Stone/Stone

True on the -recharge, but with 3 +Chance for Recharge slotted in Fault, and one in each of the Hammers, -recharge of granite is countered easy. Also, I believe the toon has 35-36% recharge, because the build is not accounting the five slotted Red Fortune.
Its a cheaper way to get recharge than LotG or purple sets, as long as one is spamming the attacks.

Look, you can plug the "Psi hole", go for regen, recharge, recovery, ect. Its not my build. I went for things that I needed, like recovery, extra HP, and a little bit of Psi protection. The small amount of regen bonus is there because the sets were there, and I had the recipes. Plus they were the only set bonus's I wanted.

This is a great PvE Herding/ Aggro Cap build.I get by without the medicine pool just fine, and with Tank numbers, an alike build would be even tougher. On that note, Im not sure if you need tough, as you may be at the S/L resistance cap with Granite and Stone Skin slotted. Weave would help a bit however.

Without Hasten, Im able to spam Fault , Heavy and Stone Mallet and Stone Fist with Brawl. I dont need to goto another attack like boulder or Tremor unless I want to, so all my main heavy attacks are always up in mobs. Its quite nice.

Its a "budget" build thats quite effective for what I want to do with it.
Hope this helps.

Stone/Stone

I have a lvl 50 stone stone brute build. This is a post granite /patron arc respec. Set Bonus's I went for where recovery and just enough recharge to counter granite
Slot Granite with some End Red IOS, and get some force feedback Chance for +Recharge
In the actual build, I have 5 slots in Weave for the recharge bonus from the red fortune set. Also, stone fist has a +Chance for recharge, which mids doesnt allow I'm fairly sure.

Pre Granite, slot for end reduction and accuracy. Damage will happen through fury gen.
Hitting the aggro cap is easy with taunt and mudpots. So is holding it against most mobs.

4. Im going for a PvE Damage Dealer. Got the chance for stamina, the Miracle IO, and I slotted EMP pulse with chance for disorient. O yeah, I also love to nuke, AIM EMP RoF & Inferno FTW for me. I still have some stamina issues which I am working on. Would another slot in AM as End Mod help? Another End Redu slot in Enervating Field? As and when I get more Purple Range and PBAoEs they will be slotted.

7. Hey thanks a lot Morty, my mentor, and game introducer! You have been teaching me pretty much everything I know, from the early MMO manners, to what the alphabet acronyms mean. Sheltering me as a noob, to building mini team toons, its been great, and great to play with you.

Im not all that in PvP, but those sandwiches keep coming to me, via TP foe or just trying to eat me back.

Thank you to all I have played with, eaten, and been eaten by. Its been quite a ride. For the peeps who doubt the power of a good trapper, send a tell @Dantethestoic, and I will try to show you how to work the traps for max set bonus's and opponent -recharge. Hitting over -200% recharge with stock traps and patron powers unslotted is easy!

Thanks again to @Morty(dedicated a biography to Norty Morty), @DAN, @Wharfadelic, @FoxyBimbo, @SepticSoul, @PowerDoll, you all are great players, and have helped me out a lot.O yeah, and "MothersLove" for always being a great PvP sandwi.. I mean PvP sport.

I know there a lot I am missing, but its early for me.

One Love CoX Union Crew!

8. Your Private Dancer here.
My SG, the "Union Villain Battle College" is now recruiting students, teachers, and assistant Deans.

This is a new SG, with few luxuries or items to start out with. We are focusing on storage, then Teleport Portals.

I am recruiting tactical minded players, who can adapt to different teams and problems (tough missions, bosses, ect) while maximizing their strengths. PvPers are also quite welcome.

Your hard earned prestige will not be spent on decorative or non functional items, unless we end up with vaultloads of prestige. This is an active SG, so I do expect all villians enrolled in the "UVBC" to be active villains, and spend the majority of time in SG mode.

Please send a tell to "@dantethestoic" if you are interested in joining this exciting and growing College.

11. Two sets of traps: Set up two piles, with acid mortar in middle. Lead them to one set. Pile up on the other. Wait. Repeat.

Pesky Hornet: Smart PvPers know that to stop aggro from a MM in BG mode, just dont attack. Put one of your second tier pets on "aggro/attack my target". If pet gets damaged, swap out for other second tier. Basically, dont let your opponent rest. Keep up some pressure.

Layered Traps: In RV and WB, a lot of rooftops, angled rooftops and ledges. Set up trip mines at one level, then on next ledge or a bit higher, another cluster of mines and traps. A good example would be the dome top of building next to the "Globe" in RV. Sometimes TPing the SuperSpeeder/Flyers to the traps sets off the traps, but to no damage to target. The "Layered Dip/traps" tactic stops this.

Telegank: Eight Mines Minimum: At 10% chance to drop toggle per mine, plus your odds of an instakill, make this the way to wolf down that Hero Sandwich. As soon as they appear, pets on aggro, and throw a webnade at them, to slow them if they live. Slow down the speeders and ground the flyers. Better yet, use the Mace Mastery Web Cocoon, its your Siphon Speed. Always set your Heavy to Aggro/Follow Me, and TP target to traps and Heavy for even more uber Pwn.

In RV, capture those turrets, set up traps on one side, and TP your foe to them, and set all aggro. You should be safe for a moment from all but very skilled or smart players, and storm power sets. This is the most wicked Telegank of all, as you can TP to Traps, Turrets, and Heavy. Just really funny to wipe out hero's really quick. Three Simultaneous AS strikes might do it, but hey, you can do it by yourself! Also, you should have at least 11 pets with your original 6, plus Heavy plus Four turrets. The peak of MastermindDom!

Temp Powers: St Louis Slammer, Gabriels Hammer, Revolver. All of those temp powers I keep stocked and use them often in PvP, especially as finishers. IMVO , most masterminds have invested little into the ranged primary attacks. The Temps work great in PvP, its always fun to split that scrapper's head wide open, and take a screeny of it. They have totally helped me win fights in PvP duels and battles.

Having a bait fish: A willing squishy to act as bait can be one of the best tactics ever, if for a little while. Use the environment to your advantage, set up your MM shop, and dangle the bait. Ideally, you and pets will be hidden, the bait will head towards the trap (you) and you will TP or engage the "biter" foe somehow. Not everyone makes the mental "about to eat a squish" to "Now I am Bait" transition succesfully or alive. Some get upset that you are coming between them and their prey, not realizing their true role in the Darwinian PvP zone.

Mayhem Mission Side Mission Temp Powers: Lots of great things in there for MM's and PvP. Kinetic Shield, HyperPhase, Temp Weapons, they all add something to the mix, and most of them add survivability when obtained and used proper. A half hour of phase shift has lasted me over 300+ pvp rep and 8+ levels. It has been a livesaver, Ill cry when its gone. These temps can add a lot to a MM's game. FARM THE MAYHEMS.

Adapt a strategy of Nature. Traps? Think like a trapdoor spider or ambush predator. All your "toggles" should be up and running maximum (trip mines+poison trap). You want to overwhelm and eat your foe, without getting scratched. Because predators dont like to get hurt, and try to kill so quickly and so efficiently that the chance of personal injury is limited. Adopt that mentality, of ambush and overpowering force. It works.

12. If you have taken traps, you must be a Corrupter or a Mastermind. Do you want to PvP with those traps? Read on!

WebNade: Is your first anti-fly -recharge immobilize power you get. For PvP low levels such as Bloody Bay or Sirens Call, I suggest one accuracy and one endurance reduction to start. I would also slot a range, but you may wish to slot Immobilize duration. Remember, spam two or three at the beginning of a fight, then one about every ten seconds to keep the stack and - movement and -recharge going.
Later levels, slot it with a set and or IO's. Its pretty thirsty for blue, and later on you can get Web Envelope, an AoE webnade from Black Scorpion (a Patron).

Caltrops: Use em love, slot em for recharge and endo reduction first, as they are pretty close to the slow cap. Later on, a Set or IO's depending on your preference. I like to WebNade, Caltrop, and Poison Trap in that order. Get em stuck, on a DoT, and puking for a few animations. Plus, with proper slotting between those three powers you can slow your opponents attack rate over 140%. That counters a Granite Tanks Hasten (yes I have tested). If they cannot recharge to attack you, they cannot kill you. Throw the caltrops on em after you have them stopped. To valuable in PvP to waste, except in Warburg, where you should throw them at your feet wherever you are as a sign of "stalker respect".

Traige Beacon: Never really liked it, probably usefull for a Ranged Robot/Merc type MM or Corru/Trapper. If you want it, may be worth it for a set bonus or IO's at later levels.

Acid Mortar: Amazing Debuff to Res and Defense, and Amazing Accuracy. A lot of Brutes and Tanks will smash it, only to have me drop one again a few seconds later. Slot it for recharge (3) asap, then debuffs. Avoid accuracy. This is your personal foe debuff tool, if it and the FFG and Poison Trap are not out, you are not being a good trapper. This is what enables a MM to kill those Granites and such!

FFG: Slot it with three defense buffs ASAP, and later on a set. If you telegank, hide and lose the bubble, pop it up later when you are fighting foes, to not have a "IM HERE" beacon on the map. Get it, use it. Its great.

Poison Trap: MUST HAVE for any trapper. It makes +4 Heros(Manticore and such) puke. Its a great toggle breaker and attack rate slower. It can be slotted for slow or hold, I went with slow at first, then the Paralytic set for recovery bonus later levels. Six Slot this as soon as you have the slots. When they are puking, go all out, set those pets on aggro, drop your nuke, just maximize that time they are puking.

Seeker Drones: The Jury is still out on this one for me folks. I need to throw more slots in them and dont have the slots. Still, likely worth getting, as they take ranged and stun sets, the possibilities for gimping the Drones is limitless (chance for hold, knockdown, energy damage, ect). We shall see.

Trip Mines: The reason you PvP as a trapper of course. They need some sort of accuracy bonus, so slot for that depending on Tactics and Set Accuracy Bonus's. Also, slot them for recharge. Lay down at least 6-8 of them in a very tight cluster, TP foe, BOOM the life bar vanishes like a noob taking a Multi AV alpha. Its quite funny actually. Dont bother to try to TP someone unless you have at least 6 and really at least 8 mines. This is your Insta-Kill, you can kill people quicker than a stalker, or any other AT in the game in PvP with Trip Mines. The more you set, the quicker the kill really. REMEMBER, you are a trapper, so adopt a trapper mentality. Think like a trapdoor spider or ambush predator, and come up with some good trap tactics.
If you can TP foe to a proper set of mines and traps, your primary should have little or no work to do after. Your job is to overwhelm and ambush your prey instantly, and leave them dead or very weak and easy to kill after your fist contact. That is why being patient, laying lots of mines and setting up traps is the way to maximize your strength. Not many other builds can have a "toggle" on screen stacked 12 times if they want. Take advantage of it m8s!

Detonator: Never used it, may use it. I see wicked potential with this and teaming with a kinetic, speed boosting your bomber . It is the Trap MM's greatest chance of dropping a toggle. Ten trip mines going off at once also has a fair chance of dropping a toggle or two. Jury still out.

Leadership Pool: Assault and Tactics are great for PvP, Tactics is pretty much mandatory for it. IMVO it doesnt need to hit buffs, as thats the job your mortar does. I slotted Assault with two endo reductions and Tactics with three, until I got to a high level, and respeced two slots in each, both with Endo reductions.

TP FOE: If you trap and PvP, you must get this. Depending on Tactics and set accuracy bonus's, slot it for range and accuracy. Mine is slotted only with two Range IO's as I have a fairly good accuracy bonus and run Tactics.

Strategies for TP FOE: Put pets in stay, run out and find prey, set traps while prey is unaware, and gank. Use the environment to stay out of sight.

When on an angled roof, or dome, or next to a ledge put some trip mines a little higher or lower than the others. Also throw out your caltrops at the slightly higher level. When you TP Foe to traps (in between the altitudes of traps) he will set off both layers and might be stuck in the caltrops for a moment also. Sometimes TPing the flyers or Superspeeders to traps sets them off, but with no damage to target, this tactic prevents that. If possible, webnade then TP foe so they are "pre grounded". Use the environment. Use the train station in RV, the little bridges next to hero beach in WB, ect. Make it hard for your prey to escape basically.

Patron Powers: The Mace Mastery is best for a Trapper and PvP IMHO. The shield stacks great with the FFG, and you get access to an AoE webnade and a Hold in Web Cocoon. Both these powers are also - recharge and - movement. Stack them with Webnade, Caltrops, and Poison Trap. You are crippling your enemies, and basically Syphon Speeding the SuperSpeeders.

Hasten: May be needed or preferred for a corru/trapper. Not sure if its needed for a MM trapper. Slowing down your enemies so much, one may not need hasten. Personal preference, but I know serious PvP ers get it early if they want it.

TimeBomb: Never used it, so srry, it seems like a pain in the [censored]. Possibly if you had someone puking in multiple poison traps.

Break it down gang. All fun.

13. 8ngaHroSndwch (with heavy) was able to sloowly take out Manticore today solo in RV. Ooo yeah.
I took a screeny, Manti gave up the Dead Eye Badge. I had to spawn all my pets at least 3 times, and buffed my heavy. Two turrets were already destroyed when I got there, but a poison trap(s) had Manti puking like a good hero sandwich.

PS.. this is really where i felt the aoe and ranged defense set bonus come into play.
14. PrivateDancer

Tankermind?

"Now with tanking in mind, (solo, team, PvE, PvP, against big groups, against AV's, all of it), what combination do you think would be able to take the most damage before face planting? "

I would have to say thug/poison or thug/ traps. We all know I love ninja, but they just dont take damage well. Poison trap makes all heros/AVs so far puke a few times. Thats when pets should go aggro, while the enemy is helpless.

With MM's you can get Black Scorpions Patron Shield, that plus FFG + CJ+ ACRO, you will be able to walk into big huge mobs, and plant that poison trap. With that in mind, is why I also stacked the "Blood Mandate" pet set in all my pets, for the recovery and insane Ranged and AoE defense it provides. Ranged and AoE attacks are my MM's nightmare. Melee types = I dont have to come to you to lay trap at your feet.

With traps, getting that poison trap to stack itself will enable you to tank everything pretty much (fire armor disclaimer). Between your acid mortar debuff, tactics, and your own buffs (FFG, CJ?, patron shield) you should be melting them away.

In pvp, AoE is your enemy. Its worse for my PvP ish ninja trap MM than Illusionists, Elude, and a lot of other scary stuff. Example, my purely PvE AoE specced fire rad was able to beat a Merc/ Dark MM by spamming all my AoE stuff. Stuff that hits you and pets at same time especially while in BG mode is very very bad.

I suspect that for tanking through all the levels, thugs or necro with poison or traps.
For levels 40+, I kinda suspect that Merc/Traps or Mercs FFG/Poison would be unbelievable, and basically shred all to bits. TP foe is great for MMs, even better for PvP and if you get TP self as a travel power. Seriously, if you have the patience to wait for a build to pay off, Mercs could really be the ticket. BTW, Tanking with a ninja trap MM is entirely possible and fairly easy with a bit of planning.

15. Thank you Mighty and Motion.

You both have given me lots of ideas on how to add a bit of flavor to this sandwich. Hami-O's..

Mighty, how would you recommend to tweak slotting to get more LOTG in, because without Hasten, Poison trap almost almost stacks. Stacking it would be lovely. It has over 80 percent recharge right now. Please tell me your ideas man.

I may end up slotting Web Cocoon with another complete "pacing of the turtle" set for even more defense and accuracy bonus, and slotting less on Detonator.

Also, not showing is the three "Positrons" on acid mortar that would give another 2.5 recovery and 9% accu. That and tactics, with the the "flyover mortar debuff", its hitting pretty fair for me

Please drop your thoughts ideas and critiques. I will get stealth in run, and already got knockback in brawl.

Thanks again:

16. Thanks for the response Motion.

Everything is slotted at 53 because of my inexperience with Hero Builder. Average level of my Set IO's is 36-40. Im not really going for level 53 on all or any.

The accuracy bonus came with the defensive bonus's for the Slow and Immobilize sets mostly, which I wanted for the defensive bonus. My trip mines are slotted for damage and recharge, not accuracy, so it does help a bit there, and my TP foe is also not slotted for accuracy, thats where the accuracy set bonus's come into play for me. TP foe is pretty accurate now and needed with traps and PvP.

Hmm. Stealth in Run, or Knockback in Brawl.. The stealth is possible, I dont use brawl anymore, I do buy a lot of temp weapons for PvP and duels, but now I am thinking about it.

My whole idea with the set bonus's for me was to avoid the Fitness Pool and stamina with Recovery Bonus's, and bump up my ranged and AoE defense as much as I could. All the other set bonus's are nice but not part of my goal.

With the Patron Scorpion Shield for melee/energy/toxic defense/resist, and the FFG to stack with that and my set bonus's, the defense is really really nice. As good as a scrapper at least. I really wanted to stack the AoE and Ranged to counter Heavies in RV and Blasters/Ranged attackers. The AoE defense is nice against Nukes and such also.

Thanks again for your comments man. Very appreciated.

17. From Mids Hero Builder, my MM "8ngaHroSndwch's" likely final build.
There should be bonus' for Positrons Blast in Acid Mortar, to improve Recovery and such, but they are not shown.
I like my "D" with the FFG and Scorpion Shield, now its nice.

ps: plz rip it apart be brutal!
18. For the build pre stamina, I would slot stone fist with 3 endurance reductions, and spam it until stamina. I slot all my attacks on my stone stone with 3 Endurance reductions first, then accu, then recharge. You should have PLENTY of stayinthefight power, so rely on fury for your damage output.
I might also swap TP foe for TP friend, as it is much more PvE friendly for a stone armor brute.

The fighting pool does add some "Toughness" to you. Im not sure its needed for a stoney with granite for PvE.
Not to sure why you are getting Taunt so late, or why. With your AoE attacks, try slotting a taunt into one or two of them, and you may find you are getting the perfect amount of aggro.

19. Heya,
I gotta say I tasted that hero once or twice.

You are a tasty hero sandwich, grats on the 50, it makes you only more appetizing in my eyes! Dont change the recipe!

20. Wow:
Today about 30 minutes ago in WB, I dueled a fire/energy blaster(REAL), a grav/ Energy Dom, and Elec/Invun? Brute all at the same time. And I won!

After a bit of dueling in WB, I asked the others for a two v one, they responded with a 3 v 1. After some negotiation, we began, with the brute "Thunder something" saying "ready" and charging in.

I tpfoed the blaster to primary group of traps, BOOM he dead
now the Dom and singularity are causing problems. I webnade Dom to ground, ninja finish off while I slow down brute with webnades and tech taser dart.
Finally I grind down the brute, and all three are dead whew!
The brute said I was cheating, but strangely, the other two were not accusing me of that.

What a feeling guys! A 3 v 1, and walked away, and better yet, it was not that tough. Those guys really didnt have a game plan, and did not play well together. I totally thought I was a goner. I was more worried about the Dom and the player playing the dom than the other two with those alts right then. (DOMINATION FTW)

So I want to say, agianst the builds that seem made to counter MMs (fire armor spine attacks) I do ok. Mostly I lose, but hey its fun.

The sets that I do good against, I do really really good against.
Aiming for AoE and Ranged Defense, recovery and accu bonus's have made my MasterMind a TankerMind. Able to walk up to mobs, drop the poison trap and hope the trip mines go off b4 ninja kill all is the story of the day. Having Heavies in RV and blasters with AIM and BU miss me a lot is also very nice. I didnt focus on melee defense because of the FFG and patron power shield. Also, any that runs up to melee range gets a poison trap dropped down , with caltrops. That counts as my poison defense.

Well hey, a 3 v 1 is possible with a good MM. O yeah baybee!

21. It also depends on your secondary. Is something debuffing for you? Mortar? Arrow? Poison? If not..

I slotted all my ninja with full "Blood Mandate" sets. The recovery and defensive set bonus's stacked 3 times is best for my type of play and pvp. Get those blappers mad when the nuke always misses! Defense and recovery!
22. Hey there. Never rolled a Necro Poison, but have played with a few.
For "PurePvP" I would get Hasten earlier. My weakness is not having it.
Stamina: I dont think MM's need it now with the set bonus's available. I have over 20 percent recovery from my set bonus's now. That with IO endo reduction slots will keep you in the blue easy.

I was doing what you did pretty much exactly as far as slotting my Ninja. Switching them all to the same set"Blood Mandate" was overall better for MY defense and recovery. The AoE and Ranged Defense bonus from that set is 3.75%. Stacked 3 times is nice man. I wouldn't worry too much about Zombie defense and resist, they are built for melee mostly and are pretty tough. Instead, focus on YOUR defense and resist. I lost the taunt placate resist I had slotted in two pets for the defense trade off. I'm willing to stand up to a heavy in RV, cause they always seem to miss that first shot now
Personally, in PvP, rely on BG mode and not regeneration. It wont matter in PvP unless you are a regen scrapper basically, and you are not. I would explore other set bonus's to go for besides regen, like precious stamina recovery.
A lot of ranged sets give recovery bonus, the "Miracle" heal gives a great one also, especially when stacked. The Blood Mandate Pet set does also.

Possibly explore (because it is a PvP build) getting Teleport Pool for TP foe (bring em to ya) and for a secondary travel power (always great for PvP). IM my MM was pure PvP from ground up, I would get Hasten ASAP, followed by SuperSpeed as primary TravelPower. Followed by TP to TP around and TP Foe to you.

Also, for a MM PvP or not, the Leadership Pool is great. Tactics maybe the only way you can increase your perception besides popping yellows all the time. Between Tactics stock to hit buff and Poisons awesome debuffs, you should be hitting them quite often.

Later levels, I totally agree with your Patron Power. The Scorpion Shield is very nice for your defense, and will stack great with Blood Mandate for those attacks that also have a smashing value (nukes). And stealth nukage is common in PvP, so good defense and Tactics come into play even more.

Does Poison have a self heal? If not, Aid Self and Aid other are needed before probing into the Leadership Pool IMVHO.

With Scorpion Shield, I'd put and IO endo reduction in there until you can fill it with slots, then fill as you want to.

To sum it up: PvP ers generally get Hasten and Superspeed, with another TravelPower. I recommend Hasten +SS, plus Teleport.
Get Leadership. You will need the increased perception from Tactics in PvP and often in Pve later levels. Plus less wasted attacks is always nice. I'd slot it with two IO Endo Reductions. Your debuffs will provide the "to hit" slots for you hopefully.
Focus less on regeneration and more on recovery. Recovery will keep a MM alive in PvP not Regen, IMVHO.

Your Mezz resist to Confusion is soo nice. Try not to lower that at all or much if you do tinker your build. Confusion is your secret Horror in PvP, trust me...

Hope this helps a bit. And really hope to see you in action.

23. Used or been on the business end of Detonator.
The MM trap "Detonator". Who has used it in PvE and PvP? Ever team with a Kin to boost speed on yer unwilling bomber?Or even grant them Invis? O the possibilities.

Im really thinking about doing this for PvP, it would be scary scary. Detonator also does more damage and has higher chance of dropping toggles than Trip Mine. This isnt a power I would rescpec into, but get next level or two. Mostly for PvP.

Hheheh TP foe to poison trap and caltrops. Acid Mortar, then Detonator on a minion while ya puke. Then, TP foe to second pile o mines.. Man this could work! I need a sparing partner on test hehe.

24. Mids Hero Builder Numbers:

Tough = 11.3 Damage Resistance @.32 a second
Stone Skin = 7.5 Damage Resistance @ no cost a second.

I believe that Stone Skin uses a lot less Endo than Tough also, while preserving a power pool for you to use. Stone Skin is passive and always running. And costs no endo according to Mids hero planner. M8, its just a way IMVHO to save stamina, and a whole power pool.

Um yer scrapper is good. Only Fire Tanks/Brutes and you survive multiple poison traps(not counting chippy granites). Whatever you doing, its working! Id pay to see the secondary build on him! well almost..

25. I gotta say Ninja Poison or Ninja Traps. Thugs poison I have seen chop down some tough hero's. Its gotta be close to same in PvP.

Personally, great success with traps and TP foe here.
