Hmm, I may have to see if they have me giggling like an idiot..I like this plan.
  2. I'll answer number 2!

You need AM, Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, Lingering Radiation, and maybe your heal, and probably EM Pulse. Those are the big ones, and most of them come early.

Choking Cloud is nice to have imo, but end heavy. So, you make your choice there.

  3. Ok, I traditionally stick to defenders, controllers, and tankers. But I want a character that I can pick up and solo any time, without being like, dependant on people. So I think I want a scrapper for that role.

So, what works the best? MA? BS? DM?

My only scrapper ever has been Spines/SR, which, though it can solo at level 35, its mostly AoE focused, aaaaand not really great for soloing with any great speed.

    Thanks!
  4. Meh, I've been kicked simply for having Energy blast on my defender.

I dunno, I love my KB.

    Best at TFs

I honestly have to give a knod to plant, mostly for its effectiveness in Posi.

My Plant/TA has been running thru the TFs, and I feel real helpful.

I believe this is right, with the exception of Stoney having a base 100% resist to psionics, but that's just because he is who he is.

Tough will be, I just don't have it yet. I plan on four slotting it with Reactive (or whatever gets me the def bonus.)
  8. My cold/rad/psi plans to make extensive use of it. With Heat loss up, I can toggle it with no fear of it dropping

  10. I'm rolling up my dark/fire tank, I'm already at 25, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this build? I'm sure people have tried it, that is...but I'm wondering if anyone has stuck with it.

I'm at work, so my build is gonna be simply described. heh.

    1: Dark Embrace
    1:Scorch
    2:Murky Cloud
    4:Combustion
    6:Obsidian Shield
    8: Dark Regen
    10:Combat Jumping
    12:Swift
    14:Super Jump
    16:Cloak of Shadows
    18:Health
    20:Stamina
    22: Death Shroud
    24:Cloak of Fear
    26:Boxing (planned)
    28:Fire Sword Circle (planned)
    30:Tough (planned)
    32:Weave (planned)
    35:Incineration (planned)
    38:Taunt (planned)

So that is my plan for this character. I currently have about 30% resist to Energy and Toxic, 42% to Fire and Cold, 47% to Smash/Lethal, 50% to Psionics, and I think about 60% to Negative energy. My slotting gives me 20% defense to smashing/lethal, and I'm shooting for somewhere close to 40-45%, and about 30% to energy, just to cover that "hole".

That being said, how can I save slots? I'm already woefully behind. A couple of my armors are getting at least 4 slotted for Reactive Armor (I think) because it gives me S/L defense. Scorch has Haymaker in it at 4 slots. Combustion has 6 slots, 4 using Mocking Beratement (I think) for the defense. CJ and CoS are slotted for defense, CJ has an extra slot for Kismet 6% tohit. CoF is getting 5 slots of Siphon insight for 3.75% s/l defense, but it currently only has 2.

Weave will be 3-4 slotted, tough will be 4 slotted, FSC will be six slotted, taunt will be 4 slotted. I feel like I'm out of slots before I even get them! Is there anything I can change for better results?

    Sonic/Archery

    Sonic/Archery.

what a build. I've played it, but I gotta say, I found it very painful. I don't have my build here at work, but the beginning is annoying because you're stuck with snap shot, which is to say, awful.

If you're teaming mostly, put of Sonic Siphon till the 20s some time, pick up you shields, and 2-3(and get Snap Shot out of your attack chain ASAP) attacks early on so you can feel like you're contributing. At 8, Disruption Field will be your best friend and your worst enemy. The end cost is huge, but what it does is awesome (if you're on a team). At 12, the big bubble comes in, which will make your endurance non-existant, but you'll be a huge asset to any team.

Love sonic, but personally? I prefer my sonic/ice to my sonic/archery.
  13. Permafrost is usually skipped, unless you aren't taking tough/weave. Permafrost is mostly useless on an ice tank, but it does make for a great place to put that Steadfast res/def unique, get your defense numbers even higher.

Tough also allows you to put that in, and provides more meaningful resists to you.
  14. Huh, could have sworn I came in here and sad Rad/ice.

    Guess not

    Rad/ice!
  15. Ah boo, I'd heard inklings that Ice was terrible these days.

Oh well, looks like I'll be venturing forth to get slapped around
  16. I've never PvP'd really, I've got in to the zones a few times with a buddy and we duel, just to see who is better etc. But i want to take my character in to real PvP situations, with that on the table, will i get my rear end handed to me on a platter?

my build is a rad/ice defender. I have both the toggles, my heal, hasten, lingering rad, and my blasts and such (no holds).

Will I just fail endlessly? or do i stand a fighting chance? (no sets in my build, just IOs)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your guide. I have an unusual amount of Sonic experience under my belt (50 Def, 50 Troll, 39 Corr) but still haven't taken Repulsion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I'm about to have my lvl 50 troller (Ice/Sonic) as in my sig, but she didn't take Repulsion either. I may need to rethink it :P. My corrs are ususally sonic, but I hate redside for the most part, so you may have to give me advice on that part of my guide .

I'm currently rolling up Sonic/Ice, Sonic/Archery, and Sonic/AR(when it comes over) for defenders. I really do love sonic, I just wish more people did Like you! Yay Hedgefund!

My guide is currently in the super-first draft, hehe, so I've got a ways to go yet.

    Thanks

MA also won 9 gold medals in the Beijing Olympics, effectively making Phelps seem "not that special"
  19. I've been thinking about switching Frost Breath for Ice Storm, just for the blaster level damage switch. I want to keep Repulsion, because I'm learning the ins and outs of every sonic power to write a guide for it. If, in the end, repulsion turns out to be very, very useless, I'll certain make the switch.

I may switch my liquefy slotting with that infomation, but if the accuracy does apply to the hold, then i'll probably keep one, as, even though it is unreliable, I'd like to have it hit.

As for assault, I just don't know if I can stomach another heavy toggle
  20. Back from the original idea, which I only just read,

    I love it!

And for energy blasting, I'd play it for getting some kb resist every time I blast, thats awesome! not more IO .

Archery? That is a tougher...maybe more accuracy? That seems really lame. So it may have to be a sort of "out of nowhere" buff, which makes a thematic issue.

Anyway, i thuroughly support this overpowered buff!
  21. This just in:

    MA burnt my toast.

    my TOAST
  22. Ah! Dominate it is!

    Thanks

    Sonic/Ice?

Thats a really nice combination, one I dont think I've ever seen in game. Ice provides a lot of the direct "get out of my face" mitigation that Sonic lacks a bit IMHO.

The slotting all looks cool. A few odd points.
    - Sonic Cage has a high base accuracy (1.4), so you dont need two Accs in there.
    - Hasten is unslotted? I'd try to get 3 Recharge if you take it.
    - World of Confusion really is a bit rubbish and doesnt deserve 5 slots. Damage procs are maybe better than actual damage IOs in here too, Im not 100% sure.
    - Mass Hypnosis has 2 sleep enhancers. What are you planning to do where an enemy has to be asleep and thus untouched for more than the base 30 seconds? Side aggro management?

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah, I'm thinking Mass hyp will be my "add on group management" and WoC is sort there because i'm not sure what to go with.

I want Sonic Cage to hit, always. But I could probably stand to move that slot to hasten.

As far as sets, thanks for the advice I haven't checked too much in to them yet!
  24. Hey guys, it's my fresh new sonic defender!

Only base IO slotted, not worked on sets yet, but tell me what you think! I get at least 23.8% resistance to every type of damage, with the outliers being S/L with a value of 71% and psionic being around 31%.

Enjoy! And give suggestions if you have any

Don't pay too much attention to slot level placement.
