  1. You wouldn't know that reading some of the Stalker posts around here.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Yet as I pointed out before, if the complaint is about Controllers with Hurricane, then the complaining belongs in the Controller or the PvP forums, not here in the Defender forum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, yet I'm not the one that started the thread here. Actually, I wouldn't start a thread like this at all, in any forum heh.
  3. That's why I said Controller. I don't think anyone really complains about Defenders nearly as much.
  4. A properly buffed Hurricane-using Controller can incapacitate an entire team... especially in a base with lots of nooks and crannies. I've seen it done. Not even Tanks have that kind of power in PvP.

The whole "get a team" argument is nonsense when the Stormy has one too. Especially it it's a team that's buffing the crap out of him/her.

***Before I get rammed for wanting Hurricane nerfed, I'll add this disclaimer: I don't. However, some of you like to downplay the effectiveness of this power. It is an extremely effective and downright insane power when placed in the right hands and backed by the right buffs. If you're going to make comments like "Well get a team!!!," you have to recognize that the Stormies are in teams as well. Ironically enough, this is where the power becomes unbalanced, IMO.
  5. I'm having trouble uploading these binds...

I'm using the "Version 2 (Text Files)" method. When I input the one command, I get get an error and it won't work.

Specifially, I'm trying to activate this bind from my directory:
    /bindloadfile C:\City of Heroes-Villains\City of Heroes\covbinds\Battery\Robot.txt

When I do, I get the following error message:
    "Usage:bindloadfile take 1 args, you gave 5.
Reads a list of keybinds from a file.
    bindloadfile <string>"

What in the world does that mean and what am I doing wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Sonofa... I just figured it out! *slaps forehead* My Directory path is too long. D'oh!

    scrappers!

    BAH!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Also, I'm on your side here: Hurricane doesn't need to be nerfed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think Hurricane needs a direct nerf, however, Repel needs suppression. If I can't Perma-Hold/Perma-KB/Perma-Fear someone, then I shouldn't be able to perma Repel someone into a corner with zero chance for escape either.
If Knockback warrants suppression, so does Repel. It's only fair.

Confusion and Phase control powers don't have suppression either, but they should be tossed into the chamber as well IMO.

    Badge Questions

That would be a real waste. It's a nice looking badge and someone obviously spent some quality time on it. Ah well, them's the breaks.
  8. That chart can't be right. I play my Blaster frequently in melee range and I'm almost always at 50% HP or less by the end of a fight. My Defiance bar does. not. move. unless I'm at 10-15% or so, and even then it's barely worth mentioning.

I'm not noticing any increase in damage, but I can't say for certain it's not there. Perhaps the Defiance bar needs to work on a scale of 100s to make it a bit more obvious.
  9. I'd guess pets would be unaffected as well. It just brings up a slew of questions about certain power combos though. Will Aim boost Thorntrops? Will Powerboost affect Ice Slick? The possibilities are endless...
  10. I wonder how far this will extend. Using inspirations or self-buffs before casting controller/dominator pets comes to mind...
  11. I think this is great news, but I'm a naturally pessimistic person. So, true to form, I must ask: What about PvP?
This seems like a purely PvE change, considering the nature of what was described.
As far as PvP is concerned though, Defense still lacks, primarily because of the abundance of ToHit modifiers in the game and how it all figures into the ToHit equation.

PvP lvl 30 and below is right where it should be as far as Def is concerned (IMO). In Warburg (lvl 38) and upper tier Arena matches though, Defense is a joke unless you have Elude, Overload or that Ninjitsu lvl 38 power maxed out with Defense SOs.

While I certainly appreciate the improvement to the PvE game, I certainly hope the PvP aspect is still being looked at.

The tactic has to be considered griefing only because you can end up leaving a toon stuck somewhere with no way out. If you consider it griefing because it gives the TPer an advantage, I respectfully disagree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, my sarcastic bias aside, I "kinda" agree with you. I don't consider it griefing simply because it gives someone an advantage. If this were the case, I would whine about Hurricane, Phase Shift, insert power X here... but I don't.

I consider it griefing because it is. It was considered griefing a year and some months ago with Recall Friend, why would TP Foe be any different? There's a precedent I followed to make my statement.

Even if you weren't aware of the precedent, it doesn't take much common sense to realize that the tactic "could" be considered griefing. This is where the "Devs did't say otherwise, so it must be ok" justification nonsense kicks in.
Perhaps I'm assuming too much, but it just seems like people "knew" it was an exploit, but they blatantly disregarded the negative by using flawed logic.

Personally, I like to think ahead and use some intuition. The moment I heard someone doing this, I knew what the response would be. It doesn't seem all that hard to believe that the abusers didn't think it as well, which is why I think they're scrambling to justify illigitimate tactics.

So, it's done by making broad attempts to legitimize the exploiting of obviously broken game mechanics in order to gloss over a lack of coherent PvP ability. Gotcha.

Your lack of common sense and foresight doesn't legitimize anything. You sound like all those that tried to justify the clicky PL method from way back when. Just because Mommy and Daddy didn't spank you when you were bad doesn't give you free reign to beat up on kids in the school yard. That should be a given.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree with Strato.
    [ QUOTE ]
TPing a foe into a tower and killing them, IMO is not griefing. It is using terrain to your advantage.

TPing a foe into a tower and just leaving them there with no way out is griefing, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not griefing unless it's being done to grief someone. If you cant tell the difference between the two I am not going to bother trying to explain it to you again.

I don't understand your logic in saying one thing must mean you do/did the other. Not once did I ever use the clicky missions just to PL a character, I happen to enjoy making sure EVERYTHING in a mission is not moving when I complete the mission and this includes all instanced missions (I play a Stalker as my main Villain). Seeing you point that out though must mean you did use the blinky missions to PL characters, why else would it be your come back/put down unless it's a guilty conscience? See how silly that sounds?

Do not make generalizations about people you know nothing about simply because they disagree with you and have an opinion of their own.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What generaliation? I'm stating a fact, yes FACT, about how the towers were never intended for this use. By looking at your Reg date, I would assume you would know better.

Using terrain to your advantage is one thing. Locking characters inside inescapable terrain, that was deemed griefing well over a year ago, is not.

Learn the difference. If you don't get it, then I'll continue to explain it to you until it sinks in.

Also, I base these "generalizations" on what I read here. I call it as I see it. No "generalization" about it.
I was equating the PL clicky exploit to this mentality. Quote the part where I said that TP Foe griefers must've done it. Oh right, you can't.

Time to 6-slot your reading comprehension.

EDIT: And who the hell are you anyway? My post wasn't even directed towards you...
  14. So, it's done by making broad attempts to legitimize the exploiting of obviously broken game mechanics in order to gloss over a lack of coherent PvP ability. Gotcha.

  15. What baffles me is that some of you actually believed it WAS valid at all.

Was it arrogance? Lack of common sense? No concept of the obvious? Or just plain old ignorance?
  16. I think there's a 2nd Respec Accolade as well. I could've sworn I've seen someone with "Thorn Raider" or something like that.
  17. I don't know if anyone's used this response, but I chose SS over EM because I've already been there/done that. I have a lvl 50 Ice/EM Tank. Running through 50 more levels with a powerset I've already used extensively just doesn't seem all that thrilling to me. I like diversity!
  18. Are there any badges for Luddites?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    3) It requires not one +Perception power. Not two +Perception powers. It requies three +Perception powers to detect Stealth + Hide. This requires that a hero be lucky enough to have access to Glacial Shield (Ice/* Tankers), Minerals (Stone/* Tankers), Focused Senses (*/Super Reflexes Scrappers), Cloak of Shadows (*/Dark Armor Scrappers), Targetting Drone (*/Devices Blasters), or Shadow Cloak (Warshades); AND Tactics; AND buy IR Goggles. If you do not have access to one of the above powers, you're just SOL; as has been confirmed repeatedly, if you're not a Defender, Tactics and IR Goggles will not be enough to see a Stalker who's using Stealth + Hide at the same time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not completely true. Glacial Armor can see through Hide+Stealth (within an approximate 30 yard radius) entirely on it's own.

    Accuracy

This is contrary to almost every experience I've had in this game. I must say though... if it IS broken, I hope it stays that way in PvP. This idea would just suck for Defense and ToHit Debuff sets in PvP.

    Quills? Please?

Quills is the most annoying sound in the whole damn game.

    And that's coming from a Dark/Dark Scrapper.

I play a Spines/DA and an Ice Tank, 2 of the noisiest sets out there... and I don't have a problem with either. These "fades' need to be made optional. They don't bother all of us.
