willowpaw, the Rikti would be an exception because they are the only villain group like that - with the lost-Rikti translation. -
Quote:However, if you are buying this via the NC Store and downloading from the link provided, it doesn't matter which version because they all link to the updater, which then downloads the whole game.If you get the AE version, you will have fewer updates to download. If you get GvE version, the client will download all the updates from that version on, which will include AE. It will just take longer.
The above quote is only true for physical box copies of the game. -
Quote:If the TP protection is a set bonus, it would stackWhat particular part of Shield Wall are you referring to? The 20% Chance of TP Protection stacking with that from Galdiator's Armor is the only odd case for stacking. All the other stuff stacks using the usual 'Rule of 5' and unique limitations. I'm not sure how the TP Prots stack.

Quote:Unless you used a time or game card you haven't actually purchased the time yet.guys another quick question, so i purchased the game and supposedly activated the account but for some reason it keeps asking me to pay for a subscription even though I am supposed to receive a free 1 month subscription with the order. Am i required to purchase additional game time before I can use the time given to me from the purchase?
nvm it seems i had to activate it by indeed purchasing game time.
If you have not yet gotten the AE version, if/when you get it I recommend the Magic Pack over the Tech/Cyborg pack, as its power more useful more often.
If you haven't got the GvE version, the Pocket D teleport it grants and the jump jet power are both very useful.
Mac version is nice to pick up for the free month, the costume pieces, and the mission teleport. And it's not OS specific - it more of a "Our client works on Mac now!" celebratory edition
As was pointed out, if you get the "box" version over the perk-pack version of a box, it comes with a free month.
Also, if there is a Big Lots or similar place that sells new but clearance stuff you might be able to find an GvE box or older edition of CoV or CoH and add them to your account. Gives the free month still, and is usually 10 bucks or less. -
Quote:Actually, to reduce the duration 50% would require 100% hold resistance. If you have mag 5 hold protection and 50% hold resistance, this means that you are protected from any combonation of holds that total 5 and below.
Also, any holds that do hit have the duration reduced by 50%
Most mez resistance works from the Duration=Original Duration/(1+Resistance). It also caps at 100%, so the biggest reduction is 50% of the original duration. -
Walk works because it enables the flag for suppressing all powers flagged Disable_All, like Studio B. Therefore, Walk cannot be flagged to suppress under that flag or else it would suppress itself.

Quote:Fixed.Except that there is a little icon showing which day job location you are at BEFORE logging off. So there should be a smaller issue to display where you logged off than, say, the last costume you wore before logging off.
Oh wait, the game does that now.
And the icons are basically the results of AoE powers, which cannot affect you when logged off. -
Quote:I may be way off base, but I think the issue is this :
3. The act of making it only look good in ultra mode but not in conventional mode defies BaB's sense of aesthetics.
The low end's effects, currently, are ALWAYS used. Even when you up the quality/particle count/etc. It's the base. They can't have it not happen, currently, and the light refraction/bending/etc would really not work with the base effect. Especially if the base effect is a graphical cottage rule item.
That's BAB's concern. -
I know that old MoG didn't care what your current HP was - the issue with it and PPs is that it heals them to max, then does a set amount of "damage" thus stealing XP.

Quote:So there is no way to have it set to go to data/standard to pull if ultra mode is off, then pull the graphics from /ultramode if ultra mode is on? Basically a switch that has the client pull from a differnet source? Or is that an issue because the current setup does not require any kind of reloading of the graphics to turn on/off?Our VFX system doesn't work that way (and no engine I've ever worked with has either). On the one hand it's theoretically possible, it would make some sense...but on the other there's so much manual effort that goes into creating a visual effect that having some kind of tiered system requiring creating multiple versions of an effect seems very impractical. At best, we take a layered approach....everyone would see the sprite particles for fire and smoke, but only people who have video cards capable of rendering distortion would see the secondary effect of heat distortion.
In this very particular case though, where you're trying to represent spatial/light distortion...I think you'd be hard pressed to find a way to make something representative of distortion, without using distortion, that would still look as good (or better) if actual distortion were layered on top of it. This conceptualization of a Black Hole is visually interesting, and might be achievable in a way that could work everyone's hardware...but it's very different from something like Einstein Rings created by gravitational lensing that could only be created with some sort of distortion effect. -

Quote:So I don't hold the team up for that extra time - Brutes/Doms tend to appreciate this.I always carry one awake just so I can revive while on a team if need be.
Though what bugs me is on the opposite end of the spectrum, where people will use an awake+break free even if there's no need to. Why do you need to avoid the stun if there are no enemies nearby?

Quote:Add some reds/yellows, and I'm pretty sure even that other 10 percent of builds can solo that 90% of EBsThis is the one thing I would absolutely tell everybody in the game if I could. Most of the people I've known who insist that soloing EBs is practically impossible had never thought to just try packing a stack of purples into the mission. With purples? 90% of EBs will fall to 90% of builds.
