  1. If you start arguing in different languages, you automatically lose.
  2. I thought Ghost Falcon was the go-to lore guy. That might have been Hero 1.

BackAlleyBrawler is animations, JLove (Sexy Jay) is costume pieces... even they probably don't know what this falls under.
  3. Oh jeez stop posting til I figure out this multiquote thing

  6. What's the point of opening an atomic test site if nobody's willing to nuke it?
  7. Remember, you vote with your wallet. By buying Going Rogue, you've effectively saying to the devs and producers "I APPROVE OF THIS EXPANSION AND WILL PURCHASE MORE LIKE IT".
  8. That and the entire Cathedral of Pain concept- that is, multiple teams working together- seems to be of the outdated MMO mindset that CoH has moved past. This game doesn't have WoW-style 'raids', besides the Mothership and Hamidon, of which the former has few tactics beyond 'rampaging horde' (and we love it that way), and the latter is considered a niche thing.

And us Aussies have been lumped in with the Yanks from the start.

  11. I've seen plenty of lists, charts and spreadsheets around here detailing the thematic links between powersets that share styles- Fire, Ice, Dark, etc- but I just came to thinking, while there's a lot of talk on the styles and how they match up, there's not so much on the themes they share- the damage types, secondary effects, and strategies that the powersets all have in common no matter what kind of set they are (control, blast, melee, defense). For instance:

Fire: All damage, all the time. That's really how I'd put it- every single set in this game with Fire in the name (or something similar) is marked by having lots of damage to go with whatever its main function is (in the case of damage sets, MORE DAMAGE), at the expense of secondary mitigation or pretty much anything else.

Cold: The opposite- Cold sets are characterised by slows, -recharge, and hard and soft mezzes.

Energy: Knockback. Nuff said. Though the melee version has Stuns instead, presumably because plenty of other melee sets have knockback galore.

Dark: Best way I can put it- Dark sets are weird. -tohit and Disorients are common, but Dark sets all seem to be very different from other sets of their type, with unusual types of powers, multiple effects, and layered defenses. They all seem to end End suckers though.

Electric: Endurance drain, and complaining that it doesn't do anything worthwhile

I could use one of those theme spreadsheets to help think it over.
  12. I had an interesting experience tonight. I decided to join a AE team since I was that bored, and they gave me the star. Since I couldn't find a mission I liked, I noticed that the team were mostly in the same level range and decided to drag them out of the AE building to do missions. The team was surprisingly competent, besides the 13 year old with a terrible build and typical attitude, but even he was fairly well behaved, and eventually left with the other newbie to try to get his next costume slot, and we were left with mostly competent players. Pwnage ensued, though I had to tell the Corr to go get his nuke.

I'm starting to get the hang of my Dark/Dark Corruptor too. It's weird, but effective.
  13. Makes me wonder how many MxO refugees there are in this game.

Roll a MA/SR Scrapper with a trencoat and you're pretty much home!
  14. If you think you've seen DOOM, you ain't seen nothin yet.

    Moon Hazard Zone

Raising the level cap will make large amounts of game content obselete, and pretty much break the game. It's not a good idea just because other MMOs do it. In fact, it doesn't seem to be a good idea in those MMOs either, they don't seem to realise that they're effectively wasting all of the development time and money that went into everything at the previous level cap.
  16. If this game implemented open PVP, it would lose many, many more players than it could ever hope to gain. Myself included.
  17. Some Defenders CAN already buff themselves (Force Bubble, Siphon Speed). Allowing people to use their buffs on themselves would be retardedly broken (see: 3.5 D&D Clerics).

I think Vigilance has the right idea, being an endurance discount, but it's worse than useless in its current state.
  18. The CoP was, from what I hear, incredibly broken on implementation and would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Not to mention the entire Item of Power system was scrapped for Inventions in the meantime, PvP is more unpopular than ever, and bases updates seem to have been scrapped, nobody is optimistic about it anymore.
  19. I always get Confuse purples...

Well, cept that one melee purple, I'm still spending all the profits from that one.

Y'know, purples are really a good incentive for newbies to get the impression that AE will leave them utterly gimped.

I play Fire/Fire blasters (and a lot of /Fire blasters in general). I also play a Storm/Rad defender. For what its worth, I disagree with your assessment of Rad's AoE potential.

    This.

Irradiate has DS just a shade lower than Psy Shockwave, but a way faster cast.

Electron haze does about the same damage as Frost breath, but with a faster cast so ends up almost smack dab in the middle of Frost Breath and Fire Breath in terms of DPA.

Neutron Bomb is just your standard ranged AoE, same as explosive blast, M30, bit better than Exploding arrow, bit lower than ball lightning (but this is dot), lower than Fireball.

The set is much better than average in terms of aoe output. Has acceptable st, and huge utility. It is also one of the best sets for IO'ing.
Hey, I didn't realise Rad Blast was that good.

Mind you, Kin is kind of an oddball pairing with it.
  21. If it's your first villain, completely skip the AE. There's some of the best content in the game from 1-50.
  22. Marmite is terrible.
