vB isn't much of an upgrade from UBB. I've given up on trying to stay logged in, and having it remember what I've read and what I havent. Whenever I'm done with the forums for the visit, I now log out. It's the only reliable solution I've found.

The best way to stabilize FireFox (I'm assuming, since this has been a recurring problem for FF users) for these new boards is:
1. Delete all CoH cookies: with both city* and coh* names.
2. Disable CoolIris.
3. Reboot to clear all caches
4. Enter the boards with the http://boards.cityofheroes.com address.
I didn't need to disable CoolIris, but did the rest, and it worked fine.

Thanks for this i'll try it. I am guessing since A) i have never heard of and B) cant find a trace of cooliris i aint got it
Don't use CoolIris. I've removed my cookies, and same thing happens. FireFox refuses to keep me logged in to ANY site for more than 3 or 4 days, and never here.

Huh. No issues with Firefox... I can't think of the last time I *had* to log into the forum! (Aion forum's a different matter - irritating bit of software and design over there.)
There are two problems here:
1. Staying logged into the forums without having to put your name and password in each session, or even after opening each thread. This is a cookie issue with Firefox and almost always clears up when one takes the steps outlined above.
2. Have the boards update your cookies to keep track of threads read so that you see which threads are new and can jump to 'last read' in a thread. This is an acknowledged bug which corporate services are working on. Ironically, it's logging out and back in which will update your cookies, which is exactly the unwanted behavior of problem #1.

I can't stay logged in for more than a day, but I think it's to do with the cookie that sets the EU/NA preference.
When you check the Remember Me box on log in the username and password cookies have an expiry of today + 1 year, but the authRegion cookie that remembers I am an EU member has an expiry of today + 20 hours. When that expires I'm kicked out again and have to log back in.
Again, this is using Firefox 3.5, and I've given up logging in everytime....
Had the problem, fixed the problem.
There is a cookie from City of Heroes that is not called City of Heroes, or is not in the normal placement for such things. Find it and delete it.
It drove me crazy for over a month, I stayed logged out since logging in would have me logged out within a minute or two.
Besides that, couldnt' tell you.
Also, Cooliris = Piclens.
My last visit was last night at about 7:30 PM EST. Logged out, and went about my way.
I just came back and logged in about a half hour ago, and it said my last visit was 11:06 AM, and marked EVERYTHING as read.

I have NEVER stayed logged into the forums in firefox since the change. Sigh. The only way I can stay logged in is to use IEtab. But that kills my zombie style. Never a perfect resolution.
I dont seem to be able to stay logged into forum i have had a look around see if i could find others with same problem but i cannot. I need to log in twice before it even properly logs me on and after a couple of hours i am magically logged out (without even navigating off page) pretty sure its not a cookies issue as this is the only site with this problem and i stay logged on at the same time on other Vbulletin boards (i tested this)
At first i thought it was just the forum auto log off but that does not explain why i have to log in twice or why the remember me box does nothing
