for remaining 2 would be the best 2 accuracy, because missed midnight grasp sometimes can be a reason for a wipe. i would even slot 3 accuracy if there would be possible to 7 slot this power.

about -tohitdebuf. its not like u don't have already darkest night, which is more then sufficient for its job. most likely the target will land on the tohitdebuff cap pretty fast anyway.
about hold enh. fluffy has only one single target hold, which isn't that impressive on recharge/duration ratio. even with 2 holds it will not be perma and not that much of use during boss/AV fights.

IMHO the only useful set is the "touch of the nictus", which covers all the needful aspects, recharge/accuracy/heal. and makes fluffy somewhat a damage maker with the proc.
I disagree, in part. Recharge is a very important aspect on a mastermind.

I do not agree that the primary function of the Dark Servant is to heal. It is a very nice function but not the primary function.

Dark Servant > Darkest Night 30% tohit debuff
Dark Servant > Tenebrous Tentacles 5% tohit debuff
Dark Servant > Twilight Grasp 5% tohit debuff (10% dmg debuff Nice!)
Dark Servant > Chill of the Night 30% PbAoE tohit debuff centered on Dark Servant

That's the real deal for my mastermind: 30% PbAoE on Dark Servant - base. When the warwolves are running through the tar patch like its nothing or when the Carnie strongmen are trying to pound my little head to mush, I hug the dark servant for uber debuffing.

6 slots of inexpensive dampened spirits puts my level 50 MM at 56% tohitdebuff, 96% recharge, and 68% endurance cost reduction. Dampened gives me 2% dmg boost, max endurance +1.8%, increased negative energy resistance 2.5%, increase recharge time by 5% (not shabby), and decreased duration of mezzes by 7.5%.

I have an easy 25% global accuracy bonus from glimpse of the abyss in Fearsome Stare, Trap of the hunter in my Immobilization power, and Neuronic Shutdown in my Hold power. I know that global accuracy doesn't apply to mastermind pets. I seriously don't know if Dark Servants are included in that exception or not. The global is in effect when the Dark Servant is summoned.

  3. A fully slotted forcefields defender "heals" 95% of incoming damage. It also has a toggle mez protection power.
  4. Call me nutty, but I like 6 slots of Dampened Spirits. The bonuses are pretty nice.
  5. It would help to see a build. The strategies you suggest sound right. I wonder about your slotting. Cold/Ice craves all the recharge you can muster. In a world of a shortage of slots, you don't need to overslot accuracy with infrigidate and sleet working for you.
  6. Early in the game, I had a Storm defender in his teens, and I thought it would be fabulous to stack Stealth on top of Steamy Mist. The instant I toggled on Stealth and detoggled Steamy Mist, I knew I had been had.
  7. I would vote for the stygian circle. A previous poster said you could use it after every battle. There is nothing to prevent you from using it DURING a battle either. They both have a lot of tools. It's certainly a matter of taste, but for me it's hard to argue with a self-heal self-endurance refill.
  8. Traps for controllers? Are you trying to completely incapacitate me with too many alts?

Flavor of the month does unpredictable things though. Who can really say.
I don't think you have the numbers to support your first statement. None of the thugs heals the mastermind. The enforcer leadership does not apply to the mastermind. The enforcer leadership does not apply to teammates and allies. The damage auras alone on the hellfire gargoyle and the demon prince have no comparison in a primary mastermind set.

These factors are independent of the flavor of the month feature. And, I know the demons were nerfed a couple times during beta.

When experienced players tinker enough with teaming and min/maxing SF squads, these demon summoning masterminds will really show what they can do.
  10. I have a demon summoning/thermal and a necro/thermal. Flaming zombies is a concept that is hard to beat . They aren't the most rare, such as trick arrow, but thermal is relatively new to the mastermind sets.

The thermal shields on the robot bubbled minions should work very well. You have an AoE heal and a nice single target heal in thermal so you don't need Repair and your single target heal works on teammates, too. Forge is a nice power to increase your pet or teammate accuracy and damage.

I skip the resurrection or put it in a different build for TFs and raids. Heat loss and melt armor are very useful. It's too bad they come so late in the development. Thaw would have little use on robots because they are fairly mez proof, but it would be a bonus on teams for dominators, corruptors, and other masterminds.

I think thermal is a very useful set, and it only gets better as you level up. Give it a whirl. You can always re-roll, but I don't think you will.
  11. I would NOT put off upgrade robot to level 35. Take it at level 32 and let the fireworks ensue. Aid Other with your 4 minute bubbles should be plenty along with mutual protector bot heals to delay if not obsoleting the need for Repair. I am just saying repair will be required a LOT less than if you were /dark or some other non-defensive build.

I like your build; I just tweaked it a bit. With manuvers a little earlier, it will help with the tough patch between 20 and 26.
  12. Scorpion shield stacks with dispersion bubble, making your mastermind much, much safer. I most always go with scorpion shield on robot masterminds to stack with their little bubble on the mastermind, too.
  13. I would say Frostworks isnt a must have for every situation, but there are definitely situations where it is very useful. My Cold Corr ran a lot with a Dark Brute, and he loved all the cold buffs including frostworks making his job a lot easier.

    Demon Prince

First, I did a big double take the first time I realized the ember demon healed the mastermind in addition to the other minions.

Second, have you checked out the radius of the ember shield that projects around the ember demon? It's huge.

Damage auras on mastermind pets, multiple pets really change things up. When the pets go into melee mode, everything seems to pile up on my mastermind and pets making my heal auras on my thermal and by extension to /dark and /pain sets really more effective.

For the most part, I like the attack sequence of the pets, this AI seems superior. The pets fire off a couple ranged attacks and then close to melee range, again for the piling up theme I discussed before. This won't get nerfed but it is superior. The minions don't chase things down and aggro extra groups nearly as much as necros or ninjas do.

The cold, damage, slow, sleep aspects of the auras on the demon prince seem really over the top, too. In short, demons do a LOT of what I would call passive damage.

I don't think demons/thermal is overpowered as much as say /dark or /traps. FFG + ember shield would be sick and wrong.

    Demon Prince

I finally leveled up to 27 and have played with the demon prince summon long enough to figure out: I have teamed with this guy before, but he looks different.

I play a demon summoning/thermal. Now I only bother with shields on the bosses, and then Frosty just hits him with a Mag whatever hold and freezes the longbow boss for the duration of the fight. I plan to slot pacing of the turtle with some generic acc/dmg to really get things down to a crawl.

The more I level DS/thermal, the more I hope they don't hit the demons with a nerf bat, but I think it's coming. Dooooooooooom.
  16. If you are including shivans, you can include snow beasts from the winter event, too.
  17. Specifically. Bots/storm. I know my signature refers to defenders, but masterminds are defenders with extra durable pets.

I would point out that radiation emission has some click debuffs that aren't affected by mez: lingering radiation and EM Pulse.

Both cold and rad have some powers that just defy comparison: accelerated metabolism, choking cloud, EM Pulse, sleet, and heat loss. I would include arctic fog for the protection to slows, too.
  19. This is was touched on in another thread discussing buffs and debuffs. My personal opinion is that they are equally powerful yet very different power sets. I have a level 50 radiation emission defender and will someday soon despite altitis have a Cold defender at level 50. I do have an Ice/Cold corruptor but that's barking up a horse of a different color.

    Buff vs Debuff

I don't hear so much a difference between buff and debuff as anchors vs. click powers. Cold is click except for snowstorm; I always take snowstorm. Dark is mostly debuff, with one anchor that is pretty sweet, but can be hard to track. Trick arrow and Traps are both very clicky no toggles, but nice debuffs. Forcefield is mainly buff, has a toggle buff, and no anchors. Empathy is all clicks, all buffs. Storm is mostly all debuff, it has clicks, toggles, and an anchor in snowstorm; I always take snowstorm. I have to add that storm plays like no other defender set. I guess most defender sets are pretty different. Happy Alting!

    Rad Emission

I like Rad emission. I have a number of alts using it. It's also a flexible set meaning you don't have just one prime cookie cutter build you must follow. In fact my rads take advantage of the dual build feature where you can level up a second set of powers for your character starting at level 10. It's very handy.

Due love for gale is noted, but O2 is NOT worthless, especially on teams. It prevents stuns, sleeps, and endurance drain. It's the anti-sapper power.

I admit, I love most everything CoH has come out with. AE is a great innovation even though there were folks that found exploits and when the exploits were plugged, people left and cried foul. I will solo AE material when I am feeling adventurous and not just to earn cheap xp.

A lot of the features of this game were in a little game called "Freedom Force" which wasn't an MMO, but you could network and fight with or against other characters in user created content which they referred to as 'mods'.

    I am 72 mo.s and going strong. I hope for another 72.
  24. Sorry this thread has grown faster than I have been able to keep up. I am old I guess.

Two points I would bring up:

The Rikti aren't evil. They are acting in self-defense to provocation by powers from this world in an attack on theirs, no?

By whose defnition are the Rularuu evil? I guess my point is that alien points of view are another facet in the crazy, puppy killer faction. Is an alien desire to be dominant in the universe any more evil that human's desire to fill the vastness of space with colonies? True villains are the ones who know the societal boundaries and attempt to achieve his goals regardless of the rules or consequences.
