Self Taught PvP Tactics fromanoob
Cunning ideas for any */Traps Mastermind, and the feint with your Henchmen is one I've used myself before.
I detailed most of my tools of the trade in the thread Mastermind PvP Tactics - hopefully useful to MM's of all persuasions
Wow:
Today about 30 minutes ago in WB, I dueled a fire/energy blaster(REAL), a grav/ Energy Dom, and Elec/Invun? Brute all at the same time. And I won!
After a bit of dueling in WB, I asked the others for a two v one, they responded with a 3 v 1. After some negotiation, we began, with the brute "Thunder something" saying "ready" and charging in.
I tpfoed the blaster to primary group of traps, BOOM he dead
now the Dom and singularity are causing problems. I webnade Dom to ground, ninja finish off while I slow down brute with webnades and tech taser dart.
Finally I grind down the brute, and all three are dead whew!
The brute said I was cheating, but strangely, the other two were not accusing me of that.
What a feeling guys! A 3 v 1, and walked away, and better yet, it was not that tough. Those guys really didnt have a game plan, and did not play well together. I totally thought I was a goner. I was more worried about the Dom and the player playing the dom than the other two with those alts right then. (DOMINATION FTW)
So I want to say, agianst the builds that seem made to counter MMs (fire armor spine attacks) I do ok. Mostly I lose, but hey its fun.
The sets that I do good against, I do really really good against.
Aiming for AoE and Ranged Defense, recovery and accu bonus's have made my MasterMind a TankerMind. Able to walk up to mobs, drop the poison trap and hope the trip mines go off b4 ninja kill all is the story of the day. Having Heavies in RV and blasters with AIM and BU miss me a lot is also very nice. I didnt focus on melee defense because of the FFG and patron power shield. Also, any that runs up to melee range gets a poison trap dropped down , with caltrops. That counts as my poison defense.
Well hey, a 3 v 1 is possible with a good MM. O yeah baybee!

Well, with uncoordinated attackers MMs can win against even higher odds... although for fighting successfully against a full 8-man hero team one has to turtle in a RV pillbox only jumping out of it for debuffs etc. Nevertheless it feels great!
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Hello:
I am not the best or in the "top ten percent" of players, pvpers or MM's.
Today I was able to do TWO separate 2v1's against a set of scrappers and then a pair of MM's all in WB. I beat them both pretty well.
Some strategies and tactics I use:
Two piles of traps: very good in zone pvp, and in duels and 2 v 1's. Keep your acid mortar in between them and your traps about 50 feet apart(outside of melee and a wee bit of space). Pull or push them on to one set of traps, set your pets on aggressive, throw down caltrops and poison trap, and hop over to your next set and rest or lay more traps.
The person coming over to you will be soo intent on causing you damage they will likely rush in. Boom off go's your second trip mine and poison trap. Hop back and let your pets go aggro again while opponent is puking.
Even if someone SSpeeds by a poison trap they will likely puke once. Thats the time to lay down caltrops and web nade while pets are in aggro mode. Keep your traps at 85 % recharge or above. They gota be there to work.
The other thing I do is "Fake NON BG MODE" where I send a few ninja at the opponent, or all of them for just a second. The goal is to confuse the enemy and make them think you are fragile with low HP. It works great, just be quick on the keyboard draw McGraw.
Im able to "Rest" power a lot during PvP matches. FTW often. How? Because of webnade/caltrops/poison trap massive- recharge stack. I was able to slow attack speed over 140$ between poison trap and caltrops without counting webnade. A good trap MM is a mini partial Ice/Kin because of this. Its a major strength for trappers in any extended PvP battle. Stop/Slow your opponent with caltrops n webnade and drop it at their feet.
Run Tactics! Between the to hit buff and the acid mortar/ninja debuff, they will always get hit. Gotta chip away those Granites somehow.
TP Foe is also critical to the game plan. I recommend you get it as a trapper as soon a comfortable in your build, but before lvl 32 if you can. Its a great puller and insta killer. I slot it with IO:Range because between my set accu bonus and tactics, its hitting fairly well.
Remember in PvP, space and time are your friends, so create them. Space between you, your traps, and your opponent, and Time, slow them down all you can, so you can continue to spam traps.
I have not really used the seeker drones very much. They need to be slotted a little bit more to be more effective. Drones are used when somebody is about to stop puking or start moving, because then when they attack, I want their -ACC to be maxed while Im waiting for recharge.
Again, as soon as they puke, go aggressive. It works. Generally between one minimum to 5 or 6 puke animations while they cannot do squat to you. Take advantage.
Also, to telegank, you must have Range and get rid of your beacon/FFG. TPing any foe to six trip mines and poison trap should give you time to drop a bubble after words.
Fire Tanks and Brutes I cannot beat at all. Having no defense to debuff and poison resist makes all my main tools useless. And TPing one to my max stack of mines just scratches them if they have a decent build. Props to you Fire Armor Melee types, you all are on to something and thank you for the ten minute plus battles!
Hope these ravings help
